[ She debated for a while whether it would be more prudent to put this to video or text, but ended up deciding on the former. Given the subject matter, it would make sense that she might need to be recognized. So here is a dark-haired young woman with a deep red cloak hanging at her shoulders, sitting by herself just outside of what is recognizably the main complex of the Station. The sun has been up for a little while, but the light peaking over the building and surrounding trees gives way to the early part of day. ]

Good morning. [ She smiles. ] My name is Asami Sato. I know there's a lot going on right now, to say the least, but I'm hoping that you can take a minute out of your day to listen to what I have to say.

[ She straightens, her shoulders leveling as her expression, though still warm, turns more serious. ]

We're all aware of how the Void is growing closer to the coasts, so I've recently taken up the task at trying to help those who may not have the resources to get out of harm's way in time. The edge of the Void is closing in on the lands of Leana and there are a number of villages that could be lost.

[ Anyone who has taken part or at least heard of Gilgamesh's attempt to save Leathann will be familiar with the situation. The Void is, of course, ever looming, and those at the coasts are just at the mouth. It doesn't seem a permanent solution to move anyone inland, but it seems worse to leave them to be gobbled up. ]

As honored as I am to take on this responsibility, I can't do this alone. I've been in the Drabwurld for a little over three months now, but there's still a lot to learn. If there's anyone out there who is familiar with the land on the southern end of the continent, I'd really like to meet or speak with you.

[ There's more, of course, because the sheer size of her intent covers multiple settlements. Asami exhales lightly through her nose, business face on. ]

I'll offer what I can in return for services or information. If anyone has the ability to lend themselves over to help escort civilians, recommendations or access to transportation of groups of people, or are willing to donate anything to the cause, I'll be in your debt.

[ She picks up a piece of parchment off to the side, the edge just barely caught by the live feed. ]

I'll be heading to the White Citadel in a day and then to Caer Glaem afterwards before turning towards Northern Leana. The end goal will be to start moving them north, hopefully eventually to Parrais. [ Asami sets the paper back down, turning her gaze back to the compass. She smiles again, looking a little hopeful. ] Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. I know you'll be putting your faith into someone unknown, but I'd really like to help as many people as we can. This is their home, and sometimes losing that can make you feel like you've lost everything. Let's...make sure that doesn't happen.

Take a Marquis. [ he shrugs the shoulder martha isn't sleeping on. it's as easy as that, in his opinion — maybe his foxes agree, too. there's a sole bark that instigates a whole lot of barking for a quick second, his foxes rolling in the grass and nipping at one another, before they fall silent. he looks away from her during it before returning his gaze to his locket. ]

If you want the natives to take you seriously and haul ass away from their homes, you're going to need someone who holds a little weight in one hand and a whole lot of promises in the other.

[ He says it so simply--like she can just ask a Marquis or Marchioness to abandon their post during the training exercises. Of course, she'd considered reaching back out to Nico or maybe even Hermione if she had any direction she could point him in, but those are really the only two she has any working relationships with. ]

That would definitely be a lot more persuasive, I'll admit. But I'm not sure if they'd have time to spare right now...

[ he isn't like the gods, who believe everyone they speak to has heard of their legend. luke has always wanted to be remembered as a hero, and despite being so, living that dream in death, he doesn't espect anyone to really know his name in the drabwurld. he writes himself off more than the gods ever had with their own children. it's not easy, transitioning from years of being simply another hermes kid to being regarded as someone who people actually know something about. ]

[ he doesn't expect her to know him, but sometimes luke forgets he even needs that introduction. he's no longer luke, son of hermes, but someone who stands on his own two feet here. he shrugs, and says, so easily: ] I have time to spare.

[ He says it so easily that Asami can't help but be caught off guard. But she's quick on the uptake--though she doesn't recognize him, the implication of what he's saying is clear.

Now it's time to feel a little foolish. ]

...I am so sorry.

[ Oh dear. What a great way to make a first impression, right? ]

I didn't mean to be disrespectful, Marquis--?

Luke Castellan.

[ he's not zeus. he's not going to strike her down with lightning because she didn't recognise him. he's not athena, either, who would curse her with snakes for hair. he finds amusement in her reaction, not even bothering to hide his smirk as he thinks to not alleviate her of any embarrassment. ]

[ he may be a knight of the golden cadre and the kid who pried the dara from a wall, and the kid who leapt for the moon and carried it back to the throne room, but he's just luke without all the titles. sometimes that's enough. ]

[ he shakes his head, feigning hurt, ] I don't know if it'll ever stop smarting, you not knowing who I am.

