[ The feed opens with Hermione in the library - where else would she be? - in the Seelie court, a pile of books and papers around her. It's obvious she's been reading and taking notes, going deeper and deeper into as many of the shelves as she can (and the only place she hasn't been allowed access is the Restricted Area, which she is going to get permission for soon). After a moment of brushing her hair out of her face and forcing a slightly brighter smile she leans forward, into the 'camera'. ]

Hello, everyone. My name is Hermione Granger, for anyone I haven't met yet, and I was just wondering if you'd mind answering a few questions I have?

[ She pauses for a moment, grabbing a piece of paper with a list on it and smoothing it out. ]

I was wondering if you'd all be able to tell me about magic, or powers, or anything that might not be considered 'normal' to the average human or otherwise that exist in your worlds? Maybe magical creatures, too, or beings that you think do not transcend to other places that you've heard of. In my world, if it's alright to call them that, we have magic, magical creatures and humans, giants, werewolves, vampires... But a lot of worlds - or universes, I suppose - don't.

[ She smiles, almost sheepish, shy. ]

I hope this isn't too intrusive, I'm just curious and I'd love to learn more, if I'm able.

[ his smile remains, even if it turns a tad self-deprecating. he waves a hand dismissively. ]

I try, anyway. My boss isn't a big Spider-fan. [ talk about the poster boy for bad press. like her, he pushes past the compliments. ]

[ he jots down what she said in a book of his own, sketching a diagram. ] Exactly, although I don't know if I'd call magic and fairytale creatures minor. It must be wild to know there's so much more out there. I can't even imagine — well, maybe I can now.

[ what with the fairy war and all. ]

[ Spider-Fan. That was clever, and ridiculous, and reminded her a little of Ron and home. It was nice, in a way, even if it did leave an awkward pang in her chest. ]

As long as you do what you can that's all that matters, right? We can only give as much as there is to give - any more and we'd end up running ourselves into the ground.

[ She nods her head, watching as he draws - taking notes, just like her? She could get used to these similarities. ]

It's not as bad for me - my world has all these creatures and human transformations. [ She refuses to use the term "half-human", as if they weren't still completely human in their hearts. ] Werewolves, vampires, giants, hippogriffs, elves, pixies - if you can think of it something like it probably exists in my wizarding Britain.

[ if there was any way to make a shrug audible, roxy would be doing that right now. it comes across in her inflection at least, a soft "meh" under her breath. ]

I dunno, it comforts some peeps. Makes 'em feel less like their lives are outta control. Like with horoscopes and shit.

I don't know. I... mean to visit the castle library, if I can find it. Anything more I can find to tell me the nature of it, and of the war will -- [Is there a way without a suspicious bent to put this?] -- settle my mind.

[It was actually kind of disappointing. Sigrid always wanted to see elf-magic, as anyone would, but there wasn't much to see in this case.]

I suppose that makes sense. It just feels like believing a lie to me.

[ She shifts, a little uncomfortable with the idea of it. She went through hell in third year. ]

That's where I am now, actually. There are quite a few books on the lore and some information on this place - it should be easy to find.

It is! It's proof that there are different kinds of magic everywhere. It's wonderful.

Oh, I'm not disbelieving you! I just mean - horoscopes, that part. The ones that I've seen in muggle magazines? They're all rubbish, stupid generalisations that could mean anything for anyone. That's not magic, really.

[ SCREAMS SHE SAID MUGGLES. OHHHH MY GOD. ]

I dunno how much I believe it either. [ mainly because uh, well, she never had horoscopes to read herself because every human in the world was dead... so. yeah. no one to conjure up anything based on her sign. ] But obvs some people do, otherwise it wouldn't've been so popular.

[ nice past tense there, roxy. ]

[Somehow it doesn't occur to him until that's said that he could ask.] Er - how do you reach it, from... the great hall, if you could describe the way?

[ Hermione hums, obviously unaware of what reaction she's causing. ]

I suppose it's just... Nice? To have something to cling to. The idea that the fates are guiding you towards, I don't know, love or whatever they write about.

[Dang, this girl is quick. Against his better judgment, he's starting to like her.]

Exactly. The monster attacks, our dyslexia and ADHD, it's all because we're demigods. Most demigods have dyslexia because our brains are basically hardwired to read either Ancient Greek or Latin. The ADHD is our battle instincts and reflexes. It's rare to find a demigod who doesn't have those traits.

[Interesting! Nico wonders if Hecate's magic works like that, too.]

So, things like food or water you couldn't make out of thin air. It had to be there in the first place?

Truth be told, we wouldn't be there either if it hadn't been for a different archaeological dig in Nevada.

[ And now no one can get to Mars because he blew the base up. But it was for a good reason, okay. ]

I'd hoped so. If I don't have to convince her to leave a battlefield when she's got broken ribs ever again, I'll be much happier.

That sounds a little bit like onmyou… what kind of spells?

[Where most Victorian aged people would be heading to the other direction? Not Alice.]

I have no complaints.

So just from being born you're different, but you don't understand it until you find out who you are. And the things that people would diagnose you with - the ADHD and dyslexia - they're not like what humans would have? It's different, in a way, because while your brain is wired differently it's because it's hardwired to be Greek or Roman, right? It expects you to live in a world where you use these tools so it almost hiccups when you don't.

[ It makes sense; it's logical, really. It's as though they've plucked a child that was raised as a wizard and dumped them into muggle society. They'd have all these talents they wouldn't know how to use - rather like herself and Harry as children... Well, all children before they're told their magical, at least those that weren't raised in wizarding families.

But, oh, discussing magic... Here's where it gets a little complicated. ]

Some things are like that. You can summon water using Aguamenti, for example, but you can't just make food. There's a whole law about it - Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. You can make the food bigger, or duplicate it, or even summon it, but you can't create it out of thin air. You also can't, say, transfigure a large car out of a matchstick. It's an exchange, almost.

[ She really would dwell upon the dig, she would, but Ginny... ]

She's always been particularly... Stubborn. I think it's a family trait.

Almost anything, really. Spells for creating light, water, transforming things, summoning them, to help make potions, to defend and protect...

Good! I'm glad things are at least a little comfortable for you here.

That's so useful! You must be really talented! I wish I could do that!

We're all taught the spells, really, I'm not - but, yes. It's very useful.

But I can't do anything like that, and I don't know anyone who can do so many different things with their power. It must take a lot of hard work. It's really impressive! ( accept the compliment )
