Lord Maglor... {His voice will echo over the Shards and they will burn with a bright, pure light.} ...has left us a means of communication outside of the Lockets. We should not let it gather dust.

What plans have you for the upcoming months?

[ In all honesty, her own Palantíri sat resting on her inn table along with the rest of her various trinkets with the thought that no one would ever use it to communicate with her. Only when it lights up does she acknowledge it and then she listens, wondering who all has received a gift like this. ]

He has. [ Her voice is young with hint of a foreign accent, though the common language she uses to speak with comes naturally as it does with many of the others. ]

Just who was Lord Maglor to you?

{He doesn't have a great track record with Palantíris, but at least he knows each one is owned by people Maglor liked and/or trusted. Even so, when he isn't using it, he covers it with a cloth.}

A distant ancestor. I am descended from a child he cared for long ago. {And further connected through Elrond and Arwen.} Before he left, he was content being called Grandfather.

[ ... A grand child? Interesting. Maglor had mentioned his closeness with some of the ones who left, but he didn't speak with her about those who remained save for one. Definitely of no grandchild. ]

Your kind... doesn't take loss easily, do they? [ She isn't aware of who he is or what he is, she just bases her judgement on what she's come to known through Maglor himself. ]

I am not an Elf, my lady, though I am descended from one who was Half-Elven. He chose a mortal life and thus gave way to my family line. {However...} I do reap some benefit from that connection. I will live longer than regular Men...

{If people stop stealing his Shard.}

And my senses are heightened. {But grief is no less hard.} Where ere they have traveled, I wish them well and I am honored to have met someone so important to my ancestor.

Important..? No, you misunderstand.

[ Clearly she doesn't think he thought that way of her, but there must have been a reason he left her with one of those. Perhaps to make more of them? She's not sure. ]

I helped him create these. [ Helped, she says, in case there's any stranger listening in. ]

[Also meaning: why would I tell you anything? He hadn't paid much mind to the shard Maglor had given him, leaving it tucked away in his bag with the letter that accompanied it. Seeing it light up, though, well, he can't ignore that.]

A state I wish to correct. I am Aragorn and I possess the Master Palantíri that Lord Maglor left behind.

{He doesn't need to tell him anything. This is a meet and greet if nothing else.}

He is a distant relative. I am descended of one who was Half-Elven and Lord Maglor fostered him after the death of his parents.

However we became far better acquainted in the Drabwurld.

[Of course it would be family of some sort. Everyone Maglor knew from home seemed to be related him. But -]

[Waver's not been entiely sure how the Palantíri work. Truth is, he's put his on the desk of his study, and primarily been relying on it a a paperweight.

So the message is a surprise.

He jumps, and then goes to respond.]

Ah! I had been wondering what the trick to these were!

{A chuckle follows the slight panic before Aragorn speaks quietly.}

Forgive me, my lord. I did not mean to startle you. {The Palantíri have a way of transmitting the aura - if you can call it such - of the caller. Aragorn's light is bright and strong, though it flows like a river of snow.} These gifts Lord Maglor left behind should not go to waste.

They shouldn't, but I suppose that I should now ask you for instruction on how to work them properly.

[Waver taps the Planatir gently with a finger, trying to make sense of its magic.]

Otherwise I'm going to be surprised rather constantly.

They resonate with the Shard placed within them. We know the magic of the Shards and how to tap into them. {Even if it's subconscious.} Focus on the Shard and it will flare to life.

[ Kaldur has something of a wry smile on his face when he answers the call. ]

I seem to be collecting methods of communication.

As I seem to be losing them. {His tone is wry, but he is glad of the Palantíri.} Lord Maglor left you a gift. I am Aragorn, a descendant of his and I wished to see the owners of the other Palantíri.

I counted Maglor among my friends, and I am sorry for your loss of him. [ But Maglor is not the first friend he has lost to this world, and Kaldur doubts he will be the last. ] I am Kaldur'ahm, or Kaldur, shortened.

Who do you know possesses them so far? Beyond yourself.

It is for the best that he left. He has been Fading for some time since his family left him behind. {Grief of that sort cannot be healed.} Well met, Lord Kaldur.

Lady Rin Tohsaka, Lord Javik, Lord Waver and yourself possess one thus far. I know there are others.

I am glad, then, that he may find his peace.

[ So, not a fully secure method of communication. Important to know. ] If you manage to gain a complete list, I would be very glad to have it. Once cannot say when being able to contact others without monarchs being able to monitor your conversations might come in handy.

I believe he was sent home, my lady. He was unhappy for a long while. {As much as it pains him to think of the Fae or the Imps doing something good or helpful, they seem to have done the right thing for him.}

I know.

[ Alice's voice starts to crack as she fights off tears. She really doesn't want to cry, she really doesn't. Fittingly, Maglor reminded her of her own father. Just as gentle and knowledgable. ]

His brothers and his father-- oh, poor Lady Nerdanel. But he was alive, right? He didn't-

Please do not weep... {Tears are healthy, of course, but it makes him want to cry along with her.} No, he was very much alive the last time we spoke. He did not take his own life.

{As far as he can tell. He won't voice that.}

Elves are immortal, though they are doomed to Fade. The wounds he received in the Drabwurld will disappear.

[ It's hard not for her to cry. She went to the battlefield to implore Celegorm to reconsider out of her anger towards his complacency to isolation and grief. All of that... it had a greater effect than it should have. ]
