[A very annoyed teenager is somewhere in Caer Scima. Over his right shoulder rests a sheath for a light blade, possibly a rapier. The handle isn't within view, but from the way it sits the sword is likely in there.]

These little Ainsel creeps or whatever they call themselves have been running amok for days! I don't think the leaders here have made much effort, if any, to do something about them, though! Is it this bad on both sides?! For claiming we're their guests or soldiers, they're certainly not treating us very well! I-

[Just then, a small pair of glowing red hands pop up from behind his shoulder and latch on to the sheath. Elliot nearly loses his balance before turning his head enraged.]

DON'T TOUCH THAT YOU LITTLE-!

[The locket goes dark, but from the way it was moving at the end it can be assumed that he ended the feed and let go of it to fight off the latest infected imp.]

Two months. And I would think so; I mean, they want our help, so leaving us in the dark would sort of... hurt that.

Got it. That makes it sound like they have odd priorities on how to get help from us. They're willing to see us, but if any inexperienced person is in trouble from these things it's not worth their attention?

They're not human. And- honestly, I'm not even sure if the king can talk.

They're not? [He hadn't asked because...well, why did he need to?] ...That's no excuse to not treat us like people!

This is a fairy world. They're- well, from what I can tell, immensely powerful magical beings that are human in appearance.

[That did explain a lot. Like how he had stopped being dead, for example. He considers this for a few moments.]

Fine, if that's really the case, I suppose it's possible they know nothing about basic decency that should exist even in their "chaos". Obviously someone needs to teach them if they don't!

As long as you do it politely. You know, set a good example.

I can try, but if they don't understand politeness in the first place, it may hardly be necessary.

The queen has wolves. It might be a good idea just so they don't bite you.

She keeps wild animals as pets just to use against people? That's cowardly!

They were Shardholders once, she said. Ones that failed three times, but came back as wolves to stay with her.

[Well he...was not expecting an answer like that. So he needs a second to process it.]

Assuming that's even possible here, what kind of story is that?! If she thinks they're unreliable, continuing to use them is just being cruel.

Apparently they came back because they loved her.

[As much as he'd like to complain, he's all about people choosing their own path which is pretty much what that sounds like.]

It's an interesting tale, I'll give it that. I still haven't seen much to support that she's worth that much loyalty yet.
