[Balem stands with his hands clasped together, head lowered. A cluster of bees swarms around him, and their buzzing can be faintly heard.]

Greetings. I am certain that most have you have heard by now that unfortunately Baron Archer is no longer with us.

[He straightens up, head held high.]

He has left the spire at Archer Point in my care, and I will be serving as Baron from now on. My first priority is making sure that all business is in order. If you had any prior agreements with Baron Archer, I will be happy to discuss them. I welcome any visitors, as well.

If we haven't met, I am Balem Abrasax. Oh, and if you do visit, don't mind the bees if you happen to come across them. They aren't aggressive.

It is sensible to prepare for the worst case scenario, especially given the situation, but doing so is...often unpleasant.

[He's not about to start writing a will, although he supposes he should eventually.]

A lot of what we're needed to do here is unpleasant. That's why it's also smart to find your own bit of fun where you can.

Do the bees fill that role for you?

Fun? No, but they listen to me so they may be useful in time.

You have them trained?

[Trained bees would've sounded ridiculous to him once upon a time. But then he started seeing through the eyes of his cat, so.]

I'm royalty. Bees have a natural respect for royalty.

That's interesting. It was butterflies in my world, but I think I would prefer something with a nice sting to it.

Alas, their sting isn't very powerful unless your opponent is allergic to bees. But a lot of people are afraid of them, anyways.

Why do you think that is?

[entitles]

They assume bees are more aggressive than they actually are, or they confuse them with wasps who can sting as much as they want and don't seem to need a reason to do so.

[Wasps have no respect for royalty, even.]
