[There's a boy with white hair, quite obviously rather young however, staring with eyes blue and wide, a curiosity coursing through him as he peeks through closely. There's a moment where he seems quite anxious, as if he's unable to speak, but as he pulls back, it passes fast, a notable smile blooming suddenly on his face. The video shakes from his apparent bouncing, peering into the locket with nervous excitement.]

Hello! The name's Jack Frost, and if you can hear me, if you can see me—I really hope you can see me—please say something, anything, really.

[Fifteen years and he's only ever spoken to another spirit or two. Oh, how he longs for conversation! To be able to hear responses to questions, laughter towards his jokes, anything to let him know that he's heard, that he's seen.

He lifts a hand, hesitating for a beat before a small wave of frost lifts from his finger tips and he blows it forward. A hearty laugh soon follows, quite pleased with the act.]

I don't know much about what's going on out there, but I've got a huge stash of ammo for the best snowball fight you'll experience in ages. Heck, we can even go ice skating or sledding! We'll slide down hills or even mountains of snow. Anything goes.

[His smile grows ever wider with talk of his plans, a slight excited laugh escaping him as he continues to gaze with delight.] Look, wherever you are, it doesn't matter—I can get you one of the best snow days of your life. You'll have a blast. I promise.

[ Maedhros is talking and Maglor comes drifting over to see who it is that intrigues his brother so. The locket post gets a curious eye and Maglor debates for a while before flipping on his locket to answer ]

You are seen, and you are heard, Jack Frost. Is it such a strange thing for you? I am sorry, if so, for none ought to be alone [ Except us whispers the Ambarussa who deserves it more than us? ]

[ He looks mostly human, pale, with dark hair and grey eyes, but there is a Light in his eyes that is old and bright, for all that he has the face of one much younger. His voice, like his brother's is deep and musical - moreso, in fact, it is as if Music underpins his every word ]

You have spoken to my brother, and I have heard him speak my name - Well met - I am Maglor.

Oh, you're Maedhros' brother? [If that's the case, the vision is ... definitely not what he expected, looking nothing like the elves he's spotted in his world. He's almost unsure if he's relieved or disappointed. Those little guys were kind of adorable.]

Ah, well, it's been a long time of doing things on my own, but it seems like that isn't much of a problem anymore, so it's pretty alright now.

[ an amused quirk of the lips ]

I am, aye - he has six younger, and of those six I am the eldest.

I am glad that things are better for you now, Master Jack. Tis a poor welcome, to a place such as this, but at the least I suppose you have no longer cause to be alone.

[Master Jack. Whoa there, that's some fancy talk. Not that he'll correct him. That's way too cool to hear.]

Yeah, not everyone's too happy about it, but it looks like I've got the better end of the deal. Same for you. It's pretty nice you to have your brother with you.

You are fortunate then [ Maglor shrugs] and I am glad you find joy in it!

Many of us were drawn here unknowing or unwilling - to be told that we are to fight when kin stand across the divide...[ he shakes his head and says quietly ] I have seen enough of that already. But for this one thingi am grateful, aye - to see my family again, beyond all hope.

Wait, so you have actual friends on the other side?

[Though he realizes that it could be possible, considering there wasn't any real explanation as to why anybody ended up on either side in the first place.]

[ he smiles bitterly ]

Two of my cousins, and the daughter of one of them. My foster son, earlier, but he is gone, now. The young Woodland Prince of a kingdom and time past my own. Aye - most of our kin stand opposed to us... [ Not that this is unusual grumbles Caranthir ]

[So many of them! He arrived here all of his own, not really having anyone to follow anyway, so it comes as a surprise to see these kinds of circumstances.]

Well, you're not really fighting though, are you?

I do not. [ Maglor qualifies ]

I owe no loyalty to the queen whose war has cost me my younger brother's life. And I have had enough of kinslaying before being brought here. But there are many her, Master Jack, for whom the war is deadly serious. One of them already slew my brother for his shard.

I'm—I'm sorry ... [That catches him off guard, shocked almost to silence. He doesn't know what it's like to lose someone or even has the ability to imagine what it might be like.]

This whole war, there's ... not really a point to it, is there?

[ In the face of Jack's distress he gentles, shrugging away his grief Celegorm lives again Curufin's memory reminds him Take comfort in that ]

Thank you, but tis fine - I...have lost them all already, to have even a bit more time is a blessing.

As for the war...they will tell you the fate of your world is at stake, and mayhap they speak true - the shards that lie within us have strange power. But I think me the courts are more alike than diffetent, and I wonder.

If they're at stake, what do we need to do to change that? Fight? Wouldn't that just endanger the other worlds?

[Though he still didn't really have any plans to involve himself in any of the fighting. War wasn't his territory.]

[ a smile, quick and bright, like sunlight through clouds ]

Well said! And you hit the heart of the matter. The rulers of both courts will tell you "If the other wins, your world is lost" - but is my world to be bought then, with the blood of another? And what of those from worlds like myself, who straddle both sides of the divide? But on that matter, the courts are silent.

Do not trust them, Jack Frost. There is more here at work, I deem, than we are told.

[ a sigh ]

But for some, that reason is reason enough - what care have they for the worlds of others? And for some, the call to war and glory and riches is enough, e'en without the promise of safety. I only know that I am tired of fighting... but to save my family...

I mean, I kind of figured from the beginning I'd stay out of this whole thing. I'm not really the fighting type, so ...

[This is ... definitely a lot bigger than he realized. Bigger than he could ever fully understand, really.]

Maybe there's some way for everyone to get out of it without anybody losing anything. I doubt I could figure out something like that, but ... who knows, maybe someone will. I'm sure there'll be a way for your family to get out of this okay, too. For everyone to.

[ He shakes his head but he smiles, sweet and sad and so very tired ]

Thank you, Jack - but I lost that hope a long time ago. There is always a price to be paid, this seems especially true here in the Drabwurld. [ Let it fall on me, let it fall on us ] I will be content if I can see them home again, my dear ones, safe with their families and with the door to this world shut forever.

[ it goes without saying that Maglor seems quite content to stay on this side of the door ]

Whoa, hey— [It sort of clenched at Jack's heart to hear that. Even if he probably couldn't understand what Maglor's gone through, he couldn't bear to leave it at that.]

You shouldn't. Lose that hope, I mean. It's gotta be tough, but things get better. [They have to.] That sort of thing won't be easy, but you can't just say no to a good ending right off the bat. You gotta keep it together, Mag. It's possible.

[Though Jack was definitely still young, still hopeful. It was still too early for him to really understand.]

Oh Jack - such a great heart you have. There is nothing left for me in my world saving only this - that my loved ones are safe and well. I no longer have the strength to hold hope for myself, only for them.

[ For them, I would do anything ]

Geez, if you're not gonna have hope, then I will for you. For both you and your family. Got it?

[Naive as he is, he's seen things like life and death, sometimes more than he wants to that he'd rather believe in the best side of it.]

Great heart [ he murmurs softly ]

Thank you, Jack.

[He sighs, but smiles slightly.]

I've got your back, Mag.

For your kindness to an old ellon I thank you. May you know joy, Jack. And if ever you have need of me, you have but to call - I cannot promise to come immediately, but whatsoever aid I may render is yours.

[And he smiles even more earnestly now. Because he's never had anyone at all to rely on before.]
