[Fíli seldom uses the lockets to make announcements for all shardbearers to hear, still reluctant to rely on them without restraint, but there is something that needs mentioning even amidst the mounting tensions. He comes into view, beard closely cropped, and begins with a nod in greeting.]

Cothromach has housed us for some months, but my companions and I will be taking our leave of the city. Our lockets remain open to any who seek us -- that is, my brother Kíli, our cousin Gimli, and Mister Baggins.

[In the background, Kíli gestures wildly, making muffled sounds until his brother turns to look his way. Then his fingers move in a series of quick, precise motions, and Fíli faces the locket again with a small smile resting on his lips.]

Our cousin has friends and acquaintances all over, if we're not mistaken... Should you have a moment, Kíli and I would be grateful for any help in reminding Gimli that today happens to be his birthday.

[From Fili’s opposite side comes Bilbo’s voice, quietly surprised.] His birthday! My goodness that is a cause for celebration - a party may be too much, but I wonder if he would like a birthday cake?

-- And no Kili I do not need your help with the baking! Eru knows you’d only devour half the batter before I could even finish...

[Not having a voice is proving very irritating, especially on a day when he should be so loud and excited.

Kíli gestures wildly and grins, putting his hands together in front of his chest before giving a little nod bow thing in an attempt to show thanks.]

[ Maglor's eyes laugh and he bows back a little in answer ]

You are welcome, Master Kili. Are you well? [ Because normally you'd be all over this post ]

His voice is merely spent. [In spite of everything, Fíli finds it easier to smile than he has in a while, glad to see their friend. Not to mention that the cause of Kíli's condition is likely his excitement over Gimli's birthday -- genuine excitement, after the weeks of doing his best to vanish from under their noses.]

Thank you, Master Maglor, for your kind wishes. We will pass them along to our cousin.

Ai [ Maglor tsks amusedly ] From joy, or excitement, maybe? And tis an honor to be allowed to celebrate this joy with you. May all of you journey safely!

[With Fili here, Kili decides to make use of his brother as a translator. That's what he's for, right?]

It does not happen often.

[His fingers move quickly in the dwarvish signing language, used primarily by miners. Spending time around Bifur, however, has done much for Kili's fluency.]

[ Maglor knows enough of dwarves to know that Kili is signing, but he looks to Fili for the translation, for they do not teach outsiders ]

Well, that is good! I imagine it must be difficult, Master Kili, if you cannot speak! But perhaps Master Fili thinks differently~

[The gist of what Kíli wants to say, he'll offer where needed, though he chuckles at Maglor's remark.]

Difficult for my poor brother, certainly. The rest of us... Our ears never knew the meaning of peace and quiet until this day came.

[He hopes it doesn't last.]

Mm, yes. The wish of all older brothers eh? That something would just shut them up for a little while~ [ He winks at them both ] Alas, elves do not get sick and so I was never granted this blessing. Indeed, what injuries they had as children seemed to make them even louder!
