[ Lancelot looks tired, dishevelled, but determined. He's at least free of injury now, and making an attempt to look some degree of... serious, collected. In control. He's also in the company of John Grimm, who while not exactly looking pleased probably looks a few degrees less wrecked. Lancelot takes a deep breath, and manages to force a small smile. Behind them appears to be the training yard of Caer Glaem, which is being slowly set up by a few soldiers milling around.

Lancelot's tone is quiet as he speaks, quieter than perhaps people who know him may be used to, but it is measured and firm still. Controlled. ]

For those who do not know me, my name is Lancelot. I am Field Marshal here in Caer Glaem. Those of you that do, however, may recall I ran a training session a month previous. John Grimm --

[ -- and Lancelot glances sideways to the man with him. ]

-- and I have been asked to run them as a regular effort henceforth.

[ Your go, John. ]

The both of us have experience fighting both at home and in the Drabwurld, if you’re worried about qualifications. If you don’t know how to fight, even to simply defend yourself, then we ask that you absolutely come. If you do know how to fight, we ask that you come anyway; if nothing else, this is a good chance to practice your skills and maybe learn a few new ones. The same applies if you use magic.

[ A pause and, though it looks like saying this pains him, John adds: ]

Though we do ask that you not use lethal force. Training weapons will be provided as needed, and we will have healers standing by at each session.

[ Lancelot hesitates, nods approval finally as he tries to work out other things they need to cover. Right. Be encouraging, sound like you know what you’re talking about Lancelot. You just declared yourself supposedly in charge. Try to seem like you deserve that. ]

The training yard here will be set up to allow any who wish it to come and go as they please. We will try to attend every day but if we are not on hand some of the soldiers will always be here. Even the strongest of soldiers can benefit, fighting styles are different here in the Drabwurld. The shard that sits inside your chest can be used to amplify your strength and speed, and I will happily pass on the art to any who ask. As much as that, you are of course welcome to help us train if you have the experience. We will not turn away help.

We know that many of you do not want to take part in this war. That’s fine. But the Drabwurld is dangerous, and it’s not just the war that makes it that way. We can help you learn how to keep yourself alive in the event that something happens.

[ A pause, and he glances sideways at Lancelot, then nods slightly to himself. ]

[ Lancelot offers John a tiny smile, than turns back to the locket and inclines his head a little. ]

Thank you for your time.

[ Will that do? That’ll do. ]

I'm a Marine- uh, do you know what that is? [ HE'S NEVER SURE... ]

Firearms don't apply here, really, but I'm trained in martial arts and have taken up archery here. I use a warhammer in combat here as well, though I've worked with a few other weapons.

There are machines -- cars, or trains, or airplanes. They travel on the road or on tracks specially made for them. Planes, though, they fly.

Well, unless you're an aquatic being--which isn't entirely a joke if you knew where I come from--I'm going to assume you're the type of soldier who's trained to serve at land and either sea or space, if not all of the above.

[If you guys are that far with space.

But she perks up.]

That is quite the list of skills. I have to be pretty light on my feet as a matter of course, but my hand-to-hand combat is borderline nonexistent. I could stand to learn my way around some blades, but archery sounds very useful--I tend to fight at more mid and long ranges, myself.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Camelot did have its strife, although not as long lived nor as all-encompassing as here. Magic is dangerous in the wrong hands, it is true, but equally can be a source for good in the right hands. Uther Pendragon thought it better to cleanse Camelot of magic entirely. The law was his to make, and his to uphold.

[ And Lancelot's to blithely ignore, apparently. ]

You make it look so simple.

[ He's still thoroughly enchanted. MAGIC! M A G I C. ]

Does it not tire you in any way, to do such things?

[ He's thinking of it in terms of his shard -- using it takes effort, exhausts him if he pushes too far. Is this the same? ]

I've met Kaldur; not entirely a joke around here, either. [ He wishes... ] But yeah, your assumption is correct.

[ Not super far, but they had a portal to Mars. John blew it up, but... it was for a good reason? ]

We can focus on the hand-to-hand and archery then, if you'd like. I think those two are going to be popular options so you shouldn't have a shortage of practice partners.

[She winks.] Well, I'm sure there are things you can do that you make look easy, but probably took you quite a bit of effort at first, too.

[It is pretty amazing, she can't lie. ~*MAAAAGIC*~]

Something like this? No, it's very easy.. [She tilts her head in consideration, then gets another another pot and repeats the process, but this time, there is a small bush that sprout multiple flowers before eventually becoming plump, ripe strawberries.

