[Video | Both Courts] 01st Storm
[Soren has been gathering information rather than being social with the rest of the newcomers at Caer Glaem. Now, feeling as though he's got enough knowledge of the Drabwurld to satisfy him for the moment, the mage turns to the Locket network. He's hoping that a certain someone from his world is here, but at the same time, he doesn't know if they're on opposite sides or the same one. Therefore, it's easier to not call him out and hope that the guy answers, if he's here.
He is at least going to learn something useful about the magic here, and possibly in other worlds.]
I'd like to know how different magic is across the worlds, as well as here. The limits, the necessary components, incantations, how you channel it, any other such thing you can think of.
[He holds up a red, leather-bound book.]
As an example. Tomes are for offensive magic. Knowing and speaking the ancient language it's written in allows communication with the elemental spirit of that particular tome. Good communication allows one to control the direction of the spell, while poor communication can lead to accidents with unfortunate results. Some end in death, but most end in grievous injury, depending on the spell.

They like mages, most likely because we not only speak to them in their language, but we're the only ones who can see them when they haven't manifested in a more physical form. I take it, then, that the spirits from your world very much prefer their freedom?

[ He shakes his head. No need to bother Soren with the tediums of Couterrenne theory -- at least, not when Felix understands so little of it himself. ]
I think I’d much prefer your sort. [ Felix smiles, faint. ] They sound more akin to our ghosts. Is it loneliness, then, that drives them?

Perhaps. I have noted that they respond better when they're spoken to in the ancient language. It can be hard to observe the spirits, especially those of the wind element. They're rather...elusive, and under normal conditions mages are the only ones who can see them in some way.
[Soren might just have to do some research on that when he gets back to his world.]

[ He taps a few fingers on the table, restless, then adds: ]
An old friend — annemer, not a wizard — was once able to see ghosts and spirits, where many with magic could not.
[ Of course, common consensus was that Vincent was mad, but that’s a bundle of briar that Felix doesn’t care to untangle. ]
As lonely of a thing to see as to be unseen, perhaps. I gather they’re not grand to gad about their feelings.
