Alright, then. I know this is working, it worked for everyone else, no reason it wouldn't for me - aside for the matter that I do not know what I seem to be doing at all -

I have my moments where my lack of certain kinds of interaction get the best of me, but those tend to be related to more personal matters.

[How to tell this story without revealing who she really was?]

I was raised to be a knight by my foster father. I served as a squire to my foster brother for many years before proving myself. [By drawing the fated sword from the stone.]

I wanted to be more than a knight. I had to, so I did.

I didn't mean to pry.

[ a gentle apology, gwen dips her head down as a sign of respect. a moment later she smile returns to her lips, the dimples and the freckles becoming more evident. ]

You were meant to ask me about myself, not the other way around.

No... no apologies, my dear. It is not fair that I know of you and you not know of me.

[But she will take that chance to redirect the conversation back to Guinevere.]

You said your father was a blacksmith. Did he specialize in any particular kind of smithing?

[ that is fair, she assumes. keeps the idea of asking another question for later and answers what has been asked in the mean time. ]

armor, swords, shields. he was very talented in his craft. he had taught me too. I used to help him at times. I am hardly as talented as he was but - I know the skill.

Ah... an armorer and weaponsmith. Surely his work strengthened Camelot all the more for it.

[Saber raised an eyebrow.] If you ever would like to continue honing the skills your father taught you, I may be able to get you in contact with a young shardbearer smith that bears the Seelie colors.

Yes, I - think I would like that. I cannot work as a handmaiden here. there are so many servants in this castle already and the one I serve is not in my court. I would like to help with whatever I can.

[ she smiles. happy to hear of more ties between seelie and unseelie. perhaps they can end this war without fighting. she dares hope ]

[Except the Seelie smith in question and Saber did not have the best of meetings.]

Then I will contact him and see if he is willing. I make no promises that he will have any interest.

[And Saber doesn't know Gendry relocated to the Corthromach which is a place she does not particularly want Guinevere near given how targeted it was by Morla.]

[ another quick curtsy before she sits down and bites down on her lip ]

Do you have good treatment in the unseelie court? food and chambers?

[ she knows so little of the place, so little of this world. ]

Caer Scima is a harsh place, but there is a beauty in its darkness. My quarters are quite nice [king's chambers] and the food is mos excellent.

I rarely stay there, though, as I have a duty at another Unseelie-held castle and a place in neutral territory I go to for personal leisure. I never have issue with treatment in any Unseelie territory as I am of the Necroveil.

[ she smiles when she speaks of the food, a small giggle leaving her lips. the way to ones heart and all. ]

I would very much like to find a neutral territory - someplace where people can simply...be, I suppose. without war.

[ she shakes her head. after everything she had learned of her world, that sounds childish. ]

I suppose this is silly.

No, my dear - never silly. Not all are built to withstand the rigors and stress of war. There are several neutral territories where one stands away from the pull of war, though that may change at any given moment.

War is all-encompassing and will find its way eventually to every corner of the land it is fought over and upon. A gentle heart such as your own will find a place, though forgive me for urging you to stay within Caer Glaem where I know you will be safe. [For now.] I do not think I could bear to see harm befall you...

I am not afraid of war and I am not a stranger to battles.

[ she is gentle and kind but there is an inner strength that is unyielding. ]

I don't want to fight anyone for no reason. I have nothing against your court. How can I when you are kind to me and my best friend lives among the unseelie? I can fight, I am not scared. I simply refuse to believe there isn't another way for us.

The differences between the Courts is a philosophical one, yet they are two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other, just as there is no light without darkness to off set it.

Each is strong because of the other. [She offered a weary smile.] I simply do not think the fae realize it.

Then we - complete one another? I do believe light can be found among the unseelie as dark among the seelie. And if we are all the same, then we can be in peace and simply....be together. Maybe the fairies can just...listen to us, if we'll talk to them.

That is a noble thought, dear lady, but balance is not peace. Balance is not harmony. Balance comes from counter forces pushing equally against each other.

Conflict is a necessity of balance.

But Saber - my Lady.

[ she curtsies ]

the war is already happening, there is already conflict. Seeing we do not want to fight each other, shouldn't we try to convince them to devote the same efforts for peace?

Just Saber, Guinevere. Please, just Saber.

[There was a slight break in the king's voice right then. She cursed herself for it, for being unable to be the unemotional king she had been. Rin had forced her to have a heart again and it was painful more often than not.]

Peace and prosperity are not forged through pacifism.

They are forged through honor and -- bravery and good people.

[ she smiles ]

You're a knight and you're good and honorable and brave. If everyone here are even half of it, we can achieve that, I know we can.

[She was not a good person. She was not even a person. She ceased being human when she drew Caliburn from the stone. She had thought she was doing good as king, but she had failed.

But she could not say that to Guinevere. What innocence her eyes still held. Saber didn't want to diminish that.]

You are in for a very long fight then. And it will be a fight. The High Queens are sisters, after all...

Sisters must never fight like that. Family is - siblings should be there.

[ she thinks of elyan, of where he might be or if he is even alive and shakes her head, shadows leaving her eyes and replaced with pity. ]

They must have loved each other once. Nobody can simply hate their family like this.

Most likely they did, but once hatred sets in... It is surprising how small a thing is all it takes.

Hatred does not erase love. It - it is poisonous but poison can be taken out and cured and hatred can also shift and make way to love. I'm certain of it. They must have fought and if they only remember how much they loved one another - I'm sure of it.

[ this is why one day she will be called the queen of hearts :') ]

No matter how strong their hate is, if we stand firm in our love and friendship then we will be stronger for it.

Your hope is a ray of sunshine, my dear. But I am of a gloomy sort, these days. Perhaps we should let this matter rest for another day.
