[VIDEO] 9 April [SEELIE] A Call to Arms [OPEN]

[ The video is aimed largely past the speaker, to the twichting-writhing forms of three snake-like horned-creatures, the crackles of electricity still racing across their scales as they move. The locket is likely proper up on a rock or tree somewhere, as the speaker is turned to face the worms, his arms up and tattoos glowing electricity crackles from his hands. He is standing on land near a small river-stream near farmsteads. ]

Attention.

I am Kaldur’ahm, recently brought here with the rest of you. I was exploring the rivers and streams nearby and found that several had been blocked by these creatures, and that they were attacking the farms homesteads.

[ One of the worms seems to recover from the temporary paralysis, and lunges towards Kaldur, who leaps away and grasps two devices firmly in his hands. He jumps up again slams downwards on its tail with a water-formed spiked mace, inadvertently severing part of the tip from the worm. He bats the rest of the worm back further away and continues. ]

I am requesting assistance. Several of the civilians have been bitten, and are displaying signs of being in a critical condition due to the creature’s venom. I have been attempting to combat these worms for a few hours, and they grow more resistant to my electric paralyzation with each attempt I try.

[ The severed tail-end starts wriggling violently, and he forms a sledgehammer to knock it back several yards, closer to the still-paralyzed worms. ]

They are quick to regenerate from severed pieces, like echinoderms.

I need those who can help me combat these creatures and those who can help transport the injured to the castle, as well as individuals to help care for those injured by the worms.

{{ooc: The four first comments titled as "Alpha Squad", "Beta Squad", "Gamma Squad" and "Support Team" are for the 'action' part. (Where I will also attempt to GM as worms if people so desire). Feel free to answer the comm itself before immediately jumping into action, or to handwave being assigned to the team you are on and head straight for the action, as well as forming your own little threadlines!

They are more for organization purposes and keeping your squad-mates straight than anything else, and any number of threads can be started below the heading!

NOTE: IC'ly, the Squad assignations are happening on the spot.}}

[ The novelty of the lockets is what prompts Thranduil to keep his close and check it on a loose routine, astonishingly useful as the correspondences are over such a distance and with incredible swiftness. For now, he sets it aside again. ]

If they would work with us. [ It bears reminding. As for Radagast, surprised as Thranduil is that Charles knows him (he really shouldn't be by now, he muses) he shakes his head. ] A wizard does as a wizard will, the Brown is of the same order as Mithrandir from my home. He will aid us when we most have need of his skill, but you cannot track him down or force responsibility onto him.

[ Frustrating as it is, Thranduil appears to have long accepted the reality of how wizards work. ]

He is very much an ally. Radagast has lived in my realm for a long time, yet I have never been his Elvenking and nor would I presume to dictate how we wish for him to pursue the matter at hand. He spoke of a darkness in the north, to me, and of perils greater than orcs. The trees whispered of it.

The wizard had his own impetus to explore days before the worms attacked.

[Charles listens with his head tilted slightly to the side and it does not come as a surprise to learn that Radagast comes from the same world as Thranduil.

And perhaps he is hopelessly naive or just overly hopeful but he shakes his head slight and counters.]

Not force or dictate but rather ask. [He ammended.] Would it hurt to ask?

[Because if it could be made to work, even if only enough to give them a direction, rather than trying to cover all four sides of a map with three teams.]

You may ask whatever you wish of him, though he is doubtless about his own business and will not be disturbed from it.

[ The scepticism in Thranduil's face is unshielded, driven home with a pointed look. Wizards, as if he's had enough dealings with them to know not to rely on their timeliness. ]

He also mentioned we should stand and protect ourselves, which is what I suggest we do in the meantime.

[The internal war with himself was visible on the telepath’s face. He wanted to reach out to the wizard and perhaps before the debacle on the beach in Cuba, he would have barreled ahead without heeding Thranduil’s words.

After all, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time Charles leapt first and looked later.

But for once, caution (or was it uncertainty) crept in and for the time being, the telepath stayed his hand. Moving back to the map, he glanced around, looking for a pencil or some writing tool.]

Then we need to do this the hard way.

Take everything we learn from each encounter; location, fighting method any hint of intention from the worms and we start extrapolating and projecting possible objectives. Even if they appear to be attacking at random, they must want something. If we can identify what that something is, perhaps we can get ahead of them.

They do have a strange sense of direction, though I cannot tell if they are being inadvertently ushered to our walls or fleeing at random. If they burrow and swim as well as they devour whole families, they will be strong enough to go far, even if wounded.

Grimm has ordered the archers on the walls to keep fires burning for their use. We should have the torches lit in the bailey, even in daylight.

Fire and water barrels and buckets, if possible.

[Did they have barrels? He'd cross that bridge later.]

We won't do ourselves any favors if we burn the castle down around our heads.

[As he spoke, Charles begins to push at the map, trying to suss out if Thranduil has a diagram of the castle itself.]

[ Ack, he keeps forgetting these are not Elves, those who would never burn down what was not intended. ]

Water barrels are a sensible idea.

[ As Charles shifts through the map, the Elvenking needs to be no mind-reader to unearth a stretch of curled parchment with the majority of the castle's lower-tier on it. ]
