[The locket seems to be set up on a counter in a bedroom in the Station. To the side of the screen, there appears to be a small miniature ice sculpture of a pine tree, sparkling from the glow of the fireplace in the far background. Jack makes final adjustments in angling the locket just right to show off his crystal art project as well as his own smirking face.]

Alright, there's a whole ton of you out there that are either old and ancient or from some weird world that never got to know the cool Earth holidays, so lucky you — I'm here to provide you with a little Q&A on what Christmas is.

It doesn’t make any sense. It’s Father Christmas’s birthday but … not his birthday, too? Why is he giving out gifts for some other guy? [ OH, LOOK, one confused Viking is sitting on the bed. Hiccup gestures animatedly. ] Jack, your gods aren’t making any sense, even Loki’s more organised than this.

[The winter spirit rolls his eyes, waving a hand to hush the man behind him, keeping his attention on the locket instead of addressing him.]

The point is: you set up a ton of colorful lights around, you toss up a big tree to get sap all over your fingers, and then you find presents underneath it on the morning of the 25th. [That’s about the gist of it, right?] Look, I’m not big on bribing kids with gifts, but it does get people slacking off from all that serious crap so they can run outside and make a snowman or something. Gotta give it props for that.

So, basically, it’s Snoggletog without Thor. [ Flatly voiced from the peanut gallery. ] Boy, does that sound like a hoot.

No, no. [He finally turns his back to face Hiccup, shaking a pointed finger at him.] Don’t compare it to your aggressive “missing toes” Viking catastrophe of a holiday. [Turning back to the locket:] Just to be clear — mistletoe, that little plant that’s hung up everywhere on ceilings during the month, means you kiss the person you’re caught under it with — it’s not for punching them, as some people believe.

[ Wow, Hiccup’s just going to fold his arms right now. So rude. ]

I could always dredge up the will to punch you, if you’re getting tired of hanging out under mistletoe and suffering the other option.

[ No, he couldn’t. But he can say he might!! ]

Uh huh, sure. [With a momentary deadpan expression, Jack finally just shrugs with a sigh.] Anyway, I know the guy who hands out the presents, been in his secret lair in the North Pole and everything, so if you want to know more about elves — the small critter-like ones who don’t actually wrap the presents — or yetis, caroling and eggnog, whatever, I can fill in all the blanks for you.

[A pause before he adds:] Just do me a favor, be a pal, and run out to play in the snow for a bit, got it?

Excuse you, I am known for my incredibly artistic Snow Furies, Jack. Just because I don’t go prancing around yelling about how great winter is doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have fun.

First of all, I was talking to them, not you. Second, winter is great and I don’t think you understand how—

At one point in time you did, but you were much younger then. [ which is weird to say, and that's probably written all over her face before she continues ] My name is Elsa, of Arendelle. And the first time we met you were ..maybe fourteen years-old. [ he was so little!! fourteen is being generous. but then, maybe not. so. fourteen seems like a safe guess. ] I hope that explains my surprise well enough.

Oh! Yeah, it does. Someone else said that to me, too. Sorry, I can't remember any of that. [ Apologetic shrug. ] Hello, Elsa. Your hair looks really nice, by the way, sort of Sif-ish if, uh, Sif ... wasn't brunette now.

[ Even Astrid's wasn't that blond, whoaaa. Viking Hair!Fascination, go. ]

Are you dressed up to go out somewhere celebrating tonight?

[ her expression brightens a bit, and hey okay, maybe she just really likes compliments. she's not above that. ]

I'm not sure I know of Sif, but, thank you. [ preenpreenpreen. ] And - [what this is what she always wea- oh ] oh, no. As much as I do love a good celebration, this is what I wore most days, at home. [ she doesn't exactly look sheepish about this, but maybe she's still got some worries about throwing her title around. ] I really would love to wear the clothes Korra gave me for training all the time, something more casual, but that wouldn't be entirely appropriate for a queen.

Should I be calling you Your Grace or Your Majesty? I can do that.

[ He will if she wants, heh. ]

[ no really he doesn't, but it's more fun to joke about it a bit than try and handle this seriously ]

But I can't say I'm opposed to the idea very much.

[ Standing back, he gives her a bow on his remaining bare foot and pegleg from the warmth of the bedroom under the Station. ]

Good evening then, Your Majesty. And I hope today is a very pleasant one for you.

[glacio]

[ her jaw drops a bit, hand pressed to her chest, like she's just So. Impressed. with his manners, but then- ]

-- Hm, now try "Your Grace" this time, I'm not sure which I like better.

[ but she's grinning bright before she even manages to finish her joke, so.. so much for that ]

[ Snorting, he obliges her and bows the other way. ]

Sure thing, milady. Whatever Your Grace wants!

[ she throws her hands up in the air, like he's only made things more difficult ]

That didn't help at all. It's quite charming either way.

Oh, well. I'd better just go with 'Elsa' for now, until we figure out the proper channels to go through with this.

[glacio]

I suppose you're right, that would be best.

[ she grins again, but then she shakes her head ]

It's bizarre, I'm not sure what the appropriate reaction to this sort of thing should be. I feel like I should be asking how you've been all these years, but it's not as if all that time has passed here. [ it's tough being polite when magic does things to fuck it all up ] So I suppose I'll just ask - how are you enjoying it here? You've obviously got your hands full, if you've been spending your time with Jack.

I don't spend all my time with Jack, we just bunk together whenever we're both at the Station because it's more companionable that way and my dragon is mildly in love with him.

[ Traitor, Toothless. How could you. ]

I go flying a lot, I suppose. I touched down briefly at Caer Glaem during the last feast but we got going pretty quickly, we didn't want to ruin their night if they found a rogue Unseelie in their midst. Toothless tends to scare people here on default without meaning to, mostly.

Oh, I see. Naturally, I mean, why wouldn't he be?

[ aw, buddy ]

But I am happy to hear your dragon is here with you now. You did tell me a little bit about Toothless before, but I never got to actually meet him.
