[ Despite the inherent excitement that is likely what lead to her being actually, properly visible to people outside of the supernatural realm, there are just some things a ghost cannot shake off. Like the fact that while on recording, regardless of how corporeal they are in person, a ghost is still a ghost. She's visible, but only to an extent. Like a hazy, transparent projection, embossed against the image as if poorly photoshopped in. ]

So does this thing record or is it more like a .. live broadcast sort of thing? Kind of hope not, but if it is, hello! I guess.

[ If there was something she wanted to say ... well, she doesn't seem keen on saying it. Or perhaps there'd been nothing of great importance to begin with. She just sits there looking amicably pleased, watching the little transmission locket in pure interest. ]

... I'm Annie by the way. From England- since I've noticed this isn't England anymore. [ Look she'd only paid partial attention to what the fairies had said, to begin with. ] Anyway, bit of a strange question. Thoughts on, er, vampires? Werewolves? ... Ghosts? Just curious. Study purposes, personal interest. That sort of thing.

[ Another beaming little smile and the transmission ends. She really isn't good at this. ]

[ Now, here is something that goes against some of his initial theories as to what in the world he was doing to end up in a place like this. The idea that he died seemed like a real possibility--not many people survive after getting t-boned by a semi, after all.

But how many different ideas and plains of the afterlife have...well, something that looks eerily like a spirit. The dead of the dead? ]

[ Oh Sam, you are definitely Of The Living. Seriously, ask any ghost ever, they'll tell you. But don't ask Annie just yet, she wouldn't know. She does however, look like a terrible liar, with a smile just a little too wide. ]

Yeah. Sort of a ... dorky fascination, you could call it.

[ It's really difficult to reconcile her poor attempt at a cover when she's, clearly, much closer to her subject of interest than she wants to imply. He's seen full-bodied apparitions to simple globes of light, but it's not often that he sees something like this. Semi-transparent and responsive? Not a death echo... ]

[ Is anyone buying this? Still, she seems nice enough. He'll play along. ]

What draws you to it, if you don't mind me asking?

[ Certainly not an echo. Sure, Mitchell had referred to her as such when asking after her to Owen, but she was so much more than that. Not that she'd expect Sam to know right away. ]

Well... I've heard so far that there're a different types of them in different um. Worlds- realms? Where people are from, it seems slightly different in each one, if there are any at all. What other chance are you going to get to hear about other worlds, anyway? Certainly not back home.

[ Interesting. He hasn't really concentrated much on anything other than trying to find his father and brother. Trying to piece together all the different worlds that are coming together, the different peoples...they've been a secondary priority. He's at least managed to clean himself up a bit, but it's clear he's been injured and recently. ]

Where's home? For you.

[ She may come to realize Sam is much more prone to asking questions of his own than providing answers. ]

[ Recent injuries could be awful- but he doesn't look as if he's just walked from a wreckage; they've been cleaned so it gives a slightly less desperate look to it. Who knew; maybe she thought he had gotten himself into a scuffle? ]

Bristol- England. [ And yes, she is catching that knack. Reminds her a bit of someone. ] And you're ... American? Oh gosh, or Canadian- sorry, the accents sound so similar.

[ That places her own accent, but it's better to have the answer than to guess. Her own observations are on the mark too, although Sam wouldn't be able to offer a specific city, no matter how much he'd like to. ]

[ Sam gives a quiet huff and for a moment, he looks like he might smile. He does lean into the feed a bit, the kind of stereotypical posture he assumes when interviewing possible witnesses and leads. ]

Can I ask when you're from?

[ She's seen that look before, though maybe not for the same reasons that Sam has. It's focused interest, for one thing. Harmless, but maybe just this side of warning. Or maybe Annie's just grown paranoid over the past few years.

Still, she keeps her smile and- wait. ]

When? [ Are you sure you're not a ghost, Sam? ] Two-thousand ten. Bit of a weird question. Why, when are you from?

