[He's been toying with the idea of video for about an hour; but he's taken the contacts out for now, and he's too aware that Jem might pick up her locket and see him. And so, he goes with voice. ]

So, fairies. That's - that's great.

[Now that he's got this locket working, he's not actually sure what to say. 'Hi! I'm Kieren, I like the Ramones and long walks through the graveyard'? Christ. ]

Listen, I'm still a bit overwhelmed. If overwhelmed is the right word to use. I've been through some pretty weird shit, but this really takes it to a whole new level.

[A beat. ]

My name's Kieren. I was hoping someone might be able to make some sense out of this? If that's even possible.

Fantastic. It did seem a bit too optimistic to hope for something simple.

[He hesitates for a moment, before:]

Sorry, do you mind if I don't have my face pop up?

[Margaery tilts her head curiously, a smile crossing her lips a moment later.]

Not at all. Would you prefer it if I hid mine as well?

Your face is fine. Mine is a bit of a shock at first.

[A beat. ]

It'll be more exciting than home, at least. Have you been here a long time?

[mildly]

Long enough to have seen all sorts of faces.

[She smiles, more gentle than teasing.]

Some months now. I'd thought it different from my home at first, safer. But it turns out to be much the same lately.

[mixcds]

Does it? I'm sorry about that. The war - it's all seems sort of senseless, when you don't really know what's going on.

[All sorts of faces; that's somewhat comforting. ]

[mildly]

It truly does. But then, I've no knowledge of such things. My brother-

[Margaery almost falters, but recovers quickly.]

-my brother understood it far better. Oh, I'm Margaery.

[mixcds]

[He tries a lighter tone. Joking: ]

Makes two of us. I guess my little sister is more of a soldier than me.

[He wishes she weren't. ] I'm Kieren. It's nice to meet you, Margaery.

[mildly]

You have a younger sister! How marvelous, what's her name?

[mixcds]

Her name's Jem.

[Fondly:] She's a right cheeky sod, but she's alright.

[mildly]

It's a lovely name. She must be quite dear to you.

[Because she can hear the fondness in his voice.]

...'right cheeky sod'?

[mixcds]

She's a handful, I mean. She's the rebellious sort. I think she takes after me, if I'm honest.

[mildly]

I'll be sure to remember that phrase.

You sound close. You must miss her already.

[mixcds]

She's here, in Caer Scima. But she's off doing her own thing, probably too embarrassed to be seen with her older brother.

[mildly]

Is she as shy as you are?

[mixcds]

I don't think so. She's better looking - braver, too.

[mildly]

It wouldn't surprise me to find that both things run in your family.
