[ The locket is floating.

It’s the only explanation for the view that the item gives – a young man, out on the walls of one of the castles, the moon curved behind him. His arms are crossed in front of him, not touching the device as it records. Black eyes (all black, like the depths of the sea) regard it for a moment and then one hand moves, gestures at the locket. ]

Well, well.

[ His head tilts, and while his lips don’t turn up, one may get the feeling that he’s smirking. ]

I must say, this is an interesting turn of events. One that even I did not see coming.

[ His voice is almost monotonous, but there is something like music in it – like whale song. ]

To be pulled away to the Drabwurld, asked to take part in this war. I wonder if they truly know what they are doing. [ His hand returns, head moving back so that he can look straight at the camera. ]

I hear there was a battle. One should expect such things, in war. I suppose I should ask about it. [ He doesn’t. Instead- ]

Tell me, Shardholders, something... interesting.

Interesting?

[ Funnily enough, Erik's locket is also floating. His is because of his manipulation of metal rather than any gifted powers, of course, but all the same - it counts. Tilting his head, he offers a quick of an eyebrow, a lift of his lips. ]

What do you count as interesting, if a war isn't top of your list?

Are you under the illusion that we are here to entertain you? [Sorry, Outsider. She's had a rough time of it lately and is more than a little testy. And something about this rubs her the wrong way.]

[Lumina just looks so amused, in that vaguely insulting way only a little kid can.]

That has to be the wordiest way to ask for a bedtime story I have ever heard.

There have always been wars, and there will continue to be, across all worlds and times.

[ His expression does not change, but his gaze appears to change from a dispassionate glance to a more focused stare. ]

A great many things interest me. Choices, perhaps, more than most others.

You are here because you were brought. [ His voice continues at that same, steady pace. ] What you decide to do now that you're here is what truly interests me, whether you choose to indulge my request or not.

[ Ah, children. The spirited ones always made the most interesting choices. ]

For it to be a bedtime story, I would have to sleep afterward.

So they bore you for their repetition, not their purpose?

[ He might understand that, if his own cause wasn't so... Vital. ]

Choices. Such as deciding to leave or stay? To kill or not kill?

Their purposes are much the same. The desire for power, for money -- religion, love, better treatment. This war intrigues me only because it is one that directly relates to me. [ That is, losing = him blinking out of existence. ] But that is why people care about war, is it not?

[ He can understand (at least partially) why the humans he watch have such strong attachments to such things. He can also be completely bored by the wars themselves. ]

Among others.

War is about passion. Choosing to fight for a belief, or a people, above all others, destroying anyone that would dare rip that claim from your fingertips. That is what war should mean. It should be a last and final resort, when peace is no longer, or never has been, an option.

[ Which might be why he's so violently against this war, here, in this stupid world. He cares little for it's meaning, it's people, wanting nothing more than to fight for himself. ]

You must have a favourite, one you find most interesting.

[She just rolls her eyes.] That's really not true.

[ is this a gathering of people with their lockets floating? because morgana's is also floating, magicked up to float for her leisure. she would have ignored this as she ignores so many others, but something struck her as interesting - worthy of her time and energy.

It depends on who makes the choice. On if it's... expected.

I could wait for someone who interests me to stumble across my path. This seemed to be a faster method.

Though if he is anything like his mother, perhaps he was not a man at all.

[ He sees those ears. ]

It might seem faster, but it's really not! If you want people to tell you something, you can't just go 'tell me something.' They'll resist! People hate being told what to do.

You've gotta get them to think it was their idea. Make them want to tell you a story!

[ The Outsider doesn't sigh... but the noise he makes definitely sounds like one.

Then, after a moment, he seems to- somehow brighten. There's no real change in his expression, but he gestures with one hand. ]

You, my dear, have just told me something interesting.

[The kid just smiles slyly.]

Sure, but I wanted to.

You just got here. Surely you're not bored already.

And it is that choice that makes you all the more interesting.

I have seen a great many things over a great many years. This world has things that are a... novelty, I will admit. But they will pass, static and unchanging and boring, and the people will remain.

Sure, maybe! But I can't tell you what you want to know, I just got here.

So certain. And yet I did not specify what I want to know.
