In my world, people often set up a stand of some sort and use colored cloth, lanterns, bones, et cetera. They tend towards blues and purples for colors.

Still. Each shrine reflects the person who built it. It is, ultimately, your choice. I have one shrine that is decorated primarily with bones and drawn pictures; another with flowers.

but the bones are a requirement? done, i'll make one

[ somewhere out near the fifth spire, there is a pine tree, kind of hidden halfway behind a shoddily built cabin that serves as quarters while the spire proper is being built and there's fucking snow out all the goddamn time. under it, there's a little space cleared of pine needles:

four cans of mad bull work as the legs for the shrine, holding up a big piece of bark that got shucked off of some dead tree, with nails awkwardly rammed through them to keep it all in place. in the curved scoop of the bark, there's a cute little collection of stuff. some neat looking rocks, a broken arrow head... and a couple packets of wasabi paste. the main attraction, however, is the giant worm tooth the size of a grown man's face upright and leaning against the tree, a string tied around it, with several small paper shide hung from it, like lightning bolts agianst the white bone.

it's pretty great, right?

anyway, here's junpei, trying the thing out! ]

Hey, uh — Outsider, dude. I made you a thing, wasabi and everything. Come check it out.

[ Well. It's certainly the most unique shrine that's been built to him in a long time.

When the Outsider arrives, everything but the shrine and the two of them seems to melt away; they're unimportant. If anyone were to interrupt, they'd miss the entire conversation; all they would see would be Junpei looking momentarily dazed, no matter how long the two speak. It is, the Outsider thinks, a terribly effective way to share secrets.

Excuse him while he examines the worm tooth. ]

[ DUDE... dude... the fog shit... is so weird and cool. he's gonna have to ask about it. ]

Giant worm tooth. There's a bunch of them out here, they keep trying to eat workers so my friend and I are working on killing them, but this one's the only one that our varren hasn't chewed on.

[ tiny pause. ] The shide is just to make it official and shriney.

[ Magic, Junpei. Magic. ]

I see. I wonder if they could perhaps be deterred instead of killed... they would certainly keep intruders away.

[ Giant worms = whales of the desert. Clearly. ]

(does his mental image project himself as taller than he actually is if he's like, I WANNA BE TALL?) ] I mean, it's not really my jam.

[ horrified gasp ] Oh, man, you're missing out, dude! So you know how the lockets have words, and then they have voice, and then they have the moving pictures? Movies are moving pictures that tell a story with super cool special effects and sweet theme music and badass fight scenes and can literally be about anything you want, ever.
