Not all of us who have been brought here are built for war. But that does not mean we lack battles to fight. We are needed on another front.

I have been tasked [ by Sir Lancelot] to garner goodwill between those of us who have shards and the shardless. Since our arrival, the moods of many have soured... [ Her lips press together in a grim expression.] To say the least. And we hope that we change that with good works or charity as some would call it.

I would have your suggestions or your help with mine, if you would give it.

[ this is a great idea, and sam's vast approval shows in his eyes, but there's no real smile for what he's about to say. it's just an idea, a first impression, so he'll ask to be sure. ]

I'm pretty new, so please, correct me if I'm wrong, but, like. This whole war's about the shards, right? Both courts trying to get the most of the - the gem thing, what was it called - the Uaine Cridhe?

[ pronounced 80% incorrectly because what even are these noises supposed to be? ]

[ she won't comment on the mispronunciation because that would be unkind but she nods, her expression a worried one.] Yes, I'm afraid that is what I have heard to be true. But I have no desire to take part in taking the shards of others or giving up my own.

[ now that makes him smile, however grimly. ]

Me neither. S'all a little too cutthroat for me, and that's saying something when I've already seen a cutthroat war. But it's 'cause I've seen that war that I'd hazard a guess here - there's a real good chance the shardless might blame everyone else for what's happening to them right now.

Yes, the bitterness seems to be focused upon us, no matter the real cause of their strife. I'm afraid that it is quite common, that sort of thing. [ those who are favored are often hated.]

[ he nods quietly, because that's exactly it. ]

That's why I was thinking - apologies can go a long way. I don't know about sending condolence cards to everyone, but stuff like rebuilding where the war's hit folks hard, bringing in any resources they might need. Using our favorite kid status to share the love a little, y'know?

[ she catches most of the meaning behind his words, nodding.] Actions speak much louder than words. And I hope that we can be a people of action.

Exactly, yeah. It's good an' all to be charitable, but owning up to what we broke goes a step further.

[ he'll include himself, even if he's only just gotten here. guilt by association, being a shardbearer brought to continue all the fighting. ]