[ And yes, that is a name she's heard before. How could she not? The fact that she's been talking to him and hasn't even realized it? Yes, definitely embarrassing. ]

Of course, Marquis Luke Castellan. [ Save face, save face. ] I'm sorry I didn't recognize you, but i have heard of you.

[ his faces scrunches up, partially in a wince. ] It's just Luke. Less of a mouthful, way more simpler.

[ and it's less confronting, too — for him, that is. he doesn't want to be going around acting all proper and whatnot now. he's still luke castellan, the lightning thief, and that, in truth, is the only title he really wants to bear. ]

[ but he grins. even though he suspects he knows what she's heard, luke can't be quite sure — his cows, for one, like to make up a lot of random and untruthful shit to see what actually sticks. ]

Let me guess. You've heard shit like how much of a catch I am.

[ It feels a little disrespectful to do that, but she's got no reason to turn him down. Nico had preferred to let go of his title, at least while they were speaking one-on-one in his office. ]

...Alright, Luke.

[ Aaaand she's fairly certain he's just trying to make this as awkward as possible. But she'd misjudged Gilgamesh when they first met and he had given it a good, solid effort to fluster her properly. She knows better, now! ]

I've heard that you're a knight with some unconventional talents.

[ Look at her, putting things delicately. ]

[ where gilgamesh may have been doing it on purpose, luke isn't. he wouldn't put it past his cows to sing he's a hero while interjecting his name in there. despite having the perfect opportunity to take the piss, luke doesn't. his cows have already done it for him. ]

[ pursing his lips together, he nods. unconventional is a new one, but he doesn't not like it. he still looks amused, ] You shouldn't believe everything that you hear, Miss Sato. Sometimes it's just mindless gossip between girls. [ or cows, trying to do something of a social experiment luke wants no part of. ]

[ after a brief moment, he thinks to amend: ] Most of the time it's just a lot of shit.

[ Well, she certainly raises her brow at that? Between girls, he says? As if gossip can be regulated and stereotyped to one gender. Alright, something to note. As much as she wants to pay homage to his position and offer to help, Asami Sato has a hard time accepting that kind of talk from anyone. ]

You don't say?

[ Of course, she has no idea he's talking about cows or any sort of livestock. Or that they can talk at all. This world is a strange place. ]

So there's no truth to the stories?

[ the biggest gossiper he knows is george. his snake could prove it, if he wasn't so busy chasing after a sound he suspects to be a rat in their midst. ]

[ luke doesn't respond, nor even acknowledge it. asami will learn soon enough luke says things that often are related to an animal or person or olympian he knows. most of the time, though, it's aimed at himself. ]

Not unless they paint you in a good light. I like to believe in those. [ and so rarely does he. liar, he thinks; percy had told him the story of him being regarded as a hero, but he had been so hellbent not to believe him. it went against the stories he'd been telling himself for years. but what asami doesn't know won't hurt her. ]

[ he smiles, ] So, those unconventional talents I supposedly have. Are they going to be of assistance to you?

[ Ah, yes. He's definitely the kind of person you need to read between the lines with, isn't he? Thankfully Asami is perceptive in her own right, but she knows she'll need to tread carefully. Because he did have a point--bringing along a Marquis would greatly increase her chances of success.

And he knows it too, doesn't he? ]

I think I'd be silly to turn you down. [ Despite it all, she manages to smile. ] I'm sure your expertise in general would be more than helpful.

Helpful's not a word anyone would use to describe me.

[ a pain in the ass, a smartass, a jackass — they're usually the words used to describe luke. but he lets it go, not really wanting to focus on semantics when she'd approached the network for assistance and he had replied in the hope to be it. ]

[ and so he decides to embody it now. luke can easily teleport here and there, and while he's growing restless, he figures a few days, if she requires it, spent in the white citadel will be worth it if he performs a good deed. ]

I'll linger down here and wait for your arrival, then. I'll see if I can find a red carpet in the meantime.

[ That's an interesting thing to say, considering he essentially did offer his help. She supposes even just having him along would give her some more clout and bargaining power with the locals. Even that in and of itself. ]

That's very kind of you, but don't hold it up on my account.

[ Regular carpet will be fine. ]
