I've heard that this magic device is the best way to address both the Seelie and Unseelie courts and their members. In the midst of all of this chaos surrounding these disgusting worm beings, I find myself wondering why it is that no one has tried to take a general census of the population. We're clearly, most of us, new arrivals. For whatever reason that may be, it stands to reason that we should at least talk to each other. Especially since it's likely that we all have at least one or two other people we know from our own homes. So, first things first. How many of you have come across someone you knew before you arrived here? Are they friends, or are they enemies? How are you handling things? ( Lydia has determined that she needs to take a survey, more or less, and find out as much as she can. See if she can discern any patterns in the population. See if she can find a rhyme or reason to what's going on... To why this place, why these people, why this timing. )

Secondly. If there's anyone else here from Beacon Hills... Speak up. Clearly there's something going on here that involves at least a few of us. I'm wondering how many more of us there are.

I've only found one person from home here, but he's a part of the other faction.

I don't know why these people would bring us here if they're going to try and make us fight our own friends.

I've been lucky in that the people I've found from home are, at least I think, all part of my own faction. I don't understand the logic behind pitting friends against friends, either. It sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Bringing us here to serve as a part of this war they're staging, but then making us fight someone we care about doesn't exactly make anyone sympathetic to the cause.

Well, technically they can't make us fight, can they? Even if they brought us here, there's nothing keeping us from just- not jumping in.

If Damon's an Unseelie, there's a good chance someone else is in the same position I am, and I'm definitely not going to risk hurting someone's friend, or family member. No way.

No. No, they can't. They can't force us into anything we don't want to participate in. I'm sure they have some persuasive methods that might make us more likely to offer our volunteerism, though. We should tread lightly until we know more. ( Lydia, however, doesn't disagree with this girl. )

Maybe we can help them figure out a diplomatic resolution to their problems instead.

If this whole- Shard thing is true, I'm not sure there's a diplomatic way to resolve it, short of both sides having to promise not to mess with the other. And obviously there's a lack of trust between both sides, so.

[ a beat ] What I don't get is why they brought us here at all, where our Shards are at risk, instead of keeping us back at home where we had no idea what they even were. It seems a little counterproductive to me.

I'm starting to wonder if there's more to the Shards than what they've given us. If it's more complicated than the simple explanations we've been offered. And I intend to find out. ( Lydia is the opposite of a fan of not knowing things. )

It's pretty clear that they're at the very least using us a means of perpetuating conflict. The real question is why us? Why not them? What is it about us that makes us special? What is it about the Shards that makes them special? We've been told we're here because of the Shards, but not what they are, what they do, or why we have them...
