[The locket seems to be set up on a counter in a bedroom in the Station. To the side of the screen, there appears to be a small miniature ice sculpture of a pine tree, sparkling from the glow of the fireplace in the far background. Jack makes final adjustments in angling the locket just right to show off his crystal art project as well as his own smirking face.]

Alright, there's a whole ton of you out there that are either old and ancient or from some weird world that never got to know the cool Earth holidays, so lucky you — I'm here to provide you with a little Q&A on what Christmas is.

It doesn’t make any sense. It’s Father Christmas’s birthday but … not his birthday, too? Why is he giving out gifts for some other guy? [ OH, LOOK, one confused Viking is sitting on the bed. Hiccup gestures animatedly. ] Jack, your gods aren’t making any sense, even Loki’s more organised than this.

[The winter spirit rolls his eyes, waving a hand to hush the man behind him, keeping his attention on the locket instead of addressing him.]

The point is: you set up a ton of colorful lights around, you toss up a big tree to get sap all over your fingers, and then you find presents underneath it on the morning of the 25th. [That’s about the gist of it, right?] Look, I’m not big on bribing kids with gifts, but it does get people slacking off from all that serious crap so they can run outside and make a snowman or something. Gotta give it props for that.

So, basically, it’s Snoggletog without Thor. [ Flatly voiced from the peanut gallery. ] Boy, does that sound like a hoot.

No, no. [He finally turns his back to face Hiccup, shaking a pointed finger at him.] Don’t compare it to your aggressive “missing toes” Viking catastrophe of a holiday. [Turning back to the locket:] Just to be clear — mistletoe, that little plant that’s hung up everywhere on ceilings during the month, means you kiss the person you’re caught under it with — it’s not for punching them, as some people believe.

[ Wow, Hiccup’s just going to fold his arms right now. So rude. ]

I could always dredge up the will to punch you, if you’re getting tired of hanging out under mistletoe and suffering the other option.

[ No, he couldn’t. But he can say he might!! ]

Uh huh, sure. [With a momentary deadpan expression, Jack finally just shrugs with a sigh.] Anyway, I know the guy who hands out the presents, been in his secret lair in the North Pole and everything, so if you want to know more about elves — the small critter-like ones who don’t actually wrap the presents — or yetis, caroling and eggnog, whatever, I can fill in all the blanks for you.

[A pause before he adds:] Just do me a favor, be a pal, and run out to play in the snow for a bit, got it?

Excuse you, I am known for my incredibly artistic Snow Furies, Jack. Just because I don’t go prancing around yelling about how great winter is doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have fun.

First of all, I was talking to them, not you. Second, winter is great and I don’t think you understand how—

Are you dressed up to go out somewhere celebrating tonight?

[ her expression brightens a bit, and hey okay, maybe she just really likes compliments. she's not above that. ]

I'm not sure I know of Sif, but, thank you. [ preenpreenpreen. ] And - [what this is what she always wea- oh ] oh, no. As much as I do love a good celebration, this is what I wore most days, at home. [ she doesn't exactly look sheepish about this, but maybe she's still got some worries about throwing her title around. ] I really would love to wear the clothes Korra gave me for training all the time, something more casual, but that wouldn't be entirely appropriate for a queen.

[ He will if she wants, heh. ]

[ Standing back, he gives her a bow on his remaining bare foot and pegleg from the warmth of the bedroom under the Station. ]

Good evening then, Your Majesty. And I hope today is a very pleasant one for you.

[ her jaw drops a bit, hand pressed to her chest, like she's just So. Impressed. with his manners, but then- ]

-- Hm, now try "Your Grace" this time, I'm not sure which I like better.

[ but she's grinning bright before she even manages to finish her joke, so.. so much for that ]

[ Snorting, he obliges her and bows the other way. ]

Sure thing, milady. Whatever Your Grace wants!

[ she throws her hands up in the air, like he's only made things more difficult ]

That didn't help at all. It's quite charming either way.

Oh, well. I'd better just go with 'Elsa' for now, until we figure out the proper channels to go through with this.

I suppose you're right, that would be best.

[ she grins again, but then she shakes her head ]

It's bizarre, I'm not sure what the appropriate reaction to this sort of thing should be. I feel like I should be asking how you've been all these years, but it's not as if all that time has passed here. [ it's tough being polite when magic does things to fuck it all up ] So I suppose I'll just ask - how are you enjoying it here? You've obviously got your hands full, if you've been spending your time with Jack.

I did, yes. You know, vikings and their snow... [ those rascals ] Last time I spoke with Hiccup, I was convincing him that it would be perfectly safe to go sledding, even with his metal foot. [ metal foot? eh, that's what it is. she's not sure what else to call it ] I believe he was still getting used to it, then. [ when he was SO MUCH YOUNGER HELP JACK HOW DO YOU EVEN DEAL WITH THIS ]

But for the moment, he shrugs, deciding not to question it.] Hard to imagine Hic not willing to do something crazy like that, fake foot and all. Looks like we'll have to shove him on one of those later now though.

I should add that it was a sled made of ice, and it was on a trail of snow that I was creating as he rode on it, but. Really. Perfectly safe.

[ she was just having fun with her powers that day okok. but her expression softens a bit, because yes of course she caught that first bit ]

I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation as to why you two don't remember your time here before, Jack. [ don't woooorrry ] You should ask your queen about it, if you're curious. I'm sure if anyone has control over that sort of thing, it's the monarchs.

Though technically speaking, I think I could find a way to fly, with a little help. [ and now she's stuck in thought ] I've never tried it, but I'm sure maybe I- As long as- Hmm.

Well, that's very true. Winter spirits are kind of the top tier when it comes to ice magic. So in a way, I'm a bit like your elder, aren't I?

But he can definitely see Elsa's wheels are turning in her head.] What sort of sneaky ideas are you coming up with now?

I wouldn't say it's sneaky, it's just clever, that's all. Possibly dangerous, if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

[ she's really not sure she wants to share her idea just yet, mostly because it means admitting a sort of intense aspect of her power, but. well. this is Jack ]

I don't- usually make a habit of practicing this sort of thing, but sometimes I can bring things to life? Snow things. [ important distinction ] The first time I did it, it was a snowman, but then the next time- I was trying to protect myself, in a way, and he sort of became a body guard for my castle? I don't know how else to explain it. But Olaf and Marshmallow were very much alive, and so maybe I could just... magic up something that I could fly around on.
