{There is magic embedded in all Palantíri and Aragorn, in other circumstances, would not be comfortable with it. However Maglor has left him a gift and he intends to use it. It is clear the Elf put much thought into this system of communication.}

Lord Maglor... {His voice will echo over the Shards and they will burn with a bright, pure light.} ...has left us a means of communication outside of the Lockets. We should not let it gather dust.

What plans have you for the upcoming months?

[ In all honesty, her own Palantíri sat resting on her inn table along with the rest of her various trinkets with the thought that no one would ever use it to communicate with her. Only when it lights up does she acknowledge it and then she listens, wondering who all has received a gift like this. ]

He has. [ Her voice is young with hint of a foreign accent, though the common language she uses to speak with comes naturally as it does with many of the others. ]

Just who was Lord Maglor to you?

{He doesn't have a great track record with Palantíris, but at least he knows each one is owned by people Maglor liked and/or trusted. Even so, when he isn't using it, he covers it with a cloth.}

A distant ancestor. I am descended from a child he cared for long ago. {And further connected through Elrond and Arwen.} Before he left, he was content being called Grandfather.

[gandere]

[ ... A grand child? Interesting. Maglor had mentioned his closeness with some of the ones who left, but he didn't speak with her about those who remained save for one. Definitely of no grandchild. ]

Your kind... doesn't take loss easily, do they? [ She isn't aware of who he is or what he is, she just bases her judgement on what she's come to known through Maglor himself. ]

I am not an Elf, my lady, though I am descended from one who was Half-Elven. He chose a mortal life and thus gave way to my family line. {However...} I do reap some benefit from that connection. I will live longer than regular Men...

{If people stop stealing his Shard.}

And my senses are heightened. {But grief is no less hard.} Where ere they have traveled, I wish them well and I am honored to have met someone so important to my ancestor.

Important..? No, you misunderstand.

[ Clearly she doesn't think he thought that way of her, but there must have been a reason he left her with one of those. Perhaps to make more of them? She's not sure. ]

I helped him create these. [ Helped, she says, in case there's any stranger listening in. ]

I'm nothing more than an artificer.

How so? {Her discomfort is a little amusing, but he doesn't laugh.} Then you came into contact with the Shards of those who are dear to me.

{He pauses, humming.} Have you worked with other Shards?

[gandere]

Yes. As a gem magus, my specialty is jewels and minerals. I've familiarized myself with most of the ores and other materials present in Allaidh Darach in order to expand on my craft. The request from Lord Maglor had been unique.

Normally I use the shards of those who have left by re-configuring their design, re-shaping them so that they could be set in jewelry. His request was peculiar and he told me of how the stones from his homeland had worked. The Palantíri he called them.

I simply duplicated the system for him last month before he... ah, before he. [ She had started off so strong too. ]

Sorry, I'm no good at this comforting thing. No good at it at all.

The Dwarves must have been fond of you. {Her collection must have drawn their eye more than once.} The Palantíri are used for foul purposes in our world, however this set of Palantíri are different. It seems he meant for it to be used amongst those he trusted.

{A brief glimpse of his smile can be seen. It's a pained sort of expression but also amused.}

I would worry if you were good at it. It would mean you have had practice.

[gandere]

[ If they are, they haven't sought her out yet. Their interest probably rests with her familiar and companion, Lancelot. He's the blacksmith and she's nothing more than a girl who makes pretty crystals. ]

That was the impression I got from him. He wished for them to be used, to give them purpose, as if to not forget those who left this world. Naturally he would give them... to those he trusts, though I honestly don't know why I fall under that. Perhaps it was―[ The kindness she showed him after he bared his heart over the locket?

Rin never quite finishes the sentence, choosing to answer him. ] People come and go. I've grown used to it.

{They have fine tastes for pretty crystals.}

He left me the Master Palantíri, which contains the Shard of the Elf who raised me. There is great meaning in these creations. {He doesn't have the heart to let them sit around unused.} Your skill and your interactions with him likely earned you one, my lady. Lord Maglor was adept at seeing a person's true self.

{He wishes he could say he hasn't gotten used to it, but part of him has.}

We must live whether they are present or not.

[gandere]

[ She wouldn't say no to an introduction. Might even get along well with them. She's a bit on the short side herself. ]

With age comes that sort of wisdom, I suppose. [ She's too young to know the value of others or how to appreciate them. Keeping everyone at arm's length and then some for so many years in their youth does that to a child.

While technically a child no longer, she still acts like one at times. ] I won't try to make sense of it, but I'll be grateful all the same.

It's just a matter of allowing the other holders to trust me. To know who all holds one would be good, though I suppose it's none of my business. Is that why you've called out?

[Also meaning: why would I tell you anything? He hadn't paid much mind to the shard Maglor had given him, leaving it tucked away in his bag with the letter that accompanied it. Seeing it light up, though, well, he can't ignore that.]

{Unfortunately most - if not all - of them have gone home.}

Elves are born with a certain amount of wisdom. The rest they gain over their endless lives. {Aragorn was much like Rin in his youth, but the War over the One Ring has changed him.} It was kindly meant.

{So it's nothing to worry about.}

Yes. I wished to know who else possessed the Palantíris and what sort of people they were.

A state I wish to correct. I am Aragorn and I possess the Master Palantíri that Lord Maglor left behind.

{He doesn't need to tell him anything. This is a meet and greet if nothing else.}

I am called Javik. The elf mentioned your name, in passing. How did you know him?

He is a distant relative. I am descended of one who was Half-Elven and Lord Maglor fostered him after the death of his parents.

However we became far better acquainted in the Drabwurld.

[Of course it would be family of some sort. Everyone Maglor knew from home seemed to be related him. But -]

Half-Elven?

Indeed. He had a brother who was Half-Elven too. In fact, Lord Elrond has visited the Drabwurld and this is his Shard.

{The Master Shard used to power the Palantíri that Aragorn uses.}

[Waver's not been entiely sure how the Palantíri work. Truth is, he's put his on the desk of his study, and primarily been relying on it a a paperweight.

So the message is a surprise.

He jumps, and then goes to respond.]

Ah! I had been wondering what the trick to these were!

[gandere]

[ It's still something to worry about, but that's just her own paranoia. Speaking with an unknown person where others could possibly hear was enough to make her anxiety bubble forth, but not in a way that's hostile. ]

You haven't heard of me, have you? [ A number of Unseelie have by now, but his answer should give her enough information to work with. He's either a newcomer or from a completely different court.

Or she could just not be as popular as she thinks herself to be. There's that. ]

[ Kaldur has something of a wry smile on his face when he answers the call. ]

I assume the other half is human. [Maglor never really mentioned anything like this, unfortunately. Humanity was a common denominator among a lot of worlds, though.] I was not aware your species could interbreed.

[rangerandking]

A pleasure, Lady Rin. {There is an awkward pause wherein he considers his answer. He doesn't wish to upset her, but he won't lie either.} I have not. I was a member of the Seelie court before my Shard was taken.

{Now he looks out for himself and tries to keep the Elves safe and well-supplied.}

Indeed. {His smile is transmitted over the Palantíri for a moment.} One cannot determine who a heart will choose to love. Elves and Men are the most common examples of two races coupling. However such a romance is not a usual occurrence.

[rangerandking]

{A chuckle follows the slight panic before Aragorn speaks quietly.}

Forgive me, my lord. I did not mean to startle you. {The Palantíri have a way of transmitting the aura - if you can call it such - of the caller. Aragorn's light is bright and strong, though it flows like a river of snow.} These gifts Lord Maglor left behind should not go to waste.
