Video | Both Courts
[ When the video starts it is to a burst of laughter and calls for 'More!' - this is a tavern, somewhere in Cothromach, perhaps, considering the number of dwarves visible.
There is a minstrel seated by the fire, silver harp in his lap, and he swigs back a drink that has obviously just been passed to him in reward for his last song to roars of approval. The silver eight-rayed-star on his cloak may be familiar, although his features are curiously a little blurred, as if hard to hold on to in the flickering light. But his voice now - his voice is probably very familiar to some. ]
Well now good sirs, another is it? And what would you have of me? Joy or sorrow, war or peace?
Sing us something to get us laughing, boyo!
[ He bows in thought and then smiles ]
Ah, then, this one perhaps might suit, considering recent events eh?
[ And he launches into a rolling rollicking tune with a very familiar subject ]
Oh the world will talk of a ruddy fox
Across all time and space
And not because / o’ his fearsome claws
Or punch-attracting face
The monarchs try / to win their war
and finally take the day
But that damn fox / with all his plots
keeps trying to get his way
As popular as a mangy rat
He’s sure he’s so much better than that
Reynard, that phony king in Eachdraaaidh
A pox on that / phony king in Eachdraaaidh
Grabbin’ at a throne / to call his own
Pretendin’ he’s the king
[stage whispered:](We’d rather shove him / in a box)
(and out a fairy ring)
He throws an / angry tantrum
if he cannot have his way
Moans o’er his shard / ‘cause life’s so hard
then allies does betray
He’d like to think that he’s the first
but we all know he’s just the worst
A pox on that / phony king in Eachdraaaidh
He kidnaps all / our dearest friends
And robs us from our beds
but mark, we’ll yet / collect that debt
and crush that fucker dead
We’ll party hard / and party long
when that damned fox is gone
but until then / through mount and glen
we’ll sing this catchy song
So sing it loud and sing it long
Let nobody forget this song!
The scurvy’d, fleabit phony king in Eachdraidh
The snivellin’ grovellin’ / measly weasely
blabberin’ jabberin’; /gibbering jabberin’
blunderin’ plottin’ / wheelin’ dealin’
Reynard! That phony king in Eachdraaaidh
[ ooc: with thanks to Waver-mun & Kaldur-mun, who wrote this. And yes, Mags is going tavern to tavern and singing this ]

But that does not change my earlier statement - the monsters, the queen will tell you, are those of the other court, who kill those of your fellow court and seek to claim their shards. [ a shrug ]
Can you kill another, Junpei? Because that is what the Queen will ask of you. Oh, there are monsters aplenty in these lands - orcs and beasts of all sort, but ... I would call the true monsters the Kings and Queens, who set kin against kin for the sake of their war.
video;
Wait, so — we're on the same team? And... They want us to kill people? Dude, not cool! Hell no, I did not sign up for that.
video;
It seems so.
[ He shrugs, suddenly old and tired ] That is what they will say. The only way home is to win the war. The only way to win the war is to have enough shards... and the only way to harvest shards is to kill their bearers. None of us did, Master Junpei. Seelie may be asked, but even then most will tell you they did not truly understand what was being asked, but Unseelie are taken.
video;
but yeah uh. dude. shit's serious, man. ]
But — nobody knows if that's true, right? I mean, you said the Queen lady was a liar already... Maybe we gotta beat her! I mean, that's usually how stuff like this goes, right? You get trapped by a monster and you gotta beat it to get out of their place, yeah?
video;
The Seelie Queen is most definitely a liar. [ Malgor shrugs, and there is something dark in his eyes ] The Unseelie Queen I do not know - I think she prefers honesty, but truly, unless she is caught in a lie, how would we know? But Morla is very powerful, and does not take attacks lightly. I would be wary of voicing such sentiments unless you are prepared to face the consequences, or until you have the strength to back them up.
War is never so simple as that, Master Junpei. If only!
video;
Oh, so I gotta make sure I level up first... [ mAN this would be so much easier if he had his friends here.... but. if anyone's gonna be stuck here while they fight nyx, it should be him. yukari's their big healer, and mitsuru senpai and akihiko senpai are forces to be reconed with, and well, at least koromaru can use agi skills so it's not like they're up a creek without a flamethrower... but... still...
he sighs, and his already poor posture deflates for a moment as all of that weighs on him for a brief, uncomfortable moment. ]
Man...
video;
Tis not so easy as that. [ Maglor reiterates gently ] This is no game, Master Junpei, no simple conflict. Many lives of Men have the Queens fought, as only family can truly fight, and we are but pawns to them, to be used and discarded at their whim.
Do not feel you must push yourself to match some lofty standard.
video;
So if we don't fight their war thing, what are we supposed to do? 'Cause, uh, I dunno about everybody else here, but uh. This place is really retro, in a bad way.
[ have you SEEN the things they're calling toilets here in caer scima???? groce ]
video;
What so ever you wish, I suppose. [ Maglor shrugs a little ] There are neutral territories about, although all of them are sore besieged. There are places to explore, although I would not do so carelessly! And skills to learn. There are many who are simply about their own business, for the most part. [ himself included ]

You are hardly forbidden, but although there are Seelie who are welcoming, there are plenty also who would just as soon kill you for your shard, simply because you are from the opposing side - indeed twas the Seelie Champion who was the first of recent times to do so. I would not venture into such places without due care, although I can do nothing to stop you.
