[ Well indeed. The Red Hand's plan didn't quite go as they wanted, but the Void didn't kill them all. That's something, right?

Of course, John doesn't say that, or much else that he's thinking about the battle or the Gem or the far worlds. He just shakes his head a little. ]

If anyone's ended up somewhere and has a hell of a long trip to get where they actually want to be, I might be able to play taxi for a while. I fully intend on checking all these new -- to us, at least -- places out, so I might as well be useful while I'm at it.

The ring I used to travel quickly does not seem to... recognize the map. Regardless, there is nowhere I need to be. For once.

The city I'm in is nowhere I've heard of or seen on any Drabwurld map. I had half-wondered if I was dreaming.

[ Being out in the sand dunes will do that to a person. ]

[Of course he's still here; he's shardless, like her, but he could've still been lost during the fall. Merida's feed shows her at half waist as she feeds her pups, many of them not leaving her side even amid their eating, and she eventually looks up at the feed and smiles at John.]

I keep thinking we're talking about flying when it comes to long-range transport. I don't think I'll ever get that out of my head when someone says Taxi.