To say it happens in ten seconds is being quite generous, and when it's grown, she plucks one and eats it, smiling.] There's only so much energy I can process at a time or over it, but I can draw from different sources and it takes quite a bit for me to tire. It has to, since I use my magic to fight.

He's pretty great! But have you had any run-ins with water-dwellers, sir? And does that mean you've been out to space, then?

...well, when you put it like that... yes, I completely understand. You can hardly get a bite in edgewise.

Besides, well, they may as well do what they like regardless...

Nothing quite as incredible as this, I think.

[ For what Flora does enchants him still, he does not tire of it upon repetition. ]

A gift such as this is a blessing, surely. All that could be done with it -- not just for its beauty, but in practical terms. You summon food as if it is nothing. To a farmer whose harvest has been destroyed -- well, such a simple thing could save himself and his family from starving.

It's the same sort of principle! And besides, that's subjective; you're running training sessions for people to learn new or sharpen old skills. That's pretty incredible to me, sir, and not just because I love learning.

[Sry, Lancelot, she's just gonna think you're p cool too. dwi.

Meanwhile, oh you know it sure would be nice to have a chair of some kind. She could use the ones at her bench, but, nah. Instead something grows through the floor but curiously doesn't break or otherwise disturb it, before becoming a rather huge daisy.

Flora sits on the pollen centre, snaps her fingers, and another strawberry is in her hands.

She nods at what he says, eyes brightening.]

It's what I'm working on doing, actually. This world has been torn by war, and will continue to be for a while to come. The Queen thought I could do something about that, make places green again. It's challenging, though, since there's never a dull moment around here.

[Fighting, fighting, more fighting, investigating, fetching stuff, fighting again in case they hadn't had enough of that. etc etc.]

Not just yet, no. And I've been to Mars.

[ Look it was that or horrible monsters killing everyone. ]

Um. Yeah, sometimes.

Who knows? Might be they don't want to take away from the welcome. Seems like something High-Queen Solais would say, anyway.

Such is the way of many things. A weapon too in the wrong hands may be dangerous, but in the right hands a tool of defense and protection, honour and loyalty. But... indeed, it is the King's decision to make, as you say. I only speak my mind, and do not mean to disrespect.

[ She looks perplexed, and that is a mild way to put it. When she continues, her voice turns incredulous. ]

Beg your pardon, as I must not be understanding this well, but... people are on the machines as they fly?

[ Oh no, she's courageous and kind on top of pretty and magical and --

and Lancelot needs to get a hold on himself. He takes a breath and drops his eyes. ]

I have no doubt that if any could bring brightness to this world, Lady Flora, it would be you. Your kindness and determination to help does you great credit.

Yeah. Or, well- they're in them.

[Wow, what a gentleman. She delicately raises a hand to her mouth, touched.]

That is so kind of you to say, sir. [If she takes a moment to think about it though, to wonder if she can, she'll start to worry that she can't. So, she won't. Instead, she focuses on his wonderfully generous words. She's not exactly hurting for them.] Well, now, I guess I'll just have to do my best so I don't disappoint.

Oh, but please--[She waves her hand gently.]--I am not a Lady. I don't have a title. [A beat. A tilt of her head.] Well, I don't have one that warrants that form of address, anyway. I'm not a noblewoman.

[ It sounds madder the more he explains it, and the look of bewilderment doesn't leave her face. ]

Then how do they fly, if they are not real birds?

There is none taken, Lady Éowyn, I assure you. The words you speak are true. These things are simply the way they are because too many of the wrong hands have been seen.

Blood is not the only thing which grants a lady nobility. It is temperament, too, the way she carries herself. The way she treats others.

[ Things Lancelot learned from Gwaine, which coincidentally also sound like great pick up lines.

No that isn't a coincidence everything Gwaine says is a pick up line. ]

That is very well said, so much so that I'm left with little argument. I might have to concede.

[The smile she offers is kind and slightly playful.]

That I understand. In my world much evil has been brought forth by dark magic as well, and yet if not by magic wielded by hands that do good, then the darkness would have won over our lands a long time ago. My kind would be long gone by now, along with many others.

Then I am glad for the concession. Will you come see me in the training yard? Perhaps we may talk more in person, and I might teach you as you request.

The same is true of Camelot, but such magic is wielded in secret because of the law. Those who defend it fear their actions being seen as twist, or their power inducing fear. Perhaps one day it will not be so. For now, I understand why they hide. I only regret it must be so.
