[when the feed comes on, Grell looks calm, put together, in more practical clothing than her favoured dresses. it's early morning, and the sunlight is illuminating the space outside where she is.]

Right then. The call to arms has been proclaimed once again, and I'm more than aware that there are those of us who either know little about what's expected of us, or who have let their joints rust over in the calm.

That ends today. Preparations at the Ward have been re-established for the month, and if you are uncertain in your abilities, wish to try something out, or need to know which end of a sword to grab, attend the training sessions that will be held there for shardbearers and natives alike. Beginner's sessions are in the morning like always, eight thirty sharp, and that's being generous. Advanced sessions are in the afternoon, but that's hardly an excuse to sleep in too late - if last time has taught us anything, it is that we need to be the sharpest we can.

Those that are confident enough in their skills that believe themselves capable of giving instruction, wherever you are in Allaidh Darach, please make yourself known to me - I can hardly carry out this task on my own. I'll be running on good faith, but if I hear that you can't live up to your claims, you will be ousted and I'll see to it that you know exactly what I think of you wasting students' time.

Greetings. For any recent arrivals who I haven't introduced myself yet, I am Baron Balem Abrasax. In the wake of recent events, I have decided to open the doors of the Military Academy to any Unseelie who wish to use its resources.

[Yes, for free, no tuition or anything, bargain!]

All I ask is that you aid or teach the native students as you would fellow shardbearers, if you can.

[He pauses for a moment.]

...And one more question. I've been alive for many thousands of years, but my eternal youth was made possibly only by technologies which don't exist here. I will wither and die in this world, if I am here too long. Yet, I have encountered many of you who don't age, without any technology at all, presumably through magical means.

How would one achieve such a feat? I've heard of the Philosopher's Stone, the Elixir of Life, and the Great Panacea, if you know anything about any of those and where to find them. Otherwise, any other leads are appreciated and I will look into researching them on my own when I have less immediate matters to attend to.

[He falters for a moment. There is fear in his voice, as much as he tries to disguise it. Fear of death looming over his shoulder, fear of every ache and pain and wrinkle and any other sign of aging he checks meticulously for every single day.]

Please, I will reward you generously for this information. [He clears his throat.] But yes, come and train at the Academy if you wish, and any other aid that can be given to my Spire will be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you.

[It's been a few days now, but when Merida flicks the locket on, she looks like an absolute mess. Her hair is disheveled, it looks like she hasn't slept in days, and in spite of how she's feeling, she's only contacted a couple of people. Who knows how many others he knew? There's a couple of wolfhounds on either side of her, and she rubs at her eyes, wiping a the corner.]

Lancer - that is, Cu Chulainn - he left th' Drabwurld this last week.

[Her throat clogs up and she has to clear it before she continues, one of the hounds nuzzling her and licking her cheek before she gently places a hand on his collar.]

I'm goin' to be livin' in Leathann from now on, since th' fortress is gone, but I'll still be comin' an' goin' between there an' th' trainin' grounds. Anybody that had any unresolved business with him, I'll try an' follow through with it.

[There's a pause before she lets her lips quirk into a tired, wry smile.]

I don't suppose anyone knows a cure for heartbreak, huh?

[And the feed ends.]

[Isn't it funny how she and Lightning had been talking about different options and the war not that long ago? Isn't it funny how Xion had expressed the opinion that the whole thing was wrong, that sacrificing Seelie worlds seemed counterproductive considering they were trying to save them all? And now here the are, faced with that war, and how it was coming, and soon.

She'd been told more than once before now to think carefully, and if she's going to do that, if she isn't going to make the decision now... She needs to figure out what to do with herself in the meantime.]

We really... don't have a choice about all this, do we?

[It's an abrupt sort of question, probably, and one she wonders if she should really be asking aloud at all. But it starts out her post with a tone of reluctance, one that never really fades away.]

Nevermind. Sorry.

[Deep breath. It's been a day or so since the call went out, with Xion already conveniently back at Caer Scima. And she's been observant in those 24 hours, for all that it's helped.]

Almost everybody I've seen already seems to know what to do. Back home, I did missions and things all the time, but I only really had one job. And it's the one job that I can't do now.

[Can't because she refuses to. Sure she may have occasionally done other things, like recon, but her primary mission was always collecting hearts and fighting heartless, especially while Roxas was asleep. And now that she knows, fighting people, destroying their worlds isn't something she really wants any part of. Especially now that she has friends on the other side, ones that've helped her like Riku and Terra and Dick and Merida and Korra. But it's something she knows the monarchs would say she definitely should do. The thought is sickening.]

I don't really know what I'm doing here. Not... right now at least.

[Both in general and for this war effort. She hesitates for a long time then adds one last question.]

What can we do? For now, at least.

[She isn't so sure she wants to know what people think about her opinions on the whole war.]
