[There's a boy with white hair, quite obviously rather young however, staring with eyes blue and wide, a curiosity coursing through him as he peeks through closely. There's a moment where he seems quite anxious, as if he's unable to speak, but as he pulls back, it passes fast, a notable smile blooming suddenly on his face. The video shakes from his apparent bouncing, peering into the locket with nervous excitement.]

Hello! The name's Jack Frost, and if you can hear me, if you can see me—I really hope you can see me—please say something, anything, really.

[Fifteen years and he's only ever spoken to another spirit or two. Oh, how he longs for conversation! To be able to hear responses to questions, laughter towards his jokes, anything to let him know that he's heard, that he's seen.

He lifts a hand, hesitating for a beat before a small wave of frost lifts from his finger tips and he blows it forward. A hearty laugh soon follows, quite pleased with the act.]

I don't know much about what's going on out there, but I've got a huge stash of ammo for the best snowball fight you'll experience in ages. Heck, we can even go ice skating or sledding! We'll slide down hills or even mountains of snow. Anything goes.

[His smile grows ever wider with talk of his plans, a slight excited laugh escaping him as he continues to gaze with delight.] Look, wherever you are, it doesn't matter—I can get you one of the best snow days of your life. You'll have a blast. I promise.

I mean, aside from being able to toss up a snow day on command, I guess I am. I'm shaped like one, talk like one, speak like one—all that good stuff.

[He's been called a spirit, but he's never really thought himself that different. He's just sort of assumed that's been the case, though he's never really stopped to consider it any other way.]

That's pretty lucky for you then! Having family here, I mean. As far as I've seen, most people don't get that luxury.

In my experience, the race of Man does not often have such abilities. But then, I am told that there are countless races and worlds represented here.

[ a brief, slightly loaded pause, but then he exhales quietly. ] .. Yes. I did not expect to see them again, so whatever I think of this strangers' war, I am grateful for this opportunity. .. You seem to be handling the displacement well.

Uh, it's kind of hard to tell sometimes. Most of the others like me don't really have a human form. I've talked to the hills, to the winds, but I'm shaped nothing like they are, so what would that make me?

[A rhetorical question, of course. He's asked the moon the same one countless times and has never gotten much of an answer for it.]

There's no point in moping around. War or not, there's hundreds of people to meet and talk to. It's a lot better than where I come from.

.. One of the Suluthrim, perhaps, which is a spirit of the winds. Or of the Maiar. Though it is unusual that you should not know, yourself, I must admit.

[ thankfully, maedhros is not the moon, and he's at least willing and curious enough to theorize.

talk like that.. perhaps this boy truly is as young as he seems. and what reason, truly, would a spirit have to involve himself in a war, anyway? ] Indeed. Even so, take care. There are those, I am certain, who take their assigned duties here all too seriously.

Suluthrim? I've never heard any of those words before. [Or read, having snuck peeks through libraries, browsing through books especially of spirits and folklore.]

I just kind of, well, woke up without knowing much about myself. It's sort of become a trend for some years now. Uh, fourteen or fifteen or some? I haven't really kept count.

[A total lie.]

Yeah, I've already been plenty scolded to not prance around so much in case enemies come around. But even the thickest skulls want some entertainment every once in a while.

They are beings that hail from my world. Spirits with physical form. [ awakening without knowing what one is, without knowing anything about oneself, and without someone to be a guide..? ] .. I see. It would be.. lonely, I am certain.

[ a musing noise. ] I do not think there is anything wrong with your reaction, considering what you have said. Bright fëar are things, perhaps, greatly needed in this place. I speak merely of maintaining sharp eyes, not of, how do you say.. censoring yourself.

And what sort of world do you come from? Cause somehow I get the feeling it's not the same as mine. [Lonely is certainly a word he knows well in his world. So far, maybe that wouldn't be the case in this one.]

Well, I appreciate it. Luckily, I have a bit of an advantage in keeping to the sky so I do well with keeping aware and I'm not so easily a target.

How does one speak of one's home, having never known another? [ he has to consider it for a few moments. how would he talk about a place he has little love for any longer? ] It is like and unlike this world. There is a moon and a sun, though I still find them somewhat.. new. My family is of the First-Born, the eldar. Elves, I believe, is the common word. We are one of several races.

