( the video shows a petite girl, standing in a bedroom in caer glaem and facing the locket, back straight; she's a bit off-centre, leaving a notable gap to her right that's either unoccupied or filled with a wolf pup, depending on your magical/supernatural abilities (as in: whether or not they exist; he can only be seen by those with power).

Hello everyone! I'm Yuzuriha Nekoi, fourteen years old, and right now I live in Tokyo, Japan! I've just arrived here, and I'm glad to meet everyone!

( don't falter! but she bites her lip. ) Um, I just had one question! I heard we're supposed to be 'helping in a battle,' but I don't know exactly how we're supposed to start? ( she also doesn't realise these questions can be filtered. or really that there's another group she's meant to be filtering from. yuzuriha frowns slightly, clasping her hands before her. after all, if she abandoned everyone for this place, she has to do her duty, right? ) Um… or… really, what to do in general… ( she trades a look with the wolf pup/empty space beside her, and then remembers that she's supposed to be making a good impression, not worrying. hurriedly: )

But it really is very nice to be here! I'm ready to do my best, so I hope we all get along!

But they didn't bring us here by accident. ( so, they're here for a reason. that seems pretty obvious, and more than that, yuzuriha wants it to be true. if it's not… well, she's not going to worry about that right now. )

I didn't know there was a library. I haven't done much exploring at all yet.

[Tiny trace of an unsure smile.] Nor have I.

[And a soft "Hm" puff of breath.] I expect it would be poor form to carry a sword with me. It was not taken from me as they brought me here, it seems, and the castle appears normal. [Considering it's full of creatures, that's insofar as it's civilized. Well-conducted and well-overseen. Peaceful.] Still, I'd -- rather not be surprised.

Surprised by what? ( she tilts her head slightly to the side, like a dog might. everything seems so nice, so pretty… there's a lot of magic here, enough that even she can sense it without trying, heavy in the air, but none of it seems bad, exactly; not that she's run into so far. )

Attack.

[He sinks a little as he says it - vaguely shamefaced. They both think the same, below that - there's no feeling or clue to imply that someone needs to expect something horrid's lurking. Not in the castle, and not immediately.]

A trap, or -- an ambush. Or creatures - where... there shouldn't be, any.

You, er. [He shakes his head to start speaking in the space before his words do.] Haven't -- seen... any trouble - here either, yet - have you.

No… ( she drags out the word a bit, as though reluctant; giving it some thought. he seems nervous. she doesn't know if that's justified or not, and she doesn't want to tell him that he's wrong, but… )

But I'm sure it's not like that! Why would anyone want to hurt you?

One would be surprised; I've been to -- a church - in a peaceful village filled with demons. It was... where I died. [Not to spring that on her, but on his end it's literally hundreds of years over with; he can say it as if it's an "I slipped and fell, so now I don't run in the rain".]

I'd rather be aware that there could be anything treacherous out there than -- let it befall.

[All over, it is nervous rather than grave.]

( but this place doesn't have that sense at all, she thinks, and would say — but gentle tone or not, there's no way she can let a statement like that slip by. )

Yes! Is that not -- [Slips awkwardly high.] -- common...?

Or - have you not spoken with many of... us - yet on how they... came to be here?

[Neither has he, come to think of it, for all he knows, yes, people having been brought from the dead to be brought here could be a distinct exception.]

I don't know! I'm not dead… ( she curls her hands under her chin. she's not. ) Are you a ghost, or some kind of spirit? It's not a bad thing to be dead! ( unless he's vengeful, or something… but he seems very nice! )

Er -- it - it's difficult to explain -- really. [It depends on when he's considering himself as having had died!]

My body died before my -- [Stop. Try again. Souls don't die, you fool.] I mean, my body died and - "I" -- couldn't leave. [There's a modern word that'll describe it more colorfully than "abomination" would, but he doesn't have it.] I... suppose I am a spirit.

-- Or I was! [Casts a couple glancesoff the locket feed to glimpse at what of himself he can see, his hands, his arms, all of his ertainly seems corporeal, so, yes, was seems like it'll do.]

