Morgana always cared for those with magic. She had always said no one should die just for being born with the ability. She must have been so frightened - to be living in Camelot and sharing a table with Uther when he had hated people like her. She must have been so lonely.

[ and it was partly gwen's duty. if morgana hadn't told her, if she had feared her - then hadn't she failed her as a friend? ]
