[Late in the evening of the 14th day of May, Wan's voice comes over the networks very briefly. It is haggard, quiet, almost dead sounding. It sat at the edge of being numb to everything.]
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.

It was working.
[His voice broke on the last word but there was no sobbing or the tell-tale intake of breath that he was fighting them. There was simply nothing left for him to give. He felt cold, empty.]
We were moving it. We got it so far and then it just... it fell apart. We couldn't even keep it intact.

You did everything you could. I didn't see anyone else doing a bloody thing to try and save that mountain. I'm pretty sure it was given up as a lost cause, but you fought for it. I'm not saying that'll make you feel better, but it's something. You were trying to pull of a miracle.

I-
[Tried? She already knew that. Was sorry? She knew that, too. Wanted to save them? That was obvious.
There was nothing more to say except:]
I know.
[But it still wasn't enough.]
because boobs fix everything wan
[Okay, so she's trying to get a smile out of him.]
NOT EVERYTHING... though they are very nice boobs
I... no?
[It came out as a question and it didn't bring a smile, but it did get a little more emotion from him than the emptiness his voice had held.]
don't say that until you've tried them wan. they're pretty great.
[She hates seeing a nice guy down in the dumps.]
But later on you're going to ask if the offer still stands.
[Because once he feels better, he'll wish he had said yes.]
At least let me buy you a drink when you're up for it. Works for me.
He's never really tried boobs at all. So he doesn't exactly have much to go on
The last time someone said that to me they bought me beer.
poor snowflake
You don't like beer? What do you drink?

Tea. I drink tea. I don't like the taste of alcohol.
[He'd had more than enough of it over Samhain.]

Alright, if that's what you like.

[She's not sure this is helping at all. The original intention was good, but now instead of her buying him a drink, he's making tea.]

Okay. When?

[While Wan had been edging back to his numbed state a moment before, there was now clear anger and disgust in his answer. A harsh word, firmly said.]
Anywhere but there.

The station, then?

I can get there. When?
