[ When Eggsy starts up the video broadcast, he's standing in an outdoor area of the Station, in front of one of its restaurants. He'd come close to his place during his scouting mission last month, but he hadn't had time to investigate back then. It sounds like they've got some hell coming their way, but there's not much they can do before those mechanical creations appear except for prepare.
Right now, he's planning to kill two birds with one stone. ]
So what's with this place? It's like a tiny slice of home.
[ Despite the modern surroundings, Eggsy's puca is milling around in the background, a dark and nasty creature that he somehow managed to tame -- sort of. ]
Are we allowed to stay here? Then again, might not be the best idea. There's been some earthquakes... I think.
[ They don't get them in London, so he's not that familiar with what they feel like, but still. The ground shaking for a few seconds without any warning... what else could it be?
He draws a hand over his mouth as he runs through his mental list of what else he wanted to ask. ]
Oh, also. Battle's comin' up, I need a teacher for sword fighting and magic and archery. I know there's loads of different kinds of magic, but if you wanna tell me what you specialize in, it might help me figure out where to start.
[ This whole thing is kind of awkward, talking to no one and everyone at the same time, so he finishes off abruptly. ]
Think that's it. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
[ Once he's done with that, Eggsy pockets his locket and starts to explore the rest of the Station, so he's primed to run into anyone who might call it home -- or anyone who's there for a visit. ]

[Focusing on the original topic, he appears to be analyzing Eggsy for a moment before he grins a little more brightly, the gap between his teeth prominent. Buddy. Thank you for talking about things he actually understands.]
Good to know you're from a normal world though. [The way he says "normal" almost is coupled with a laugh. At this point what's normal? But it's one he knows more about and can use as a basis.] I'm kinda used to fighting with all of my tech, too. Coming here without any of it was seriously unhelpful. [He pauses, scrunching his nose in thought.]
Magic-wise probably your best bet is making this world work to your advantage. Work with the elements, work with the ancient magic system, that kinda stuff. You activate your shard yet? It's not a bad idea, boosts some of your other stats. If you're looking for something to go undercover, there're runes that provide temporary invisibility and there's a class on illusion magic at the university. [Not that the university is going to keep offering classes, but.] It's a little harder to master but it's totally doable. I've been working with all of those for a year and a half. It might not be a bad idea to shell out some marks for enhanced weaponry, too.
video;
He straightens up a little at the mention of being from a normal world. Even if there is no such thing, Eggsy knows what Hiro is getting at. They're from places that are at a similar point of technological progression, and that's rare enough here that he lets out a sigh of relief. If this kid has learned how to navigate this world without tech, then maybe Eggsy can too.
So he listens to all of his advice, making mental notes though he's already got a few questions. Even though he's been here over a month now, in so many ways he still feels as if he's still brand new. ] First thing. How do you activate your shard? [ One hand goes to his chest where he knows said shard supposedly sits. ] And what does it do? Just make you stronger, faster, that kind thing? Second thing, what d'you mean by advanced weaponry? [ Because nothing Eggsy's seen here is that advanced, as far as he's concerned. ]
video;
Yup. Enhances your strength and your magic and it means that this world can start working to your advantage. Activating the thing and mastering its activation takes a while…couple of months to practice but even just activating can really help you out. [Despite the mechs hunting down shards, but details.] To activate it you have to have a teacher though, somebody who's already mastered the level you're trying to unlock just like any other kind of magic. You have to spend a lot of time with them before you can train on your own. The guy that taught me was working on the level above me but he was able to teach me. It's…kinda really hard if you don't know what you're expecting. You have to draw on your connections from your home world and really concentrate on that tie to activate the thing, but when you do it glows. It's a cool process once it's completed but it's harder than it sounds. [He frowns slightly, scratching the back of his neck.] Couple of times I actually sort of wanted to quit trying. But once it's mastered you can start wielding its power a little better. It's never really easier, but it's more tolerable and powerful.
But if you don't wanna go that route, there's the weaponry. Talk to some of the smiths around here and they can probably provide you with runed blades or whatever you want for the right price. Things that have stronger protective properties, things made with the finest materials, pretty much anything you can dream of and pay for. [Another beat.] I've been making my own weapons for some of my friends, too. It's kinda what I did back home but I have a lot less to work with. Just another reason to heavily rely on the magic I have learned. I could show you some examples if you're really curious.
video;
The weapon route sounds somewhat simpler, and Eggsy can guess that these smiths get pretty creative with how they enchant blades. He still wishes he could find something closer to a gun, though. Maybe magic arrows that behaved like bullets...? ] Payment is sorta the issue there, I'm guessing they don't come cheap. [ And Eggsy doesn't have much of an income.