Did you ... [ She starts, but stops and shakes her head. Nevermind; too personal a question. ]

[ ...He figured she would be recently deceased by the modern vernacular and dress, but he didn't really expect her to be from the future. Now that brings a whole new series of questions into the forefront. Sam's brows push together. ]

[ Okay. No, there are the other worlds thing. That can explain this, right? ]

Yyyyyes. [ Squinting at you, Sam. ]

Something wrong? Aren't there different worlds and ... slightly different times, as well? You know, like sci-fi style. Things.

[ His moment of dumb silence is broken with the same logic she unknowingly offered. Sam refocuses on the feed. ]

Yeah.

[ Sci-fi style things. ]

Sorry, just--...never did much reading on time travel or dimension hopping before. It doesn't seem to bother you very much.

[ She chuckles, airy and brief. Almost sarcastic in nature. ]

Yeah, well. You probably wouldn't believe what sort of things I found out about over the past few years. Kind of makes this place seem a bit run-of-the-mill.

... Mostly. The time differences is new, though.

It doesn't have anything to do with...

[ He raises his brows slightly, giving a nod towards the feed. You know, the fact you're dead? ]

[ ... Staring at you, Sam. ]

With what? [ No she does not get what you're gesturing at. She likes pretending to be alive and well again, thanks. ]

[ He really doesn't want to be...rude, especially if she's trying to hide it. He's not sure how she could, considering... ]

...I can see through you.

[ That. ]

[ Which means her immediate reaction is to snap her arms over her chest. Of course her brain catches up only half a second later, but Sam. ]

That's-- That's because. Because my screen is... Ugh, fine. Yes I'm see through, I'm dead. Happy now?

[ Good job, Sam. Good job. Because pissing off Casper has never gone poorly for you, has it? ]

--yeah. I mean--no, not happy that you're dead but...

I just wasn't sure if I was.

[ Still frowning, but at least he seems to have a vaguely valid reason. To which she gives him a brief once over (of what she can see). ]

Doubt it. If you were, you'd be showing up on camera like I would, wouldn't you? A spectre?

I can check if you like, but that means me coming to you. Ghost-trick.

You mean spectral teleportation?

[ Of all the things he's seen and heard around here, that's decidedly one o the most normal. ]

... Yes. I just call it Rentaghost-ing.

[ What comes out is almost a laugh, or a surprised gurgle. It's not particularly attractive, but he hadn't really been planning on finding anything funny in lieu of the awful turn his life had taken even before waking up here. ]

I guess you'd be the expert.

[ His laugh, though painful sounding, still brings her own smile back to it's bright little upward tilt. ]

Yeah. Suppose I would be. Alright, stay where you are. Haven't actually tried this in this er, world, yet.

[ Not that it's hard. His video gives her an idea of where he is, and there's never really been any trick behind it. So in an instant, the video flickers, shorting out and perhaps turning off. Only to leave a now very much visibly solid Annie standing just next to him. ]

[ For all the times he's seen a spirit materialize in front of him, each one is a little different. This is, undoubtably, the first time he's ever had warning for it or hasn't been immediately intent or sending her to the great beyond. (He's not even sure where that is anymore, anyway.)

Still, Sam's eyes do grow a little wider at her arrival, though there's some faint amusement that doesn't quite reach his lips. ]

Rentaghost-ing sounds lucrative.

[ It's a neat trick; one of her favourites, all things considered. ]

It should be. I mean it might be a bit more useful if people could usually see me. Dunno what it is about this place... Gives me a confidence boost, maybe.

Anyway, my trick to figuring out if you're dead, cause I'll be honest I have no idea how to sense whatever you are. I mean it's probably something ghosts can do I just ... don't know how to yet.

[ She reaches out, only a little hesitant, to touch his arm. He'll feel next to no pressure, regardless of how hard she squeezes, and just the faintest chill upon contact. ]

Hm... Nope. You are definitely alive. I can usually take things with me when I pop from place to place- but it only works on inanimate objects. Never worked on a living person before.

[ Actually that gives her ideas; not that it would help, considering the undead man in mind isn't here, but. ]
