[hello, magic locket network. have a blond teen with a curious little scar at the corner of his mouth, currently seated in front of his locket with as much ease as if it were a computer. probably more than if it were a computer, to be quite honest -- he's never used a computer in his life, but he's pretty damn used to more supernatural methods of communication. at least this is way simpler than talking through rainbows.]
Hey, I'm Jason. I've told a few people about this whole exploration trip my own group was working on, so I figured I might as well give an update on how that's going.
[and behind him, over his shoulder, is luke, with his back to jason as he holds his own locket up to take in the height of the trees they linger beneath. in the background one can hear:] This is what you'd call a tree, La Rue —
[for the observant viewer, the area they're currently taking a breather in certainly isn't caer glaem or the immediately surrounding areas. it's a forest, sure, but even through the locket it's clearly unusual, the trees all awe-inspiringly enormous. their camp is little more than a few bags dropped off at the base of a gigantic trunk. three bags, to be specific, but gods know where the third member of their little party's gone off to.]
We've bounced around a lot but I think we've covered a pretty decent spread of this place so far. Compared everything to the maps we found and all that. I think so far it's safe to say that those are all pretty accurate. Those worms have been all over too, so I don't think that's a concentrated incident...
[luke's disappeared from the background, but his voice is loud as he stands in front of jason. (not that anyone can see him, but they can hear him loud and clear).] And Grace is choosing to talk to his locket than take in the scenery. C'mon, Grace. Wave for La Rue. You Ares kids always miss out on the whackiest stuff.
[jason, for his part, makes a valiant effort to keep a straight face and be the serious, responsible one here. he can't hep but crack a hint of a smile though, and he raises a hand slightly to indulge luke. and not that anyone can see, but luke wanders off to crane his neck so high to look at the canopy that it almost snaps.]
All that aside, it'd be good to hear how things are going back at the castle too, and maybe in the Unseelie place if any of you guys are feeling particularly talkative.
((ooc: blue is jason, orange is luke, replies are likely to be hijacked by luke (and nico) if they feel like it.))

I didn't want Clarisse to think I was ignoring her or something.
[an excellent excuse, yes.]
[Action]
[Action]
If she isn't finding something suitable to smack her head against because of what Luke's doing, then I'll be surprised. I don't think she'll think you were ignoring her, but more that you were ignoring her headache.
[He swears to the gods that Luke needs a muzzle and a chain leash.]
[Action]
She has worms to kill as viciously as she pleases. I'm sure she's more than happy to take it out on those.
[good for the kingdom, good for luke's continued lifespan, good for everyone.]
[Action]
La Rue can fight ten wars and she'll never be "more than happy". [ he air quotes. clarisse is the child of war; he thinks if she can get her fix on fighting, she'll keep punching her way through anything in her path until there's nothing left — and she still won't be satisfied. he shrugs his shoulder and smiles at nico. he heard the comment about being her headache, but he doesn't particularly care to reply. ] Maybe she'll get rid of our worm problem for us. Sure the king and queen would love that.
[Action]
[Makes him wonder just how well Frank and Clarisse will get along.]
Yeah, and then you'll be bored that much faster. Which weapon does she have on her? The electric spear?
[Action]
[of course, saying that, he can't help but shoot luke a guilty glance and a half-hearted shrug, over where the other blond is taking a few swings with one of those not-from-home alternatives.]
Sorry.
[Action]
[ but the life comes back to him with a shrug. ] Not your fault my sticky fingers were slippery the day I lost Backbiter. [ backbiter is long lost, anyway. luke would rather this sword, that doesn't feel as though it's an extension of him, than the scythe of kronos. it's a conflict of feelings; he wants his sword, but he wants no part of kronos to linger. ]
[Action]
[Hey, Nico sees no reason to not update Luke on that fact. He'll let up on the son of Hermes for the weapon thing, at least.]
Well, we're in the land of fairies. I wouldn't be surprised if there were blacksmiths who can forge enchanted weapons for you.
[Action]
There was a guy talking about the forges here not too long ago. And those proclamations that were posted around said the rulers here would rewards anyone who killed those worm things. You could probably ask for something better.
[Action]
[ having either of them be nice to him is kind of a breath of fresh air, but not one luke particularly wants to dwell in. he brushes it off, their kindness, as he'd much prefer nico scowling and jason being uncertain as to whether or not he should play along with luke's stupid jokes. ]
If we don't get eaten by one — or lost, I'll see if celestial bronze is a part of the blacksmith care package. [ he glances down at his sword and swings it like a pendulum. he's managed to kill at least one worm, but it's nothing to paint him a hero for. ]
[ so, to break the seriousness of their conversation, luke smirks. ] So, Lamer. Either of you want to tell that to her face? [ or do you want to leave it to him? so glutton for punishment, this kid. ]
[Action]
No. She'll find a way to destroy my soul after she impales me, and I'm not going to rile up a child of Ares. Feel free to have that "honor" all for yourself.
[Action]
All yours, man. I'll pray for you.
[Action]
[ luke turns to nico. ] You find anything else out there besides clean water? Friendly fairy that might tell us how to put these worms to the earth-bed for good?
[Action]
Not a fairy, but a ghost told me that fire works on keeping them from regenerating.
[Action]
It'd be nice to have Leo here right about now.
[Action]
[ he looks to jason. ] And Leo. [ another kid, like jason, who he doesn't know. but at least jason's sort of tied to him through thalia — even if his friend never let a word slip about him. ] Who in Hera's name is Leo?
[Action]
[Nico doesn't say much else about the ghost. He knows how people get uncomfortable when he starts talking about them, and he's not sure Luke even wants to know.]
A highly obnoxious son of Hephaestus who thinks he's funnier than he actually is. He has the rare gift of being able to create fire with just a snap of his fingers, as well as be immune to it.
[Sorry, Jason, he tells it like it is.]
[Action]
He's my best friend.
[Action]
Who's highly obnoxious and isn't funny. Sounds like a true kid of Hephaestus. [ he tries not to think of his own friends, especially one who had ended up losing his life on the princess andromeda. hephaestus kids may be on the extreme end of the annoying scale, but they're pretty handy when one needs them. ] Useful, but nowhere to be found when you need him.
[ which is the story of every demigods life, it seems. ]
Either of you know how to start a fire with sticks?
[Action]
Nico digs around in his pack and brings out flint and steel. He waves it over at Luke.]
I do. I put flint and steel in all of our packs, just in case, as well as a flask of oil. We might be able to stop by a town to get some rags to make a torch.
[Action]
If we get desperate I can try to light up some tinder with a spark, but I wouldn't really recommend it -- I'm not really good at anything that delicate.
[Action]
Might be best if we try and find a town. If these worms keep popping up from the ground, setting the place on fire might be our best bet in getting rid of them for good. [ even though he's certain jason could do that with a simple zap of his fingers, luke kind of wants to feel a little useful. ]
[Action]
It's a good plan. And there's always the chance that we'll come across something that won't be affected by Stygian Iron or Imperial Gold.
[Action]
I saw a few towns and cities on that map. Shouldn't be hard to find in real life.
