[Video | Seelie Locked] Rule 2
[Joshua appears to be out in the courtyard. As always, he's relaxed and casual. However, he also seems thoughtful.]
A calm before the storm.
[It seems like he doesn't realize he's said this aloud, as he moves on without further comment.]
Well, since it seems to be of greater necessity now than over the past year, I've given some thought as to alternate weapons I could use. I've been able to narrow it down to magic and archery. [His smile is almost sardonic.] I'm afraid I don't have many, or any, of the qualities necessary for pursuit in close combat weapons. On that note, I also wouldn't object to learning how to more effectively utilize my shard, especially since recent events indicate that we may have more of a need to learn.
[Joshua has an avid interest in keeping himself alive, thank you very much. He's also not stupid enough to think that he'll be safe from combat situations.]
Oh, and before I forget! I have one, teensy little thing I'd like to know. I love fiction books as much as the next person, and I have something of a passion for history. I'd like to take some recommendations on what are good books to read. With luck, I can see about reading them in Caer Glaem's impressive library.
[...Yeah, because history books are totally considered "light reading," Joshua.]
Alternatively, I also like to hear about the latest gossip.
[He gives a little wave before signing off.]

...Gods help him. ]

Oh, how scandalous! And also sounds something like a Panic! At the Disco song.
[Or your typical country-pop song.]
Well, I hope their engagement lasts...if those rumors turn out to be false.

[ Is he still going to spout random lyrics at them? You know it. ]
You never know with these guys. The dwarves want everyone to think they're all being productive and awesome and reclusive up here, but let me tell you, they get up to some weird stuff up here. And I've only been around for, like, two weeks.
video;
[As for the library, she's still slowly combing through it herself. So she can't say much in the way of recommendations there but this is at least something of a start to try help.]
video;
If you're interested still, I'd hate to brag but I'm pretty good with a bow an' arrow.
no subject
[He raises his eyebrows.]
I suppose it's only natural that they'd want that reputation among the rest of the world. Should I remain blissfully ignorant or is it worth inquiring about their 'weird stuff?'
video;
You aren't the first one to offer, but I wouldn't mind having two teachers...or at least a partner to practice with. As for Sir Lancelot, I've heard he does offer lessons. [He'd even been interested in Lancelot being his teacher for a moment.] However, with the Cult's activities becoming more dangerous and active, I felt it best to seek a different teacher rather than be a distraction from where he's needed.
[Because sometimes Joshua can be considerate. But only sometimes.]
video;
I'd be delighted. Another's also offered to teach me, but I wouldn't say no to two teachers or at least a practice partner.
['Cause, hey, he's not going to monopolize any one person's time with it.]
video;
[Consider. But then, chances are there are those more familiar with the shards that have been here longer and could be of more help where that is concerned. At least, she figures and hopes so.]
video;
[Though she does pause with that. She did offer to teach others to Lancelot...]
You also mentioned your shard. I activated mine last winter before th' battle an' have been workin' on it since if you wouldn't mind a novice tutor.
video;
Oh, and I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Joshua.
video;
Joshua. It's nice to meet you. I'm Snow.
video;
[In Josh's line of experience, assumptions usually result in death.]
Not at all. I've heard it said that teaching can help the teacher gain a deeper understanding of the subject. Perhaps we can both learn something from it.
video;
[Because. You know. Let's not accidentally kill a Seelie soldier while in the capital of Glaschu.]
Charming. [
No, she's Snow.] The pleasure is all mine.no subject
[ Because Panic! In the Drabwurld would be just too real. ]
No, trust me, you don't want to know.
video;
[Yeah. Lets. Not go that far. Even if both of them have actually killed before. Though there is a slight eyebrow raise and small smile at that.]
Of course. I admit I've not actually really taught with the shards before but I'll do my best if necessary. Archery I am more familiar with at least.
audio.
video;
[She nods, tapping her chin with her finger. She needed somewhere where they wouldn't harm anything if something happened...oh. Merida let her lips quirk a bit at what he said.]
Perhaps we can. I have a friend who's set up training grounds in Caer Glaem. Maybe we could meet there when I'm done with Leathann?
[Though the thought of walking into Caer Glaem still scared her, like it had the first day she'd woken up there. She felt naked in the home of the monarchs, like anything she said or did was watched.]
video;
[It's a shame Leathann is beyond the range of his teleport ability. Ah, well.]
Of course. I'll wait with baited breath. [Joshua plz.] It's been a while since we've spoken. How've you been holding up?
audio.
You can't beat a classic, that's for sure! Perhaps we should see if that book is in the library here. It's been a while since I've read it.
Are there other books you enjoy?
audio.
video;
[Back when she'd been Unseelie, though she'd never told him her court at the time because of Reasons. Merida inclines her head, shrugging her shoulders and holding up her hands.]
About as well as could be in th' land of th' fae. I have a home outside of th' castle an' I've been trainin' in all sorts of magic over th' last year. My hair's grown back. Although I can't say there weren't some...mishaps. [She pauses and raises an eyebrow.] Yourself?
no subject
[Way too real, bro.]
Then we'll say my curiosity is satisfied, though I'll be sure to keep it in mind if I ever pay a visit to their city.
[He probably won't, though. Too far away for him to go just out of curiosity.]
I suppose I should also introduce myself, since the lockets don't list the name I prefer to go by. I'm Joshua.
video;
[Yeah, but those deaths had purpose to them instead of...being accidents....]
Then we shall work on archery first. It will be easier to get an idea of how we are in a teacher-student relationship before plunging into something like shard magic.
audio.
[He is actually impressed, and also delighted.]
video;
[It's so hard to tell if he's joking or serious.]
You do? Then I'll have to make a point to visit every now and then. I'm glad to hear your hair's grown back, though. The longer style suits you.
Very well. I took advantage of the long stretch of peace to explore various parts of the lands in and out of Glaschu. It's rich with new cultures and sights, so why not?
video;
[Something to sort out later, in any case. Letting him know even if he might find someone else. Better he be aware of that now than later.]
no subject
Hey, if you do visit, I'll point you in the right direction. Just don't ask me to get in on it. Noooo thank you.
[ He shakes his head. ]
I'm Leo. Nice meet you.
video;
[Well, looks like he's got a good reason to spend his gold, now.]
Are there any recommendations on who I can ask about that? Or if that's something that I can acquire in Caer Glaem?
no subject
[He is the most amused.]
Hee hee, I'll keep it in mind, Leo. Maybe I'll also ask you for recommendations on what to shop for as a souvenir, too.
no subject
[ And Leo totally wants to be there for the battle of the bands.
He laughs. ] I'll make sure to give you a heads up when they open the city to visitors again. I think they're still working on updating the gift shop's inventory.
