[Granted, Stefen hasn't been here that long, but he's already restless. He isn't much of an explorer--even in a place he knows, let alone a strange one--and, truthfully, it's dangerous and if there's anything a Bard knows how to avoid it's danger and discomfort.

So instead, he sits, gittern in his lap for a moment or two before he begins a song. It makes him feel better, even if he isn't doing anything besides playing, not using his Gift or his voice at all. It's something familiar, at the very least, and he sighs when it's over, then makes a face.]

Perhaps I just haven’t been here long enough, but I imagine I’m not the only one who feels they’ll go mad in white linen if I stay here much longer. [A pause.] Not that the place is without its charms, surely, but… [Sigh.] Does one ever get used to it?

I don't much care.

[He makes short work of leading the way to Stefen's bed. There's a reason he chooses that one - it already has the Bard's scent. After removing his shoes, he sits down on it and peers up at him coaxingly.]

I'm sorry for doubting you. I know the bond is real - I can tell the difference.

[After he closes the door, Stefen moves over and sits next to Vanyel on the bed, close, and reaches for one of the Herald's hands.]

It's so...strange here. I don't exactly blame you.

[His hands are cool and he eagerly entwines their fingers, seeking Stefen's warmth.]

It is, but I don't regret coming here and meeting you. I would hate myself if I ignored this chance.

Well, we can't have that, now can we?

No, we can't. [He brings Stefen's hand up and kisses over his knuckles.]

I suppose that means I should do something about it?

Only if you're ready. [The bed has plenty of room for them to share.]

I've been ready far longer than you have.

We could argue about that. I've been looking for someone like you for ages. [As cheesy as that sounds, it's true. Vanyel tugs on Stefen's hand, laying back.]

You did a damn good job of seeming like you weren't.

For good reason. [He murmurs against Stefen's ear.]

I didn't think it was, but I suppose I was utterly smitten.

When did that start? Was it because of what Medren said or - ?

Hm...right about the moment I first laid eyes on you. Medren offered introductions long before then, but I could never work myself up to it. You'd be surprised how long he was trying to get the pair of us into the same room together. He's worse than a matchmaker. Or a girl.

[Lifting the blankets, Vanyel shifts underneath and holds open his arms.]

We're in a room together now. If Medren turns up, I'll thank him for being so persistent.

[Stefen is just the right amount of stubborn to stick by his side.]

[Stefen just laughs as he climbs under the blankets and slides his arms around Vanyel.]

Lord, all of the plots! He's devious, that nephew of yours.

[He wraps his arms around him, sliding his fingers through the Bard's hair.]

He must have inherited it from his father.

[That feels nice, and he smiles and pulls himself a little closer.]

He certainly got it from somewhere long before I came around.

I'm glad he met you. Though you were horrendous for his mischievous side. [He doesn't have any qualms with that, however.]

Probably. At least it was fun.

I'm a little envious.

[Fun. When was the last time he had fun? Vanyel honestly can't recall. Though there was that time he first kissed Stefen.

That had been fun. Exhilarating, yes, and -

Gathering his courage, he seeks out the Bard's lips and draws him into a soft kiss.]

[That is even better, and he returns the kiss just as gently. He's reluctant to, but eventually he pulls back and smiles.]

Mm. I don't see why when you have that hidden up your sleeve.

[His lips drift to the edge of Stefen's mouth as he speaks.]

I like kissing you. [A silly admission, perhaps, but true.] If it becomes a daily occurrence, I wouldn't mind.

I think I might be able to make arrangements for that.
