Huh. This is kind of neat- little magic and it acts like a-

[Focus Rosenberg. You're stranded in a mystical realm with imps and faeries and all sorts of bad things could be happening back at the castle-- because who decided that would work? Having a bunch of slayers in a house didn't work out too well, So the logical conclusion was putting them in a giant castle with lots of weapons! Brilliant Idea.]

Uh, Hey! I'm looking for a girl named Buffy- Or any of the slayers. Buffy- She's about yay-big [She gesters to about her height.] Blonde, superhuman strength with killer fashion sense and a penchant for puns? I really hope she's here. Or uh-. A sarcastic British guy named Rupert Giles? Or Xander? He's a guy with an eyepatch. Kind of dorky but in an adorable way- Sorry Xander. [she mutters to herself] I'd even settle for Spike.

[She takes a few deep breaths. This was getting a bit too panicky. Calm down, calm down.]

Sorry for all the word vomit- I'm Willow. Willow Rosenberg. I guess I'm the newest contestant on this island.
Does anyone know anything about the energy here? It's kind of... abnormal.

Every girl.

[ she repeats the words with an air of wonder. surprise. vague shock. it's a game changer -- it's gotta be. and hours later she'll have a wicked freak-out session about how she's supposed to lead all those girls. but for now it is just unbelievably cool. ]

We're global? Fancy that. [ ... ] How is everyone? Dawn? How's Dawn?

Dawn's okay. [Except for being a big giant]

She got into Berkley. She did really well.

Berkley!

[ oh-so-briefly, she's stunned speechless. wordless. just wide green eyes and a little bit of a tremor to her breath. lightning bolt pride that sears so bright it hurts. it's been a brutal two months without her friends, but it's been outright torture being separated from dawnie. ][ but college! and doing well and -- wait. ] Did? What do you mean -- did. She did really well. Why isn't she still doing well? God, is she living off-campus? 'Cause I swear...

[ a flutter of big-sis-slayer takes wing. ]

She is she is!

[She gestures for Buffy to slow down.]

I meant she did really well to get into the college. [She pats the Slayer's arm reassuringly.] As far I know from the time I'm from, we're all okay.

[ we're all okay.

buffy wants to ask how long it's been. from crater to castle -- months? years? but she doesn't. it isn't what's most important right now. so she links her arm firmly in willow's and resumes walking. but her heart still beats like a frantic drum. and her words hold a slight quiver. ]

Thank God. Being here without her. Without you...I dunno. I feel like I'm starting to go native. I have a coin purse, Will. [ and on cue she shakes a little bag that has a few lonely coins hiding in its folds. ] No where takes plastic. There are no phones. No computers. No Starbucks. And no Scoobies, 'cept me and Spike. Which has been a barrel of awful.

[She looks at the coin purse, a tiny drop of the gravity of the situation ready to break the dam of her resolve and unleash the flood of worry in her.

But she takes a calming breath, stealing back some of her courage.]

It's okay. I'm here now. We'll find a way out of this, a way to get through. We always do right?

[She offers the strongest smile she can.]

We'll make it.

Or if we can't make it, we can at least fake it until we do.

[ a long slow sigh. ] Spike and me have fallen through the cracks. Kinda on purpose. Kinda because it just happened. That castle? The one you came from? That's just one side of this whole fairy war they have going on. I talked to some knight from the Seelie side and apparently it's all golden trim and polite invitations over in the other camp.

[ we got screwed. ]

... Charming.

[She felt a chill down her spine. If something could grab her, Spike and Buffy to this place? She dreads to think just how powerful these people are.]

Right. Hiding from the Unseelie-creeps. That's fine by me.

[She thinks for a moment.]

What's your plan? Lay low?

I'd rather not. But both armies have oodles of others like us who are happy to drink the kool-aid. Even so, I'm not interested in hurting them.

[ other shardbearers. buffy's beef isn't with them. ] We were travelling. Trying to find somewhere with a library or a sorcerer or something but -- hey, witch. [ a slight nudge. ] I think our chances of doing something might have just tripled. I mean. Willow. Flying?

[ she doesn't even wanna guess at how powerful willow must be now. ]

One of my more... helpful new talents.

[She shakes her head and looks at the ground.]

Ever since that battle it's kind of been an ongoing thing. I can feel everything Buffy. It's weird, like... like everything is connected. The earth is me, and I am the earth.

[She snaps herself out of it and looks at Buffy.]

I found a teacher, and my control is a lot better now. No more accidental reality warping for Willow.

It kinda sounds like what you'd read on the back of a granola bar box -- [ connected. earthiness. whatever. but it's clearly important and -- even better -- buffy thinks she gets it. she understands that feeling of being tied to a larger schematic. being a part of something. so she offers her friend a very small smile. ]

But cool. Granola but cool. Like yoga or those cute knit hats the yuppie kids wear. I'm so proud of you, Will.

[She ignores the crushing side of guilt that comes with lying to your best friend and then having her be nice to you afterwards... and offers a small smile back.]

I could probably pull all the ingredients for a granola bar through the earth.

[She mused the idea for a moment and then stopped.]

So. We've talked about us, Now's its time to talk about Buffy. How have you been? I mean- trapped with Spike must be... awkward. Especially as he doesn't know anything.

Awkward covers about naught-point-three percent of it. If that. [ buffy lets her tongue wag on automatic while she still considers the magical feasibility of making granola out of nothing. ] He's stupider than ever and just...

[ she sucks air between her teeth. there is no elegant way to tell willow that she misses the spike she felt she could trust. depend upon. the one who gave up his unlife for all of them. ] I dunno how to tell him any of it.

Well, I let slip that he died. But you know. He came back. So. There's that.

[She gives Buffy an apologetic look.]

HE also knows that Sunnydale explodes. I didn't realise how much he didn't know.

You do seem a little...shockingly unshocked that he's not super-dead.

[ a glance. a glimmer of an assumption. ]

He comes back. Quite quickly. Powers that be and all that.

[She gestures a like a puff of smoke.]

So, he saves us all really and then gets another chance.

...How many second chances does one guy get?

[ she snarks. she spits. she huffs. but a part of her is oddly relieved to know that fire and ash is not the last of spike. ] And more importantly, who did the bringing back?

[ oh buffy so resists giving willow a pointed look. ]

Not Guilty.

[She returns the look.]

I didn't have a part in it at all.

Did I?

[ buffy's voice hitches a pitch. watching spike burn up had been an emotional experience, and when she'd looked upon the crater he'd left she'd smiled. but now she worries that she couldn't let go. god, if she'd had anything to do with dragging spike back to unlife-- ]

Please tell me my hands are also clean.

Squeaky.

[She fans her fingers and inspects them]

As far as I know we had no part in it. It was the Amulet, and the powers that be.

So. Angel. Or Angel's contacts. Which is a whole other bag of stinky no-good rotten fish--

[ ugh. headache. this is a knot she doesn't have the time or bodily comfort to unravel. best to ignore it for now. leave it to the wayside. ]
