[ The face that comes onscreen after a few obvious jostles might be one you're familiar with (if you are, sorry, he's probably not the one you're looking for). Johnny's half-concerned, half-amused with the general state of things and it shows in the way he's looking into the locket, clearing his throat. ]

What's up, strangers of Drabwurld? I have three questions: [ Holds up one finger. ] one, why is it called Drabwurld? Did its founders hate being here, or does Brightworld just not have the same ring to it? Ha, there's your thought of the day.
[ Two fingers. ] Two: Anyone seen a big orange walking rockpile lately? Grumpy, looks like he lost a bet with a mudslide? Failing that, how about a guy who can stretch to grossly disproportionate levels, or a girl who can turn invisible? If found, let me know; they can be pretty ornery, and reach dangerous levels of boring when put together for too long.
Three, and I can't believe this didn't come first. It's a very important question, so I'm gonna need all of you to be honest with me, whoever you are.
[ He leans closer to the screen, loses the smile and gets serious. This is crucial. ]

No such thing as inevitability. [ And it's very clear what side he's on, now. Johnny grins. ] We make our own fates; no one's taking that away.

[ which is her way of saying "we're on the same team" because... yeah. ]

Why would I want to kill anybody?

Um. [ ??? in her most sarcastic "weren't you listening?" tone ever: ] Hello, war?

Doesn't mean I gotta contribute the mortality rate. [ He pauses. ] You ever killed anyone?

[ she might just be sixteen years old, but she's not naive. someone she trusted tried to kill her and her friends, left them strung up and helpless. if she can help it, she'll keep as low a profile as possible, but she won't let herself be seen as weak — or incapable of defending herself. she's good with a bow and arrow, she's quick; if she plays her cards right, maybe she can ferret her way around. ]

"you ever killed anyone?" does standing there watching them die count, knowing you could probably save them if you had the opportunity, but also knowing it's either too late or that they've accepted their fate?
it's a thought that prickles at the back of her mind, but she lets out a sigh and lets her answer speak for her. yukari will make this as black and white as possible: if she hasn't killed with her own two hands, then the answer is — ]

The pause is telling, and he wonders what the girl on the other end of the line is feeling; if she has any regrets. ]

...Takeba. [ her last name, but she's not sure she likes this guy enough to be on a first name basis with him. ] Yours?

[ He echoes, putting a name to the voice. ] Johnny Storm. You can ring if you need me.

Johnny Storm? [ a light scoff ] What are you, some kinda rock star?

[ you can practically hear the grin in his voice. ] -- not my thing. Standing around singing isn't very fun.

So I guess I can cross "karaoke" off your list of hobbies.

You know, I actually haven't done much of that before.

It's a great way to raise your courage. [ and... she grins, a little wickedly. ] Or embarrass your friends.
