[ The locket is floating.
It’s the only explanation for the view that the item gives – a young man, out on the walls of one of the castles, the moon curved behind him. His arms are crossed in front of him, not touching the device as it records. Black eyes (all black, like the depths of the sea) regard it for a moment and then one hand moves, gestures at the locket. ]
Well, well.
[ His head tilts, and while his lips don’t turn up, one may get the feeling that he’s smirking. ]
I must say, this is an interesting turn of events. One that even I did not see coming.
[ His voice is almost monotonous, but there is something like music in it – like whale song. ]
To be pulled away to the Drabwurld, asked to take part in this war. I wonder if they truly know what they are doing. [ His hand returns, head moving back so that he can look straight at the camera. ]
I hear there was a battle. One should expect such things, in war. I suppose I should ask about it. [ He doesn’t. Instead- ]
Tell me, Shardholders, something... interesting.

Tell me, Shardholders, something... interesting.
audio;
Yes, my people live underwater, in the oceans, though some of us can walk upon the land.
[ Not a supervillain, Kaldur's shiny blue tattoos. You sound like Ra's and Clarion decided to pool their genes into a horrorchild. ]
I am surprised that one might find that fascinating.
audio;
But there are the whales. [ The whales. Lifeblood of Dunwall, literally. ] What do you think of them?
audio;
I have known several whales. [ The sentence ends as though it were a question. ] One, I would consider a friend. I do not interact with them much.
[ Um, how do you answer a question like that for real now. ]
audio;
Both in life and in death, they are truly magnificent.
audio;
I find I agree with you; they are truly impressive creatures.
[ I mean, whales are totally cool man, he's not gonna lie.
But you are still really disturbing and he regretted this conversation about five minutes ago when he first opened his bloody mouth. ]
I am glad that you like them, more should appreciate the life in the ocean, especially whales.
[ That was totally casual, right? Kaldur's voice is still even, but his back has the creepy crawlies like no one's business ]
audio;
Those who love the sea tend to notice more than those who do not. Her bountiful places, where the fish like to gather. Her moods. But even most of those men do not truly know her and her denizens.
Where I am from, they harvest the whales. Whale oil burns in lamps, powers machines. And they know so little about where it came from.
audio;
Those who live their lives wholly on the surface can never appreciate the beauty of her depths. [ No, but seriously, if you didn't give him the creepiest vibes you would be bros rn ] The life the ocean holds is magnificent, and I am blessed to call it home, to know its paths and patterns, to know those who dwell in it with me, and to know even more that I am still ignorant of all its glorious secrets.
[ Kaldur loves his ocean and he cannot lie. It's something that he can't deny. ]
They used to do so in my world as well, a couple hundred years ago. But bans were placed on the indiscriminate slaughter of whales, and they have since found better sources of energy.
audio;
Have you ventured into the oceans of this world? Are they at all like your own?
audio;
[ These are all true, and he isn't resentful of it, but there is the slightest hint of frustration in his voice. He misses saltwater, damn it, and as nice as the underwater ruins of Caer Glaem are, they do not with an ocean compete. ]
I hope that after such things are settled, I will be able to explore it. I miss the ocean most of all the places of home. If you have the chance before I do, I would love to hear of it.
[ No Kaldur stop don't make friends with the chaos supervillain ]
May I have a name to seek you by, should I find myself presented with the chance?
audio;
[ He knows that frustration, has heard it from the mouths of thousands of men and women. And for the first time, he feels it, too. ]
If I do, I shall seek you out. [ A dangerous thing, to be sought by him -- but his interest is captured, now. ]
The Outsider, the Leviathan, and many others -- what I am called seems to depend on the person speaking of me.
audio;
I am Kaldur'ahm, of Shayeris, one of many cities underwater in my home, where we of the oceans dwell.
If you wish to contact me, that is the name to find me by.
[ There is a pause. ]
You sought something interesting. This has been an interesting meeting for me; I hope I was able to provide you something of similar nature. [ He isn't exactly going to say it was a pleasure to meet you because he's really beginning to think it isn't. ]
audio;
[ Actually, he will remember this whole conversation in a terrifying amount of detail. That's how he rolls.
At least he can't talk to people in their dreams anymore. ]
You did, Kaldur'ahm. Consider me... fascinated.
audio;
Then I am glad to have held your attention for this short time.
[ yeah, he's done courting crazy people now, next time he just won't answer. ]