He's a little surprised to hear that Hiro's made his own weapons, though. He looks pretty young to have mastery over such a complicated skill set, but given that he's got little in the way of time, it's not like Eggsy can hope to commission something from him. A demonstration, on the other hand, shouldn't take too long. ] I'd like to see what you can do. [ He nods.] That something you can show me over these lockets or do I need to come to you?
video;
He nods in mild sympathy. Gold marks are hard to come by if you don't have a decent job, it seems, and he knows how pricy some of those things can run.] Not exactly. You can try to barter and trade for stuff but that's a little more challenging. I'm not nearly as good as the actual smiths in this world but I've been enhancing a lot of pre-made stuff. I was better at it back home.
[There's a pause.] Either or, I guess. I have access to the midach's office or I can show you the absolute basics over the lockets. It might be easier to go for in-person though since some of it gets a little more complicated.
video;
Since magic doesn't require buying anything, but rather involves drawing from his own power source in his chest (weird as that still is to him), that might be the better bet for now. ]
The midach's office is here, right? [ He takes a look around him. ] Or... in the process of moving, or somethin'. [ Clarke had mentioned something along those lines. ] I can also head to wherever you are, though, if that's easier. [ He has a mount that can move at lightning speeds, travel isn't much of an issue for him anymore. ]
video;
[It's a light jab, a small hint that he hasn't quite relayed everything he's capable of.] Hope you're ready to take notes though.
video;
The mention of notes causes him to blanch, though. ] Shit. Guess I'm gonna have to find myself a notebook or something. [ The Station would be the best place to track down something familiar, though, so he isn't too worried. ] Anyhow, I'll see you soon?
video;
video → action;
[ Eggsy closes his locket then and sets out on a quest for a notebook and a pen. Not one of the quills that seems to be common around here, he doesn't know how the fuck to do calligraphy, but an actual pen.
Once he has those items secured, he goes in search of the midach's office, thankfully already knowing the general direction it's in because of Clarke.
He spots Hiro outside and lifts a hand in a wave. It's always a bit odd meeting up with people who he's only spoken to over the locket thus far, but it's preferable. ] Hey.
action;
Hey dude. [And then, he furrows his eyebrows together quizzically.] I'm not sure I ever got your name, actually. [Not that that bothers him much, seeing how he's pushing himself off the wall and turning toward the door.] Be on the lookout for a sec, would you? [With that, he's using one hand to wave over the door, making quick work to disable runes and swipe over the paneling, a small flurry of magic before the door clicks and he pushes it open. He'll step inside, gesturing for Eggsy to follow and once they're in it's back to immediately warding them inside.]
At least you found the right tools for the job. [A nod to the pen and notebook.] Have a seat.
action;
It's Eggsy.
[ He does as he's told and takes a look around the area to make sure that no one is watching them, but he'd been aware of it while walking over too and he's fairly certain the cost is clear.
Once the way is open, Eggsy follows Hiro inside and takes a seat, watching how he does something to the door. He cranes his next toward Hiro with a frown. ] What is that?
action;
It's when they're in the office and sealed up again that he answers the question, turning to lean his back against the door.]
It's a series of wards to lock us in and a few silencing runes as well. It allows for the complete privacy of the office. It was one of the first basic runes I learned here, but Clarke taught me the specific ones for the office a little while ago. It's just one example of how runes are useful.
But that's just part of the reason you're here, right? [And he's moving again, heading for a beat-up backpack on the floor.] Which part are you really interested in out of everything that we brought up? It'll be a good place to start.
action;
He remains in his seat, but sits up straight so that he can keep an eye on what Hiro is doing with the backpack, mainly out of curiosity. ]
Clarke also showed me how runes can enchant items and shit, but beyond that I don't really know what they do. You mentioned temporary invisibility, right? Guess we can start there.
[ Granted, one of those enchanted items can also make you invisible, but it would be better to not have to rely on that. ]
action;
I did mention temporary invisibility. [He looks up expectantly, fully waiting for Eggsy to take notes.] The thing about runes is that a lot of them can have double meanings and it's more about the intent behind them than actually drawing them out. [He opens a jar of paint, grabbing a paintbrush from his pocket.] Like most other magic it's about really concentrating on your intent and what you want to do. With the invisibility rune, it also doubles as a pain-alleviator. We use it sometimes for healing spells. [He's busy painting something on the back of his left hand, showing him the dag rune that isn't entirely closed.] This is what the rune looks like. You just close this gap here to complete it. Pretty easy, right?
action;
[ After that little remark, though, he settles in to listen to Hiro's explanation, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his thighs and direct all of his attention to the art project. Eggsy isn't much of an artist unless he counts "street art," but it also doesn't look like these runes are overly complicated. ] It can take away your pain? Why, cause you're erasing it or something? [ Either way, it would be helpful in allowing him to persist in the battlefield even after he'd been injured, although that could potentially be dangerous too.
At Hiro's question, Eggsy scoffs and shrugs his shoulders. ] Looks easy, anyway. Go on.
