[ It takes little time for Thorin to realize he must learn as much as he can about these lands. If he can't leave, if he can't go back, then at the very least he ought to make sure he finds a safe place for him and the few he keeps close. He has not met many so far he would ask questions, and even the few he did ask could only tell him so much.

Library it is, then. However, this becomes a problem when, after almost an hour of looking through the castle, he can't find the place.

Not only that, but he also ends up getting lost through the corridors.

When he speaks to the locket, he is not actually asking anyone. He is asking the locket itself for directions. ]

Tell me the way to the library.

[ He frowns at the locket for the longest time, waiting for some kind of immediate response, frown deepening when it doesn't come. ]

This useless-- [ And it shuts off. ]

[ Well, well. Look who isn't dead.

Thranduil, having already posted his own message to the network today, procrastinates for a while before responding to Thorin and decides to opt out of a visual conference. The last time he saw Thorin alive, the dwarf-lord had been a hero; the last they spoke was a different story and two-hundred years ago. ]

Can you not ask one of the servants the way?

[ Probably not because #stubborndwarf but that is what they're there for. ]

[Luckily for Thorin, Bilbo turns right onto his hallway, an apple halfway to his mouth when he sees the wayward Dwarf and stops. His eyebrows raised he gives Thorin a curious look.]

Thorin?

Don't think it's gonna answer you, bro.

[ hee ]

[ It was only a matter of time for them to speak to one another, even if through the locket. It takes Thorin a few moments to recognize the voice but he does, with a scornful twitch to his lip that does not show when it is through voice only that they communicate.

Though honestly he's surprised the Elvenking would even answer to his accidental message of his willingly. ]

I did. Their directions were wrong.

[ Meaning he only got more lost. Then he didn't ask again because that would mean admitting he didn't know where he was. ]

[ Thorin is busy arguing pointlessly with the locket, though his voice no more than a grumble, when he hears his name, and he turns around. ]

Mister Baggins. [ He looks from the hobbit to the device, then shoves it into his pocket. ] Do you know how to get to the library from here?

Perhaps someone else will.

[ A pause. ] That is not my name.

[Side-eyeing this one.

Yep it's Muttery Dwarf. Thorin, yes, the heir of Thror. Maybe he'd be better renamed as Famous Dwarf. Either way he's one of only a few dwarves she learned the names of. Well. One of two, until she arrived here and learned Kili's name. Either way, terrible guest. Not as bad as Scary Dwarf, but pretty bad.]

[And yet she's offering to let him take advantage of her hospitality again.]

[ Contrary to popular belief, Elves do roll their eyes. The wisdom in Thranduil opting for an audio line is probably en par with that of the Valar, right now.

Almost casually, if not for the dryness, he unhurriedly repeats back, ] The directions of the people who have dwelt in that castle for years were wrong.

[ Maybe he's just checking he heard that properly. Possibly. ]

[ He is not the least bit apologetic for his manners, and he was hardly a guest back in Esgaroth. And honestly, even if he were he wouldn't care much either.

One way or another, he doesn't recognize the voice that addresses him. He had barely heard Bard's children speak, and if he recognized any it would have been the boy's. ]

[ Hopefully she's not expecting a 'please'. ]

[ Answered as dryly, raised eyebrow almost heard on his voice. ]

Why, are you calling me a liar? [ Again? ]

Not if you ask me like that, I won't.

[If he's going to get all uppity, he can wait until he chooses to be more polite.]

[ His sigh is quiet, but it shows when his shoulders lift and fall, eyes closing just so he won't roll them at the girl. ]

Will you... show me?

[ That is about as far as he'll go. ]

[There's a fairy sitting on Celebrian's shoulder.]

Have you asked the fairies around the castle, Master Dwarf?

[ This dwarf. ]

The library is vast and a central fixture. The deeper you go into the heart of the castle, the more likely you are of finding it. [ Moving this along — ] I have seen more of your kin than I have of you, Thorin Oakenshield. What business do you have in the archives of that castle?

[He sees the motion with another raised eyebrow before smiling.]

Hmm, I believe so! Would you like me to take you there? [See, Thorin? Ask nicely and you shall receive.]

[And like that, she's closed the locket and headed out her door.]

[ Elves. (No, there's not even a distinction there.) ]

What is it to you? [ Forever suspicious. ] Leave my nephews be.

[ He's just asking here. He didn't even say please. ]

I would, yes. [ Not that he was lost or anything. ]

[ The elf count on this announcement of his is already too high. This one he does not recognize, however. ]

Half the fairies are currently intent on attacking me, rather than help me. And I asked one, but their directions were wrong.

[ No they weren't. He just didn't follow them properly. ]

[ Right, the feast hall. That leaves him to find his way to the feast hall instead.

So Sigrid might end up waiting for a good number of minutes before the dwarf finally manages to find his way there, though it is only when he sees the girl waiting there that he knows he's in the right place. ]

I have barely spoken with your nephews, yet my point stands.

[ Stop picking fights, Thorin. ]

I ask because while I was at Caer Glaem, I spent a great deal of time in its archives. I offer you my help.

[ Since Thorin basically won the Battle of the Five Armies for them at the last minute, Thranduil rather owes him ... but he can't exactly say that, so. ]

[With Thorin that's as nice as he'll get.

Bilbo smiles at him, turning back the way he came with a glance back at Thorin.] Should be this way.

Why are you looking for the library anyways? If I may ask.

[The elf count in your life is going to be too high, guess who made friends with your nephews, Thorin?]

Many fairies are ill, you need calm the ones that are violent. Perhaps you might ask one of the healthy fairies to lead you rather than direct you?

[Unless Thorin is deaf, there's no doubt he'll be able to hear the sound of some very impolite words in Khuzdul being shouted rather fiercely, accompanied by yelps and the occasional sound of wood hitting something solid.

Kili's found himself in a bit of a situation. Caught in the middle of six angry imps, he bats at them as best he can, but the damn things keep moving before he can hit them. He's bleeding in several places from where they've bitten or scratched at him, and he's resorting now to using his walking stick to try and hit them, which is largely unsuccessful.

He manages to hit one squarely in the chest and lets out a triumphant crow as it falls, only to be disappointed when the imp takes flight once more to attack him all the more angrily.

Of course they go after him when he's mostly unarmed.]

[Radagast is getting the hang of this strange locket and he is able to catch the last bit of Thorin's broadcast. That dwarf, definitely looked familiar, he would ask Gandalf but alas.

Instead he peers at the locket, making sure the he's alone where he is in the woods except for the bird on his shoulder.]

Yes, yes you are one of Gandalf's dwarves, are you not?
