[ Being a mother... isn't as easy as it sounds, Rin's painfully discovering. While the boy she adopted is a sweet little thing, he is also a boy and Rin is lacking in experience when it comes to boys that age. In Japan they were proper and didn't mingle much with girls so there's minimal experience from her childhood to go by. Growing up, there was a baby sister for a few years, but she doesn't like to think about those times either so it's no good. She's been a mother for a week and she's already crawling to her locket after asking around. Turns out most of her close companions either suck at parenting (thanks Saber for everything Mordred) or just planned to never have children at all (because that's helpful, Waver), leaving her in the dark. If only there were self help books available, but of course there's not.

Plus this gives her a reason to actually pester people. See what's been going on now that Caer Scima is rubble and everyone is scattered throughout the world. Let people know she's alive. Give them a chance to speak with her before she shut her locket for good. So here's one Rin, dressed tomboyish for her poking around for all to see. ]

Boys are really a handful, aren't they? No--before you ask--I'm not having relationship problems. I mean little boys. I'm not sulking, but it's really kind of hard to think of activities for someone his age-! [ She's brooding pretty fiercely by now. ] When I was seven years old, all I ever wanted to do was study, so why won't he?

[ Just in case anyone in Allaidh Darach needed further proof that Rin Tohsaka was a nerd. ]

I don't even know what to feed him since Emiya left. [ Yes, that's a public jab at his departure today. She's still a bit sour over it. ] He's a stupid boy, so he knows what boys need! What if I don't have enough of the right vegetables and his growth is stunted as a result. That can happen, can't it?!

[ There's a sound in the background that causes her to nearly drop her locket, the magus fumbling with it for a few seconds before it lands solidly in her palm. ]

Crap, crap, crap! What if he heard-?! Oh no, he's going to think he's an inconvenience and—[ Snapping the locket shut. It'll be a couple minutes to confirm it's clear before she replies to anyone. ]

[ She hasn't figured that part out yet. ] We lost our cook today so I'm filling in...

[ Rin isn't a bad cook herself, but she's frugal with ingredients whereas her apprentice from before would favor results over cost. ]

I thought that's what we were talking about. [ Probably isn't nice to refer to her as a child, but she is. ]

I never really gave it too much thought, but there's a fair number of young Shardbearers here, aren't there?

I was just giving suggestions. [Eh, she doesn't mind being called a kid, really.]

A few. Most of them come in seelie though.

[ So many children want to see the world die and reborn, huh? ]

So why are you Unseelie? Consider me curious.

Uh. Chaos powers? Kiiiind of a dealbreaker on the whole 'order' side of things.

Chaos brings destruction, doesn't it? [ If only she could figure out what makes a person Seelie and what makes a person Unseelie.

Inquiring about these things helps her understand a bit more at times, but ultimately just raised more questions. ]

Yeah but...I don't know. Have you talked to some of the seelie? They're so stodgey they might as well already be old men.

The Unseelie do know how to throw a party. [ Soooo much sex.

Not that she feels comfortable talking about that with someone at her age. ]

They are the ones who brought down Caer Scima. Chaos is something they can do easily.

[Lumina seems thoughtful for a moment before she shakes her head.]

Chaos and Destruction aren't the same thing.

They aren't? [ An interesting conversation to pursue, but she will. ]

You're going to set me straight then?

Nope. They're not.

Mmmm. I don't know. Don't you want to figure this stuff out on your own? You're the adult here.

Adults can learn from children sometime.

I'm not particularly interested in knowing the differences so much as understanding how you view them. Studying others to see why they're a part of one court instead of the other helps me to understand the choices made... so naturally how you view chaos and destruction ties into that.

Probably.

[Lumina hesitates before she answers.]

Chaos is the random yellow flowers in a green field. Or the pattern of raindrops on a rooftop. Or the different sounds the wind makes when it cuts through an open window.

Destruction is just...breaking something. There's nothing random about that, nothing beautiful or unexpected. You just knock it over.

So that's how you define it?

Many would assume chaos and destruction go hand in hand because destruction can be the result of chaotic influence. Thinking of it something good or bad that's unexpected is a gentler way of putting it.

[ Still doesn't help when it comes to explaining Unseelie. What a strange code with even stranger monarchs. ]

'Many people agree' would mean way more of most people weren't pretty dumb.

[Lumina doesn't have the highest opinion of people.]

A common opinion isn't necessarily the most intelligent. People believe in deities they've never seen with their own eyes based on coincidences and devote their lives to worship, for example.

[ Ah religion. Always the easiest thing to point out in discussions like this. ]

Yeah, that's my point.

So, you think the seelie are unified by destruction?

Not necessarily unified by it, but capable I'd say so.

There must be a reason they were chosen for that Court, correct?

Mmmmmmmm...maybe? Or it could just be completely random.

Random! [ She's almost a bit offended by this. ]

Is it really random?! There are so many of us who get along well in the Unseelie Court that I can't imagine the process is something like that.

Well, yeaaaaaah, we get along. But there are people on the other side that'd probably do well here too so...

Yeah, like who? [ Huffing up a bit. ]

Maybe we can convince the High-King to bring them to our side.
