[Have a curiously peering fairy, Drabwurld. It's a close up of one oddly colored green eye before it's drawn away and the rest of the face comes into focus, along with the horns and large wings as a backdrop.]

Is this some form of scrying stone? How curious. And I'm to talk into this?

[She turns to look at a pixie, one who's hovering near her head and giving her directions on how to use the locket.]

And one can address everyone this way? Marvelous.

[The pixie tells her that it's on and that currently everyone can see her and she eyes the locket again, wondering at how this particular bit of magic works.]

Greetings. To those that do not know me, my name is Maleficent. I'm curious to see if a girl has wound up here as well. Golden hair, blue eyes, and quite likely charming those around her. Her name is Aurora and if anyone has seen her, I'd very much appreciate being informed of this.

[She looks to be about to turn the locket off, but there's a small twitch of her lips as she begins talking again.]

I suppose I'd also like to be informed if anyone finds a raven who is not a raven. He's incredibly cheeky, but he's also mine.

[And that would be the end of her speech. No need for pleases and thank yous. Someone's clearly used to being obeyed.]

Birds die. It's the nature of being a bird, king or not. Just as people die.

[And fairies, but she wasn't going to get into that, thank you.]

Death may be the nature of things, but that doesn't make it any less painful for some to go through. Each grief process is different, depending on the individual.

I've not known birds to hold on to any one particular emotion more than a handful of moments.

[And having had one for a companion for two decades would make her an expert on this.]

Yes, well, I'm sure that they have an attention span much like a cat.

[ Like the cheshire cat. ]

[Did someone have cat issues? Maybe Maleficent should try turning Diaval into a cat and seeing if he fared any better.]

Either way, whatever mourning will be done will likely be forgotten almost as soon as it's started.

[digophelia]

[ She would argue otherwise; cats are a pain, especially Cheshire Cats. ]

Or the could keep it to themselves. The thief hasn't been found yet.

Thief or murderer?

[There was a distinction, after all.]

[digophelia]

It might as well be both, considering we haven't found the bird king. If he is good as dead, I wouldn't be surprised.

Or he was a very, very large bird. I suppose I should warn you about the feathers; some of us who have picked them up have caught on fire.

[curser]

Really?

[That was... curious, though it wasn't likely she'd find any such feathers around as they'd all been collected by now. Even the ones thought ferreted away. She'd have to take the girl's word for it.]

Are you certain it's the feather that does this?

[digophelia]

Yes. A girl and I were collecting the feathers to help find the thief. Thankfully, it was her imp that took the feather and not her.

[ She would have scolded Lumina more. ]

But the feathers carry different results. Insofar, there's been people who turned invisible or an animal.

Curious. Curious indeed that a feather would do such things to someone in possession of them, previously attached to a 'king' or not.

[digophelia]

[ And suddenly, Alice feels like she's seven again, speaking to one of the flowers in the gardens. ]

There's many curious things here, indeed! Where I come from, fairies are nothing but legend. Why, even the sky is clearer and the stars are brighter.

[curser]

I can assure you, I'm quite real.

[Nothing but legend indeed. And to say that a world without her kind would have clearer skies. Nonsense.]

And the prettiest one so far. You remind me of the old folklores, like the twyleth teg.

[curser]

Twyleth teg. I can't say I'm familiar with that. What is it about?

[Yes, Maleficent was curious about things that she might remind others of.]

[digophelia]

Where I come from, there are places like this, but they are in secrecy and not visible to mortal eyes. The twyleth teg are the fairy court in Wales, they don't have the "seelie" or "unseelie". It means the "fair folk" in Welsh and the fair folk are not small creatures, but stand like man, but are the most beautiful and fair in the fairy world.

[It sounded similar to what she knew herself, though the description of the fair folk were a far cry outside of what Maleficent knew.]

Similar, but not quite. At least, not from where I hail from. Most of the fair folk from the Moors are smaller. Less likely to be confused with a human.

[digophelia]

The moors..

[ She says it wistfully, recalling that in the stories she heard, they were more sinister. It is pleasing to know that it's not necessarily the case. ]

Forgive me, does that mean that size makes you more powerful?

[curser]

[She gave the girl the benefit of taking a moment to think about that.]

I don't think so. I think I am merely... different than the ones I keep an eye on.

[She'd been stronger than most of them as a child as well, and size hadn't quite come into it then.]

[digophelia]

[ That actually has her thinking as well as blurting it out without even considering what she asks once again. ]

Then why do you come in different sizes? How come all of you are not the same?

[curser]

I could ask you much the same questions. Why do humans come in different colors and sizes? We are what we are, as you are what you are. You may as well ask why you've the hair color you do.

[digophelia]

[ That manages to have Alice smiling, just a little. ]

I suppose that is true! If I do say so myself, it's amazing to see beings that belong in fairy tales in person. We certainly have none of this London.

It's what makes this place wonderful, at times.

[curser]

No fairies? Well, your world must be dreadfully boring.

[Because really, Alice, what was a world without magic?]

[digophelia]

Oh, but it is very boring!

[ She has been saying this for the past ten or some years. ]

[curser]

Then I can very well see why you might have found your way here.

[Honestly. Nothing but humans? Perish the thought.]
