❖ 001 ; VOICE ⇨ VIDEO ( SEELIE + UNSEELIE )
[ the voice that can be heard is full of nervousness and skepticism ]
Alright, then. I know this is working, it worked for everyone else, no reason it wouldn't for me - aside for the matter that I do not know what I seem to be doing at all -
[ but then, video! at first you might see only freckles and then she'll step back and you'll see a young woman with dark curls, a purple, flowery dress and one bottom lip that seems to be busied between her teeth. ]
-- Greetings to both courts, I have heard there are two. I hope there are not more and if there are -
[ she might be offending someone. oh no. she'll take a quick yet graceful curtsy ]
to those who can hear - see! me. My name is Gunievere - Gwen, really. of Camelot! I - the fairies -
[ the fairies. this is so unsettling ]
I was told I was brought here to help. I will do all that I can but I - I am but a maidservant. I do not know what I can do, truly but whatever you might need of me, I am in your service.
-- They will send us home when our duties are through, will they not? I have other.
[ erm ]
duties! at home. I am already in the service of a Lady and she might be unsettled with me being gone.
[ and morgana being unsettled is bad news to all ]
--- It's nice to meet you all, I'm certain. Whatever I can do, truly.

ACTION;
She is not alone, Guinevere, and she was unhurt last time we spoke. She tended to me, in fact, when I was in danger.
ACTION;
[ much more than whatever stories she has heard from other people, the fearful tales of the witch who have taken camelot by force. somehow, she knows they are one and the same but it doesn't make sense to her at all. ]
I'm - very grateful that she's not hurt.
[ though leaving her at the unseelie court still seems like a terrible betrayal. ]
ACTION;
[ He takes a slow breath, reaches out for Guinevere's hands again. ]
Tell me -- how do you remember the Lady Morgana? What is the last you recall of her?
ACTION;
[ she lets him take her hands but not ease her into this. ]
I remember her gone for a year and every day I wondered if she was dead or hurting or cold. I remember having her back and I remember her good and sweet and kind and that is what she is.
[ though the rejection stings. ]
Life has been cruel to Morgana and she was by herself. She - I never knew of her magic and the King - I think of how she must have felt, how lonely. I cannot leave her feeling like this again. I'll never forgive myself if I do.
ACTION;
ACTION;
[ she tightens her hand to his own, smiles if only in order to summon an inner sense of optimism which refuses to depart from her despite of it all. ]
I promise I won't. For her sake and yours and our friends'. I do not want to worry anyone.
[ she would put her own sake last. ]
ACTION;
I have missed you, Guinevere. I know it is -- it is far from ideal, to be here. It is dangerous. Confusing. I would not wish it upon you, if I had the choice to return you I would. Yet I am glad of your company all the same, selfish as it is.
ACTION;
[ she reassures with an easy smile because that's so true in her opinion. Lancelot is noble and selfless. she is only glad he is getting the recognition he deserves here, judging by how highly others speak of him.
she is not surprised. ]
I am very glad to see you too, Lancelot. It's been - entirely too long.
ACTION;
[ He may be... gazing at her. Over-fondly. Still holding her hands.
Suddenly realising this he takes a breath, releases her awkwardly and darts his eyes. Right.
Right.
Come on. Be... constructive. Practical. Less with the hand-holding and gazing. ]
You must be tired, I am sure, from all the fuss. Have you explored the castle, had something to eat? You will have a room assigned to you. I could help you find it, if you wish.
ACTION;
[ she tidies down her dress even though there is no need. ]
I saw my room and the kitchens. I wasn't certain where we're allowed to go.
[ which sounds odd now but she is still quite trapped in the mindset of a servant girl rather than realizing the depth of equality here. ]
ACTION;
[ He offers her a small smile, gestures up the hall with one hand. ]
The courtyard has a decent garden, if such things interest you, else there is a wardrobe where they make clothes, a feasting hall...
[ Pick a place, he will lead on! ]
ACTION;
[ she picks up on that and brightens at once at the concept of something to do. ]
At the wardrobe? Are we allowed to take some? Perhaps I could sew.
[ for herself; for morgana. ]
ACTION;
[ His smile turns a touch rueful for a second (he understands, of course, but he cannot help but imagine what Guinevere's life might be like were she no longer a servant. Were she truly Queen of Camelot, beside Arthur) yet he takes a breath -- gives a half turn to orientate himself before gesturing. ]
The wardrobe is this way, I can take you there.
ACTION;
[ he will walk and she will follow, fall to his side in a a pace that's east and perhaps somewhat familiar. she looks at him for half a moment, bites her lip. ]
Tell me how you've been?
ACTION;
Busy.
[ He links his hands together, twists them absently as he tries to think of something to say that isn't please do not get hurt please don't leave me please be safe. ]
Caer Glaem is a beautiful city, but it has much that needs doing. I am nowhere near as experienced as many others would be, but it has fallen to me, so I do my best. Try to keep as many safe as I can.
ACTION;
[ she says it softly and with absolute sincerity. there are many bad people in the world but some people are so inherently good that they give people who meet them the same sort of hope. she smiles a but. ]
This city is very fortunate to be in the hands of someone so kind.
ACTION;
It is not in my hands entirely. I am marshal of the forces, simply, and use them to do what I can. More complicated adminsitrative duties go to those with a better head for numbers and figures than I.
ACTION;
[ she places her hand on his arm, remains standing for a moment as if to emphasis how important what she has to say is. she so very rarely treats her words with an air of importance. it always changes around a friend. ]
I am very happy that they see your value - I only regret the king could not have done the same.
ACTION;
Uther did what he felt was right. I lied and caused conflict between him and his son. I do not blame him for struggling to trust me after that.
ACTION;
They trust you here, then. I'm very happy for it.
[ you deserve it, is gently implied. ]
ACTION;
[ He slows as they reach the wardrobe finally, gestures toward it with a tentative smile. Workers look up from their sewing curiously. ]
Here. Perhaps -- you can take the time to make something for yourself, too, as well as others. You may end up here some time, I should think a change of clothes advisable.
[ Also, Guinevere deserves a pretty dress. ]
ACTION;
[ she peeks inside, bites her lip. sees silks and fine cotton. How odd, to think of making anything for herself from these fabrics. she used to only love to run her fingers over them when she washed morgana's dresses. ]
Are you certain it's alright?
ACTION;
[ He tilts his head toward it encouragingly. ]
Please. Enjoy yourself. I have no doubt you will find something to your taste.
