I heard some people have been here a few months. I got a few questions.
are there any rules about the woods
what animals are there around here [ it might help if you specified where "here" is, gale. ]
what district are you from?

[ the third question is a last-minute addition, a sign he's not entirely convinced yet that his being here isn't a capitol trick. gale debates adding anything else, but common sense provides the more obvious answers. he's not in the mood to waste anyone's time, especially his own. ]

Apart from the trees, most of the beasts here are not quite what they seem - do not trust that even the small and helpless may not also be dangerous. Some have unusual powers also. As long as you go armed, you should do well.

Not often. But we passed through there but recently, and my brother rides often to the hunt.

does he keep all he hunts?

[ he has had one answer in the affirmative but. ]

No. Celegorm hunts for the joy of it, as much as to put food on the table - there is little need for that here, but I know he brings his kills back to the castle in any case. I have seen him let his prey go, if there is not a need for meat.

[ for the joy of it. as much as gale loves hunting, it has always been due to necessity. he doesn't trap or kill anything unless he has a solid purpose for doing it. only the assurance that his brother lets prey go spares maglor the rant. ]

Not here, no. If you enjoy the hunt, likely Celegorm would welcome others - it has always been one of the things that brought him most joy.

There is - a poor one, but it is there. It is safer than cutting through the woods, but even then the trees encroach on it.

[ doubtful. even if this celegorm is welcoming, gale has his hunting partner — and he's not about to trade her for a stranger. there is no one else he trusts besides katniss, not to hunt and certainly not to watch his back in such dangerous woods. ]

If you do, tell him Maglor sent you. [ of course, the sort of hunt that Celegorm rides on is hardly the sort of one that Gale is thinking of ]
