[Another pause as he struggles to speak. This whole month, this entire war, it's too much of a mess.]

Merida's asleep, by the way. Just like I was. I don't know the details of it, but if it's anything like my case, she'll be asleep for an entire week. Except she ...

[He swallows hard, remembering his three hundred year hiatus.]

There's no telling how long it'll be on her side. It could be a day, it could be twenty years, I don't know. So just ... make sure to give her some support when she wakes up, okay? Trust me. She's gonna need it.

A bow, huh? [Hello, Merida number two. But bows are plenty useful, he knows that.] Sounds good. You should watch out for yourself too though. Even if we can defend ourselves, it doesn't mean people aren't still eager to see us dead.

Yup. I leave the sword fighting to my husband, mostly. I know some basics but they aren't exactly my specialty. [And yet even Charming was mostly winging it in his own sword fighting, at least initially when he defeated the dragon for Midas.]

And trust me, I'm quite used to being on the run from people who want me dead. Regina was after me for years and never succeeded.

[Of course, back home she wasn't so entirely alone. She had Charming and Red and the dwarfs to help her out, unlike here. Even if she is making new friends from other worlds.]

Well, it's all better than me. I'm not really a weapons kind of guy. [Because his staff could hardly count as a weapon at all. The magic really did all of the work anyway.]

But at least you got stealth on your side and you're better at keeping under the radar, which'll make it easier for you to keep safe. Better than me. I'm a sucker for attention.

So, what, you freeze the opponent until they agree to behave? Huge ice walls to put them in time out?

[Half joking, at least. She can imagine he's used to the power to control ice and snow, using it in rather versatile ways.]

Ah. Yeah, we wouldn't want someone like Jack Frost to not get attention.

Plenty effective, trust me. With how much plenty complain about the winter, it's more than appropriate tactics. [And those are especially plenty good ideas that he'll keep in mind. They're definitely his method of handling things.]

And I spent a good amount of time without attention, so of course I'm gonna take plenty of advantage.

Hm. I suppose. There are plenty of means to use such powers to try and stall or stop fighting if necessary. Unfortunately I myself just have to stick with my bow or sword. Until I figure something else or more. I haven't looked into this world's magic yet, if I might even be able to learn some.

[ There's a pause there as she considers the implications on that.]

Without attention?

There's probably people that can help you out. I wouldn't know specific names to offer you, but most of them have learned from somebody, so there's bound to be a teacher around somewhere. [That's the most he can offer, never having any reason to seek it out himself.] I'm kind of a special case when it comes to magic so I wouldn't know the first thing about helping someone else get some unless you talk to the moon or something.

[Which isn't exactly how that worked either.]

Spent a long time being invisible. [He shrugs to himself as though it isn't a big deal anymore.] Comes with people thinking you're just a story. They don't realize you're real. Something I'm sure you'd get.

[The Man on the Moon.....she hadn't really considered it much but perhaps there is some truth to the stories. At least, in Jack's case from the sounds of it. It's that next part that gives her pause, empathetic. She can't imagine being entirely invisible and ignored like that. Let alone however long that was for him until children believed again.]

I'm...adjusting to that, yes. Though I haven't experienced the 'being invisible' part as a result the way you did.
