[Late in the evening of the 14th day of May, Wan's voice comes over the networks very briefly. It is haggard, quiet, almost dead sounding. It sat at the edge of being numb to everything.]

We all are. We tried, Wan. Sometimes, that's all you can do. But I won't have you blaming just yourself. We all had a part in it, that came to help you with this. If you're going to blame yourself, blame us too.

[Because they all had to struggle. Had to watch helplessly as it unfolded before them. That guilt and failure washing over.]

No. You aren't to blame. You did as I asked and I expected nothing more than that. You didn't have the power and experience to do more. I should have stopped us after the first day so everyone could have more of a break and more time to practice before the void was on us again. I didn't. The responsibility is mine.

We don't--didn't know how long we had before this would have been inevitable. We were all just trying to help. To delay it as much as we could. It's on us too, if any of us were that exhausted and didn't speak up that we needed the rest.

No. It's not. It's really, not. The power you added helped. But it was not what broke the mountain. This is not your fault. You hold no blame in this. Please don't think that you do.

It may have been your initial idea and call for help that set this in motion. But at least we had something of a chance to try stop this with that. Calling for help and making us aware of it. You can't be blamed for this any more than myself or any others that were trying to help. So there's no reason you should apologize or get blamed for this any more than I should, Wan.

I took responsibility for moving them safely and I failed in that. I was the one leading this effort. The failure is mine.

[As it had been his when he hadn't had enough power to stop Jaya and the Aye-Aye spirit from fighting. Jaya's death was his failure. It was not his fault, that fell squarely on Vaatu, but it was his failure.]

I'm not blaming myself, Snow. Not really. I know that if I didn't act, that if no one acted, they would have been swallowed by the void within a week, maybe two at best. But I still failed to do as I promised I would. That responsibility is mine. I can't apologize to them, so I'm apologizing to those that are left.

But you tried. Even that is important. Better to try and fail than sat by and done nothing to try and help stop this. Even if the end result may have been the same thing, there is a difference. As hard as that can be to accept right now. I'm sure those that are left appreciate the attempt at least.

[Except there weren't any Pyrii left. And he had been told that they walked off in somber silence. They didn't appreciate the attempt. They mourned what it had done to their mountain and chose death at it's loss.]

[He knew it was sometimes difficult to understand what he meant. And he had no real easy way of explaining either. He'd always taken responsibility for his actions, regardless if he felt himself to blame or not. His part, the role he had taken in the events, that was what he was responsible for. It wasn't a dismissal of the other factors, thought he did feel those who came to help were not at fault. They had done all he had asked of them. As the one in charge, the one who had asked, the failure for effort fell on his shoulders.

But taking responsibility had never meant he wouldn't make the same choices if given another chance. Save for two very specific events. And trying to move Mount Verla was not one of them. The only thing he would have changed was seeking out more help and taking more time between the attempts to move the volcano. It would have taken longer, but he was certain that it would have worked if he hadn't insisted on rushing it.]

Don't worry about it. And don't put any blame on yourself or anyone else that came. Please don't lose confidence, either.

And if you want to continue learning to move the earth... I'll be at the University by tomorrow. You should... you could come visit.

[He cut himself off before he could ask 'please'. He didn't want to sound like he was begging. Her safety was more important than his need for a friend to be near.]