But you're not anymore…? Oh! Did they bring you back to life? ( w o a h is that even possible? like seriously, is that even a thing that can happen? it's against all the rules she's ever heard of, but she's not an expert, and if that's true… woah! )

It -- seems! [Still gentle - and a tad ambivalent; he's unsure what to think about the powers that be here working apparent miracles, himself, and bigger ones than any he's heard on record - he's in the shape he's been over 1,200 years ago - how else is he supposed to think this worked?]

Either -- it's easy for them, or -- they badly wanted us here. [Another thing he's unsure of is which of those assumptions it feels... "better" going with.]

Mm! ( she agrees, a neutral sort of sound, still half wondering about how one could bring someone else back to life. maybe it only works on ghosts and spirits. maybe… )

Um… well, they do want us here, right! Because of that jewel… thing. And of course we have to do our best to help out…

If... they keep bringing more of us in, though - and if there are as many of us as there are, in other worlds... Do they really need all -- of us?

[It isn't that he's averse to helping - again, with better certainty as to what they're helping, in a grand-design sense, but he's already done his part in a war of sorts, apparently, and he'd not managed what he'd still call the ideal results.]

I guess so. They wouldn't do all of this for no reason. They probably don't have another way, right? Maybe it's "fate?" ( hm… that word always gives her the same feeling; a sort of nervous stomach clench. it's not a bad thing, but… )

[He holds his focus on the screen.

And remains uncertainly thoughtful. He drops his eyes off it a moment, knits his brow, flicks it back up to her, and - he has no idea if this question has even got the point he thinks it does or if it's just nosy. He'd like to think those here have had their own escapades and duties. Offers it up anyway.]

Done much? In your life -- so far.

[Fourteen years old, she'd said. It's hard to be too young to have done, seen, or experienced some harrowing or thrilling things, all the same.]

What do you mean? ( she tilts her head slightly to the side. her brows come closer together — not quite in a frown, but as though she's considering it; taking the question seriously. of course she is, but he probably doesn't mean anything by it. it isn't like there are rules, but it's something no one ever talks about anyway. the end of days. )

Ah -- I mean... [That intent that he thinks he might've had - time to get it worded...] It seems interesting. To - to think that fate would...

Bring someone twice into - something great. ["Great", of course, as in "big". "Important". Possibly earth-shattering - possibly to the tune of "great and terrible".]

Do you believe in fate? ( she asks, still fretting but openly curious. )

I believe in God. For all intents and purposes, to him, that makes a yes.] And I doubt that I would be chosen for two purposes, by fate. I'm -- not that grand/

But I cannot speak for -- anyone else.

Er - [Sidles in to take the next step, so to speak - mildly:] - do you believe in -- fate...?

I don't know. ( slowly, sounding out the words. she was born to her task. her friends were, too. but is it all set in stone? is the day she'll die planned out, just like the way she was born? ) But… I think that I do. And if it does… then that's why we're here, isn't it?

If -- it does... yes. [Faint. He supposes so, and yet the statement itself has enough qualification on it that someone has to accept it. If it exists, they're supposed to be here. And his voice binds a little tighter, and a little lower]

I wonder what that means for -- the side that falls - though. If they - or we - were... brought in to fight, then... they were brought in to fail.

[His mind may be wandering at this point, but it's not absent or devoid of thought. It is rather... perhaps not unsettling, but certainly not heartening.]

( she clenches her fists. it's like a shard, through her chest and straight into her stomach, cold and sharp. they can't fail, not the dragons of heaven; if they do, then…

no, this isn't that, but this is the same idea, right? is it? but it sounds like killing people, people dying, just because of destiny, and it's like her whole body wants to force that very idea away. people might die, but… but! )

That doesn't have to be true! Maybe their side is destined to lose, but the people don't have to be hurt. They can stop fighting, or maybe they can change sides, and we don't have to hurt them if we don't need to… there are lots of ways to keep everyone safe!
