video. (seelie court only) | a vision.

[ben is nervous, but not because he's about to share another vision, but because of what he knows is about to come. he's not entirely sure if it's all relative, but he'd been hoping it wouldn't happen so soon. the winter had been a harsh one. for a lot of people, this may be the first time they've seen, let alone spoken to, ben in a long time.

he finally speaks, his voice even but urgent. he seems to finally be ready to speak of his vision.]

It might be too late to change anythin', but I saw somethin' over the winter. It's hard to describe if you haven't seen it, but it's all important, even if it ain't gonna happen right away.

[he lets out a sigh, rubbing his temples,]

Black line in the horizon, only gettin' bigger. Far as I know, it's the Void-- that ain't news. It's comin'. There was-- there was a head, no body, and arrows hittin' the beach. There was some kinda noise there, too. Damn loud, if you ask me. Then the birds came, bigger than anythin' I've seen before, grabbin' at snakes as big as them.

[he pauses; he doesn't look thrilled at what he's about to say.]

The Shuck was eatin' the White Hart. [he licks his lips, gaze hardening,] Whatever's out there, we got to prepare ourselves.

[the feed ends.]

[His whisper sends chills down her spine, a shiver through her blood at the thought of what was to come. She'd suspected so at the time but hadn't even thought. Merida gives a small nod, glancing off to the side.]

I didn't ask anythin' more of him. He was already busy an' I didn't want to keep him longer than I should've. [She pauses.] He asked I say a prayer for him.

[Those were Merida's thoughts too. The dog of death himself should be impossible to kill, but he'd been spread so thin no doubt by the Jabberwock's trail of destruction and the war in general. Again, she worries her bottom lip, chewing on it thoughtfully. She was no goddess, not even of the Drabwurld like Ariadne was said to be.]

How do we though? I'm not on th' level of th' gods...

Did you hear them say anythin'?

[In the vision, she means, but she doesn't say as such. If he's right and prayers and worship are what make the gods weak or strong...they're in for a rough time.]

A thousand?

[Merida drags a hand down her face, pinching her nose. There were more gods than she could say she knew of in her homeland. More gods and spirits than she could count on her fingers. The image of anything as big as the Shuck or the Hart, or bigger, forces its way into her mind. She then gives a slightly bitter laugh.]

It makes this war seem petty in comparison.

[Yeah she said it.]

Aye, I'll give you that.

[There's no comparing a squabble between courts to a war among gods. Merida shakes her head, remembering her talk with Waver months ago about how the Queens would only stop being at each other's throat if there was third party involvement. She doubted they'd stop even for gods.

There's a thought, and she privates the conversation from here on in.]

I have...I have arrows that don't miss. They were given to me for Yule an' I was savin' them. I'd rather not use them at all but if this...if what you're talkin' about is really comin' to pass...

[Somehow she doubts even the arrows that Gilgamesh gave her can do anything against gods. It's not a child's game, no, and Merida never believed it was. She thinks it's silly how she tried to keep out of it for so long, this war. It was going to happen whether she liked it or not. She nodded, nibbling on her bottom lip.]

I wonder...I wonder if we could find th' Hart or th' Shuck. Try to anyway. I know they don't show themselves unless it's Samhain or th' Hunt but...

Aye, as would I.

[They were the ones she had the most interaction with, though the Hart less so than the Shuck. Merida pauses for a moment, wondering if a Berkano rune would work, before she shakes her head.]

If I find a way, I'll let you know.
