[For a moment, Aubri stares at the locket. His ear tufts are up, his head cocked slightly to the side. When he speaks, his accent is obvious, with rolling consonants and hissed sibilants.]

My name is Aubri. Yes, I am a gryphon. [Because seriously everyone's asking.]

No, I do not breathe fire. Yes, I can fly. I prefer to fly. Yes, I know what humans are. No, I am not the one of my kind, though I may be in this world. Yes, I can speak. [Obviously.] And, finally, yes, the talons -- [he holds them up and, yep, pretty wicked looking] -- do make certain things difficult.

[Pause] Did I miss anything?

I have five of them. And three sisters. It makes home noisy, sometimes. But meals are always quiet.

No one likes to speak while eating. It's distracting.

[Will grins.]

But its nice, having meals with lots of people all the same.

Hmm, yes. [Pause] Tell me more of your home.

I live in a small village near the river Thames. My family lives on a small farm on the edge of the town. Although its not really a farm. Mum raises chickens and rabbits.

Even small farms are nothing to scoff at. They take work.

[lightbranded]

They do, that. [He grins.]

I suppose having a very large family helps a bit with the work.
