[Balem stands with his hands clasped together, head lowered. A cluster of bees swarms around him, and their buzzing can be faintly heard.]

Greetings. I am certain that most have you have heard by now that unfortunately Baron Archer is no longer with us.

[He straightens up, head held high.]

He has left the spire at Archer Point in my care, and I will be serving as Baron from now on. My first priority is making sure that all business is in order. If you had any prior agreements with Baron Archer, I will be happy to discuss them. I welcome any visitors, as well.

If we haven't met, I am Balem Abrasax. Oh, and if you do visit, don't mind the bees if you happen to come across them. They aren't aggressive.

[He holds out his arm and they swarm around it, but do not sting him.]

They're just bees. They can't be allies very prone to taking direction, though it seems you get along well enough.

I think they take direction quite well. They're actually very organized. Lacking in power though, unfortunately.

Well... yes. They're bees.

[ She's not getting this. Okay, so it's the Drabwurld. He can probably talk to bees. That wouldn't be, you know, the weirdest thing. ]

I imagine the queen directs the hive rather well. So what sorts of things do they do for you, if not make honey?

Not much, as of yet. But there is magic here, isn't there? They may be useful eventually. Until then...it's a relaxing hobby, to calm my nerves.

That's true.

[ All right. Point conceded. ]

It's an unusual hobby. But I suppose it's not wholly absurd, unlike what other people here likely get up to in their spare time.

You could have taken to wrestling giant worms, I suppose.
