[Standing on the edge of Nimh Gleanne, Lancelot held his locket with a cool hand. Rather than brimming with rage, he kept a demeanor closer to ice. He didn't say very much, but it wasn't as if he were going to have to.]

I will pay great sums. I will reward those who give me good information and those who cement any suspicion for me.

[His voice was as passive as could be.]

I desire the necks of those who have tortured and killed the fae of this world. Cathraon's safe haven has been annihilated.

I do not care which banner the offenders wear. I will kill them and their kin. If the perpetrators bear shards, I will present those bloody trophies to the fae in recompense, whether or not I am torn from this court or not.

I suggest all information come to me with great urgency and haste. I will only remain reasonable a short while. Direct your information to me directly through this locket. I am the Knightslayer--Lancelot of the Lake.

Someone did that-? [ She's still not over their last conversation, but she can sate her temper when it comes to things that are important to him. ]

I won't permit them to exile you. Do what you need to and remember that you have my support in all you do.

[The formality he wore was wearing him down, though. Hiding his anger would be difficult after some time.]

I have none, but... [ It would have been rude to not say she openly supported him? Fretting a bit, she tries to think of who might know. ]

[Wasn't Rin's objective to fix him? Allowing him such a terrible war path would be antithetical to that. All while considering the negative implications of what Rin was offering, Lancelot thought to himself--

'It wasn't as if she would have succeeded' and accepted.]

No, I'm with someone who always happens to have the answers for these things. [ Rin just had her entire world shattered hours before so her judgment is a little... skewed to say the least. ] So don't worry.

I promised to support you, Lancelot, and I'm not backing down from that.

Hm. [Waver. Without a doubt--and, Lancelot knew that if Waver possessed those answers, he would have let him know beforehand.

If he possessed those answers and didn't tell him for whatever reason, well... Alliances could end abruptly, he supposed.]

[ It doesn't take her long to come back with a disappointed look on her face. Seems he didn't know anything at all. ]

I'll continue to ask around, but so far the people who know things aren't speaking them out loud.

Likely for good reason. Whoever committed this crime had access to a great magical resource. There were no traces of death blows and there were no remnants of magic.

[As if they simply 'died', that was how the story ended.

Yet, Lancelot was the madman who wanted to chase and destroy the one responsible for this perfect crime.]

[ He's only a madman to her right now because she's having a poor day and must take her frustration out on things. It's good he's kept his distance, else she might snap at him and say harsh words she would have to come to regret. ]

A weapon like that shouldn't be in the hands of those who will use it to harm others.

It is no different than any other weapon in the hand of anyone else. The only thing that matters is the intent.

[He wouldn't begrudge anyone for being a murderer in their own right--human beings died all the time. When it came to fairies, though, he had no sense of forgiveness. Commanding Lancelot is something she doesn't want to do. What she does want is to be an active part of his life. To assist him where she can and help him see that there were people who valued his work here. That he could continue to act as he does and at the end of the day, there were those who would call him friend. ]

[Her words were steady and her emotions contained. It was necessary to be nothing more to this wayward knight than the king her knew. Though it did relieve her to know he was no longer a child.]

Where in the Plains of the Cathraon was this safe haven?

[At this point, he didn't think much of seeing Saber. This time, thoughts of Guinevere were far from his head, as he couldn't have said he truly remembered the affair to begin with.

Even then, this Saber was not his King. Though it was an eccentric occurrence, he would still not question her presence. Given that level of neutrality, he didn't mind hearing from her at all.]

There were directly north of where the White Citadel is being prepared.

For a fortnight now, the Seelie soldiers have been building battlements and training war mages in that area. I cannot confirm nor deny that the Seelie are responsible, but that is the information I have. The dryads in La Llorona have also been killed. I suggest speaking with Baroness Ariadne further.

[He had forgotten about Ariadne. He had been embroiled in so many petty fights recently that it was a wonder he knew of anyone other than Alice, who had been with him through it all.

Still, he was surprised by the title. She didn't seem the type to levy that sort of title.]

I will. You have my thanks, Saber. Though, I have my doubts Seelie forces would do such a thing--they would leave a more obvious mark and on top of it all, they value the nymphs immensely.

I am not convinced of that fact, as I do not believe the Seelie Court truly values life, but this is your quest, your vengeance. If I acquire further information that may aid you, I will see it to your hands.

[He could not argue that point, but he believed the Seelie had a 'system', as loose as one could consider it. They would first find cause to eliminate the nymphs and make it public, were they so inclined. It was too sudden--too random. It more astutely resembled Unseelie tactics, but to say that to someone offering him aid would not be helpful.

He, at least, knew when to draw his lips shut.]

[Saber believed this tied in with the loss in La Llorona. She simply didn't know who was responsible for it, but held faith that Ariadne and Lancelot would discover the answer.]

I certainly do. Should you discover the culprit, I would appreciate being informed as to their identity.

I will. [He would take his time, though. There would be time to find a torture expert--to find his cells and treasure troves and properly pay them and to find a deep, dark hole to put this person in.]

I've met no knight by that name. I believe I would have remembered an embarrassing story along those lines.

[Upon completion, Lancelot actually managed to crack a smile.]

It's a rather half-hearted attempt at verse, but it's certainly clever.

[Weird how this was the one thing to get him to smile in the midst of things.]

[Lancelot made assumptions. Know what happens when you make assumptions?]

[Whatever it is, he's rolling with it. Just because it makes him look good.]

[ It's probably a bad idea to encourage this, considering he just said he didn't really care if he was exiled from the court or not. Then again, if he were to go, Alice would follow. He isn't particularly the best influence like that and neither is Alice. ]

[ To think she's a little surprised that he's kept his temper. ]

I would not begrudge you that chance. [For all of Alice's love of nature, animals and all things that did no harm to others--he knew that she would house a great deal of respect and empathy towards the fae. Psammead and Roiben liked her for good reason, after all.]

I only worry I will not have the restraint to contain them rather than kill them on the spot.

[His mind went away a moment and he remembered--]

Ah--and, no. I have heard nothing else and there is nothing left.

It is a crime against the safe havens, isn't it? I would say it would be well-deserved. I'm surprised that you haven't yet, truth be told.

[ She's in too good of a mood with him to even think about asking him to show restraint, anyway. But the fact there's nothing to indicate who had killed the dryads draws a terse sigh from Alice. Typical. ]

A crime cannot be hidden forever, eventually something will come of it. But those poor fae...

[There was a shrug in Lancelot's voice. Certainly, that anger was well-contained.]

It would only be a disappointment, since I'm not certain how best to torture someone. It would be a waste if I started and did it unprofessionally.

[He supposed that his anger showed more in the statements he said rather than the tone of his words.]

[ A little too contained in Alice's opinion, but she will will worry about that later. ]

Does it have to be torture? Surely there's other ways to gain information and it would be better if you were to cleanly kill them.

[ And maybe she's a little too casual having this conversation. OH, WELL. ]

Come to think of it, would there be anyone or anything in that area who would have seen anything strange?

It's entirely likely that no one would have seen it. Cathraon's nymphs and dryads weren't easy prey--they were capable enough of scaring hunters and loggers. Suffice to say, no one would have normally been able to approach.

[An attack from the air? Perhaps a poison set in the forest.]

The method aside, I've already decided on what I would like to do. Without a doubt, I cannot let those who have committed these acts to perish in peace.

[ Concern aside, Alice would focus attention on helping him figure out what happened. ]
