first shout ☆ video, open to both courts.
[ J'sairr gives the locket a darkly suspicious look as he fiddles with it, but... Well, he wouldn't be using it like this unless he really needed to. ]
Never has Khajiit seen a magic object with such function as this... This one is uncertain he is using it correctly. But, ah, there must be a first time for everything, no?
[ Not that he looks or sounds particularly convinced by his own words. Anyway... ]
This one is called J'sairr, and J'sairr would not be making this attempt if he did not require answers. Khajiit is newly arrived in this land, and there are many things he does not yet know, but of all his questions there are two with great importance.
First... This one has been led to believe he is the only one of his people — the only Khajiit — in all this world. Khajiit hopes dearly that this belief is false, not least of all because any land bereft of his kind is surely much sorrier for it.
And, second... Khajiit has heard some mention of dragons, but little more than that. [ In an unconscious gesture, his ears slowly swivel back as he speaks. ] This one wishes dearly to know what manner of dragons inhabit this land, and to what extent he may expect to encounter them. This, Khajiit wishes to know more than anything else.
[ He's not quite sure how to end his message, so after a few seconds of visible uncertainty, he nods towards the locket before awkwardly moving to snap it shut. ]

He's leaning over the locket a for a few, peering down his muzzle - and for a moment his fur bristles a little up and down his upper back. A large cat, the size of a human, speaking like a human, as if ordinary cats didn't give him the willies.
But it seems "proper" in a sense to respond. Nice, perhaps. He switches it on and leans over the locket - nonconfrontational as possible. Looking around the edges of the locket, bias toward the lower ones, and avoiding J'sairr's face as much as he can.]
I dunno about dragons -- but. Umm. ...It doesn't look like any of my people are here, either...! [A lift short of a "heh".] -- Not exactly, anyway.
Uhh - who are the Khajiit...?
Ah... We Khajiit are the people of Elsweyr, a land in the far south of Tamriel. There are many of us who look like J'sairr, and there are many who do not, as the moons see fit.
[ He hesitates after that. He really can't ignore the wolf thing, no matter how hard he tries. ]
And...what of your people, hmm? This one should hope this place is no den of werewolves.
There's a little - laughing tinge of floating sheepishness! Supposes he should be sorry for popping straight on like that - ]
Oh - I'm not a werewolf! [He doesn't think so, at least - that Raonil creature was a werewolf. He's not a werewolf, he'd never met anything like that before - his jaws drop open, tongue lolls out, in case that looks friendlier!] We're just wolves...
Or I am, I mean -- ...I guess none of my people are here, exactly... And I've never seen anyone just like you before!
[Light and soft trailing at ends!]
Uhm - what do the others look like? Where you come from. -- You said that many of 'em look like you, but many don't... [And thus he's just curious!]
How peculiar... J'sairr has met many wolves while traveling through Skyrim, but not a single one seemed more interested in conversation than making this one their dinner.
[ Still. With a soft sigh, he decides that there's no harm to be found in at least talking to the wolf, as long as he has the certainty of a safe distance between them. ]
Some look not unlike the mer — ah, elves as you may call them, save the fur of their ears and their tails... Some walk upon all four limbs, and of those, some are very small while others are quite large. But all are Khajiit, and all are bound to the ja'Kha'jay just as tightly as any other.
As J'sairr carries on he straightens up some. His tail swishes. He does picture it - wild-sized cats and house-sized cats, both kinds walking on two legs joined by faintly feline elves, recalling a couple around the Seelie court who count as such...]
What's the ja'Khay'jay? [Sincere, light-stepping wonder, but it cut ahead of other thoughts and inquiries - you're really all the same species? Or do you simply work together, as - a huge pride of cats and catlike people, one supposes, or a territory or a city...]
[ Of course, few were those outside of Elsweyr who knew much of the Khajiit's reverence for and reliance upon the ja'Kha'jay, but that doesn't mean he has any particular idea of how to explain it. ]
It is... [ He hesitates, pondering. ] This one has sometimes heard it called the Lunar Lattice beyond Elsweyr — the paths taken by the moons, Jone and Jode, in their travels across the sky. It is their place in the sky that gives each Khajiit his shape at the time of his birth.
[Evidently so; the names were given. He repeats just to affirm understanding, for his end - show it, for J'sairr's.]
So it's - like -- "the way of the moons"!
[He doesn't even quite know what he means by that, but it came to mind - bound to the moving of the moons.]
video.
There are some dragons, but most of the ones I've seen are just baby ones right now and they're being well taken care of. They're not dangerous, really, at least not yet.
video.
[ His ears pin back at the very thought of it. ]
This one has never seen a dragon in its infancy; only the very large ones have pursued J'sairr. Although... If they are still so small, this one supposes they would be much more easily dealt with, no?
video.
I hope you don't intend to hurt the dragons. They're not doing any damage to anyone and they're lovely.
video.
[ Not that...she has any fur to be singed, which is something he doesn't realize until after he's already said it. Still, nothing to be done for it except awkwardly shake his head and move on— ]
J'sairr does not like to slay dragons. It is a terribly dangerous thing, and this one would prefer to stay as far away from them as possible, if such a thing were possible. But dragons are a relentless lot, as this one has had the very great misfortune to learn, and J'sairr likes the prospect of ending up in their bellies far less than fighting them off.
video.
[ She doesn't even notice the fur thing, a little too focussed on her rather single-minded attempt to not get dragons into trouble. If something happened to her sort-of dragon-niece-thing... Well. ]
Well, Mr. J'sairr. I can promise you that most of the dragons here aren't going to do a single thing to hurt you unless you go after them. There aren't even that many around, to be honest.
video.
If this is true, then J'sairr is relieved. [ Really; he's even visibly relaxed, albeit very slightly. ] The dragons in Skyrim are many, and J'sairr has not known them to hesitate in striking first.
video.
That - I can understand. They're dangerous in my world, too. But they're different here and the one I've seen closest is just a baby.
video;
[ It doesn't hurt to catch back up with someone after speaking with them, does it? Rin's certainly dishing out her best manners. ]
Have you been told anything regarding the dragons of this world? I've never seen one up close before, but admittedly if I did, I'd probably just run away in fear. Do you think they are large and dangerous--oh, but collectors of treasure? I wonder if there are hunts for them here as well.
video;
[ Much better than he was in Skyrim, although he hasn't exactly been happy to find his fears suspecting dragons in this world all but confirmed. ]
Running away from a dragon is a very wise thing to do, and all those J'sairr has encountered have been very large and dangerous indeed. This one would not recommend hunting after them without a very good reason for it.
video;
Let's put aside the talk of dragons for now so I can catch up with you. I know you were eager in returning home, but have you considered the idea I proposed to you earlier about finding somewhere to call your own? You seem interested in a few things that could convince you to travel a bit.
