[Late in the evening of the 14th day of May, Wan's voice comes over the networks very briefly. It is haggard, quiet, almost dead sounding. It sat at the edge of being numb to everything.]
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.

[Merida's voice gets a bit loud towards the end of that before she realizes she's letting her frustrations show. Scrubbing at her face with a hand, she sighs.]
Sorry. It's been a...frustrating week.

Their uncaring inaction to help anyone that doesn't have a shard because all they care about is power and doing things their way. They say they want to stop the void, to save all the worlds, but the only thing they focus on is shards. They ignore the people that need help! They ignore those without shards. Those people are just as important. This is their world, too! They can work with us to stop the Seelie from destroying everything and instead of looking to them for help, the Monarchs ignore them entirely!
Believe me, I do blame the Monarchs.
[He paused to take a deep breath, to center himself. To let the anger wash out of him because in the current moment, it would not do anything to help him. Calm settled easily and he continued.]
But the responsibility for failing to save the Pyrii is still mine. I didn't try to find more people and I didn't stop after we had traveled far enough to get a few more days of breathing room between us and the Void. I should have stopped us to give those helping more training. To correct the mistakes and make sure we were all as strong as we could be. And I didn't. I was in charge and I rushed it.