.. A useful talent to have, to be certain.

Elves? You're not ... a teeny rabbit-sized person, are you?

[Because the only elves he's seen are the ones who work in the North Pole and those are pretty much pocket sized. He's seen ones that are more similar to regular humans in books, but has yet to see one live.]

[ a what. ] Indeed not. My people are generally the height of Man and taller.

Well, that's good. The elves we've got here tend to be really small. [Though they also don't really talk and just to just bicker nonsense usually.]

My world is a bit like this one too, I guess. Similar sun and moon, and all. [He pauses with a thought.] It's a silly question, but ... your moon doesn't talk, does it?

It is not a silly question if it it something that concerns you, Jack Frost. Our moon does not speak-- it is a remnant only of one of the two Trees, drawn through the sky by one of the Maiar. [ a brief, uncomfortable pause. ] So the tale goes, at the least. I was.. otherwise occupied when the moon and sun first rose into the skies.

Your own does, though?

You mean you were alive when the moon and sun first came around? [There's much intrigue in his voice, especially when it comes to hearing about other worlds. He's read a lot about different folklores and mythologies while trying to learn more about himself, but to hear a direct tale was definitely catching his attention.]

And sort of. I think so anyway. He told me my name when I first woke up. But I haven't really been able to get him to say much else since then.

[ is that really so strange? he's beginning to think so. ] I was. Though as I said, I was not aware that they had replaced the Trees for some time. My brothers would perhaps be better to ask about them. Maglor, especially, collects tales.

[ that's interesting, though, on a number of levels. ] It seems strange, that he would choose not to communicate with you.

It'd be cool to hear a bit more about it. I've read a lot about different creation stories and legends. They're all kind of interesting to learn about when you've read a good amount.

[Even a lot of the spirits he's met are just considered myth and folklore. It's intriguing to learn about what people find real or not, too.]

Beats me as to what his deal is. He's the one who brought me around but never even gave a hint as to why.

I will be certain to tell him. You will never hear a voice like his again if you live 'til the ending of all things. [ he might be a little fond of his brothers. ]

.. Ah. Perhaps this is meant to be a journey that you alone can finish.

That's quite the compliment. Now I just have high expectations. [There's a light laugh. If you live 'til the ending of all things. It's an interesting thought that he's never wondered until now, but still extremely complicated that he preferred to not dabble in the subject.]

And it's fine if I had to do something myself, but nothing I tried ever really resulted in anything happening. But I'm here now so, I don't know, maybe I did something right.

He will outshine them. [ unseen, his lips quirk as maglor shows an interest, speaking up himself. ] .. As you shall soon see.

Yes, you are here, and you are seen and you are heard. Perhaps that is what most matters at the moment.

Yeah, that's ... that's true. [That is what matters most. Those words do a lot more to Jack than even he realizes. He's been by himself for so long that while most people curse being sent here, it's the best thing that could have happened to him.]

Ha! Geez, Maedhros, you're like the little guardian voice in my head.

[A lot more useful than the Moon too, for sure.]

[ despite himself, that earns a small huff that might be a laugh. ]

That may be the only time I have ever heard such a thing. 'Tis only good sense, though, to my knowledge.

Well, it cheered up a winter spirit. You get some points for that.

[Jack's laugh is much more obvious, excitable as it is.]

[ dryly amused: ] Aye, well, perhaps I shall keep tally. I could use points in my favor.

.. So, then, after seeing my brother.. do we resemble your rabbit-sized creatures?

Ah, no, apparently not. [There's a shred of disappointment in his voice, but only a little. Namely because the elves he knows are so teeny and easy to pick on. It gives him so much amusement.]

Though I've seen elves like yours in books before. Never in person though.

Indeed? [ curious, interested-- perhaps they've all faded from jack's world. ] We are a common enough folk, I think. You sound disappointed, though.

Folklore, mostly. Just stories of fiction. I don't think most people realize you exist. [Kind of like him, there's a lot of things people don't know are real.]

And, ah, it's not really disappointment. I've just always wanted to meet those little guys. Seemed like they'd be interesting to play with in a snow fight.
