[hello, magic locket network. have a blond teen with a curious little scar at the corner of his mouth, currently seated in front of his locket with as much ease as if it were a computer. probably more than if it were a computer, to be quite honest -- he's never used a computer in his life, but he's pretty damn used to more supernatural methods of communication. at least this is way simpler than talking through rainbows.]

Hey, I'm Jason. I've told a few people about this whole exploration trip my own group was working on, so I figured I might as well give an update on how that's going.

[and behind him, over his shoulder, is luke, with his back to jason as he holds his own locket up to take in the height of the trees they linger beneath. in the background one can hear:] This is what you'd call a tree, La Rue —

[for the observant viewer, the area they're currently taking a breather in certainly isn't caer glaem or the immediately surrounding areas. it's a forest, sure, but even through the locket it's clearly unusual, the trees all awe-inspiringly enormous. their camp is little more than a few bags dropped off at the base of a gigantic trunk. three bags, to be specific, but gods know where the third member of their little party's gone off to.]

We've bounced around a lot but I think we've covered a pretty decent spread of this place so far. Compared everything to the maps we found and all that. I think so far it's safe to say that those are all pretty accurate. Those worms have been all over too, so I don't think that's a concentrated incident...

[luke's disappeared from the background, but his voice is loud as he stands in front of jason. (not that anyone can see him, but they can hear him loud and clear).] And Grace is choosing to talk to his locket than take in the scenery. C'mon, Grace. Wave for La Rue. You Ares kids always miss out on the whackiest stuff.

[jason, for his part, makes a valiant effort to keep a straight face and be the serious, responsible one here. he can't hep but crack a hint of a smile though, and he raises a hand slightly to indulge luke. and not that anyone can see, but luke wanders off to crane his neck so high to look at the canopy that it almost snaps.]

All that aside, it'd be good to hear how things are going back at the castle too, and maybe in the Unseelie place if any of you guys are feeling particularly talkative.

Out of curiosity, how much ground have you both covered in a day on-average. I'm trying to get an idea of what sort of travel time to expect in the near future. The map doesn't have a scale of however many centimeters constitute a mile.

Uh...it's probably not a good idea to use us as a scale of time and distance and all that. Our methods of getting around are kind of...unusual. And not something anyone else can do, I think.

[The third party member comes by at around this time. Oh, yes, he saw the network post those two did. Hard to miss, really, when he can also hear them. Nico also brings with him the gift of clean water.]

[Jason and Luke appear to work fast at getting bored and being ridiculous. Jason at least gets a couple points for trying to be productive.]

Don't encourage him, Grace, you're only going to make it worse.

[he appears almost guilty for a second, looking up at nico's arrival. and given he wasn't even the one actually being dumb, it's pretty impressive what kind of an effect nico has. for the (physically) youngest member of their group, he makes a good disappointed mother figure.]

I didn't want Clarisse to think I was ignoring her or something.

I'm sure she'll cry herself to sleep if she thought you were ignoring her, Grace. [ luke slaps jason on the back, a job well done there with that excuse, and goes to pick up his forgotten sword, which lies against a tree. but he does like that he played along, though. thalia's brother has spirit. ]

[ clarisse is beyond unimpressed. she's a whole different galaxy away from being anywhere close to impressed and for a moment all she can do is hold her face in her hands. ridiculous. absolutely fucking ridiculous. of course these would be the people she has the misfortune of knowing. ]

[ but better him that her, to be honest. she's glad she doesn't have to deal with luke in person right now. just dealing with him over video has been annoying enough. ]

At least put him on a leash. [ she rolls her eyes and groans. ] And for the love of Ares, take that damn locket away from him.

[it says a lot that he's given up on arguing with that nickname. to be honest though, it's probably more that he's just used to incredibly lame nicknames and puns about his last name: superman, sparky, peter pan, "our saving grace", etc. he puts up with a lot.]

He's a son of Mercu-- Hermes. I doubt there's a thing in the world I could keep away from him for long.

[ it's a fun game, actually, trying to play keep away from a child of hermes. she's gotten a lot of good practice in with chris — though luke is probably better. still, the point remains. ]

[ he thinks to ignore clarisse's response, since he already has her attention in a private conversation, but luke will never pass an opportunity to make her see red and be red. pissing clarisse off makes him feel alive — and it reminds him of a time he doesn't particularly want to think about, where snarking and bantering with her had been a part of his daily routine. regardless of how their conversation has spiralled in private, luke smirks. ] You'd love it if I was on a leash.

Not that I remember? But I mean, we haven't covered everything, and we've kinda been jumping from place to place almost randomly so there's probably plenty that we've missed. Why, is it important?

[ he stops craning his neck. he thinks to leave it there, but luke's only an asshole to the people he knows. and she wants to know for a reason. ] But this place is enormous. There might be a — [ he frowns. ] — Weirwood tree around. Somewhere.
