video; both courts

Are the women in this world and your own given as much opportunity to defend themselves as the men?

[ she doesn't wait for any answers, giving a humorless snort of laughter at the locket before continuing. it's not a directly related addition to her question, but it's certainly on the same train of thought: ]

Ridiculous that those already holding power are given the privilege of training to the highest levels of their skills, but those most in need of it are left to rely on the protection of others.

... Exactly. Realising that you're allowed to speak up, to defend yourself, is the first step. It's not the easiest, though, especially when the people around you that are like you are content to stay quiet.

[ She isn't thinking of herself, now, but the House Elves; the creatures that, in her eyes, at least, are demonised, treated as slaves, servants, with nothing in return but beatings and ill-given gratitude. Seeing Dobby make the first step to showing that they could have a better life was incredible, even if thinking about him made a place deep in her heart ache.

She sighs, crossing her arms and trying to look less frustrated; the entire situation is wrong, given the fact that people end up hurt or suffering for it, and there's not much she can do. Even at home she wasn't entirely successful, for all her attempts. ]

That's why I hope there are more people that can take the first step, or say the first word. It's difficult but... It's amazing to see once it happens.

Hermione Granger.

[ She smiles softly, nodding her head; she's open, welcoming, as she always tries to be. ]
