Voice; Unseelie locked

[Xion's voice is very quiet and hesitant, often starting and stopping as if figuring out how to best choose her words. The voice of someone who's still trying to stay as small and unnoticeable as possible, but has something she needs to ask.]

Back home, I used to be able to make my weapon disappear, and call it back when I needed it. Here... I can't. I've tried. I've still got it, but... I can't keep carrying it around, can I?

I've seen... other people have things to carry their weapons. Is there any way to... to get or make one, for mine?

[She makes a small noise, almost like she wants to say something else, but then cuts herself - and the message - off.]

( What do you know! It's that girl from the battlements who reminds her of her younger sisters. It is surprising to find out she's a fighter, with her being so young.

Much too young to be thrown into the middle of a war, though she won't repeat that sentiment to anyone. Instead, she suggests kindly: )

I strap my daggers to my wrists and hide them beneath my sleeves or in my boots. I could fashion a hilt for you, if you like.

More like a sword in terms of size, then?

Well then! If the armoury has naught that may serve you, I will fashion a scabbard for you.

I do! I am handy with a needle and thread. Would you like to learn how to sew? We can fashion this scabbard together, if you like.

( She offers because she wouldn't mind spending more time with this girl, but it will also afford her to be specific about the size and shape of the scabbard. )

It is settled, then! You will be taught.

( In this world, sewing is a practical skill to have for many reasons. )

Why do you say such a thing?

( Does she think so little of herself? Elizabeth waits, concerned. )

( Gods, this child is precious. )

It is all right, you know. That is what practice is for! Time and training can work wonders.

You should not say that you would not be good enough for something before you have even attempted it. I happen to think that you will be.

Not to mention, you will feel accomplished and proud once you've crafted your own item, regardless of its quality. As will I.

( Now she effortlessly steps into the role of older sister, feeling as though this girl could use some encouragement and faith placed in her. )

( Feeling the need to punctuate her next words with the gentle, warm expression she wears upon her face, Elizabeth switches her side of the conversation to video.

And smiles at her, nodding once. )

Really. You are willing to learn, to grow. There is much pride to be found in that.

( Her mother had been distant, but her father had always shown a like pride in her achievements, however small. It built confidence, trust and respect in her both in what she was doing, and in him.

Everyone should know such a feeling. )

( Initially, Elizabeth is confused. This is the first time that anyone has ever cut things off so abruptly when the conversation had been going well. So, she waits.

And waits some more. Patiently, she stretches out her legs where she sits, certain that her little friend will return to her.

When she does, Elizabeth beams at her. How cute is she? Seriously. )

Of course! You are always welcome.

( Her smile softens now. ) Often, you remind me of my younger sisters. I should thank you.

You make this place feel a little more like home for me, once again.
